Majority says the federal government threatens their personal rights
The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted Jan. 9-13 among 1,502 adults, finds that 53% think that the federal government threatens their own personal rights and freedoms while 43% disagree.
In March 2010, opinions were divided over whether the government represented a threat to personal freedom; 47% said it did while 50% disagreed. In surveys between 1995 and 2003, majorities rejected the idea that the government threatened people’s rights and freedoms.
The growing view that the federal government threatens personal rights and freedoms has been led by conservative Republicans. Currently 76% of conservative Republicans say that the federal government threatens their personal rights and freedoms and 54% describe the government as a “major” threat. …
By comparison, there has been little change in opinions among Democrats; 38% say the government poses a threat to personal rights and freedoms and just 16% view it as a major threat.

And, yet they voted for the biggest Progressive in 80 years, if not in the history of the country, and a man, who believes that government can make better decisions for citizens than they can for themselves.

So then the bill of rights, written to protect the individual from the government AND the majority, is subject to a poll?
Perfect!

THIS MAKES NO SENSE!!!
WHY WHY WHY DID A MAJORITY OF AMERICANS VOTE FOR OBAMA, TOO? OR THAT GOOD FOR NOTHING DEMOCRAT SENATE? WHAT THE HECK??!?!?!
What a joke. Either this poll is bunk or the election was bunk and we’re stuck with Obama, so I’m going with the former.

There is no disconnect. People seem to forget that the vast majority of voters do not think about politics EVER until about a month before a presidential election. They then listen to the lies spread in that last month’s worth of campaign ads, but even before that the vast majority of them already have decided who they’re voting for because of preconceived ideas of what each party stands for within their mind.
The Democrats that say they’re concerned over the government taking away their rights and personal freedoms aren’t thinking about guns or health insurance mandates when they say that. They’re thinking about evil Republicans that are going to take away their “right” to welfare, abortions, Obamaphones and other such nonsense.

The problem has been that the “majority” has been silent too long.
Going along to get along…live and let live….
Unfortunately, Liberals don’t see it that way. They want to micromanage your life from birth to death panel.

that’s not a shock like the 85% of Americans that support term limits yet returned 91% of incumbents back to washington. Our electorate and our country as a whole is fundamentally unserious, and fairly ignorant when it comes to civics and their nations history. This is the end game of the lefts long slow march through the institutions. The informed and engaged electorate that is unnecessary for a republic to safeguard it’s own freedom has been destroyed.
