“David Vitter has done some nuttier things in his life”
Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-Fla.) associates, furious about fellow Republican Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) calling the Floridian “nuts” and “naïve” over his immigration reform efforts, are hitting Vitter where it hurts.
“David Vitter has done some nuttier things in his life,” a source close to Rubio wrote in an unsolicited email to POLITICO.
That’s a not-at-all subtle reference to Vitter’s 2007 admission that his phone number appeared on a client list of a Washington, D.C. madam. A New Orleans-based prostitute and madam have also, separately, accused Vitter of being a client, but he has denied those charges.

I’m disliking Rubio more and more. After the way Scott & Bondi have handled the Zimmerman case, I have no desire to go anywhere near the state. So, yeah they are a bunch of nuts.

“I know you are but what am I”
I think a big problem in DC are the “aides”. Clean house there as well.

I like how he’s using aides to attack then I’ll bet he’ll try to take the high road personally. We need someone that does that.

If only they would hit at the Dog Eater In Chief as hard.

I wondered when the anti-Vitter rhetoric was coming after he said what everyone else was thinking about the Great Hispanic Hope. Of course they never give you the whole context:
“The amnesty happens immediately — the millisecond the bill is signed into law, and the same is true here. No, they won’t be citizens immediately. They will be legal.”
“Citizenship is guaranteed at that point as a practical matter,” he added.
Vitter said that if the Florida Republican doesn’t think legal status offers a pathway to citizenship, “he’s nuts.”

Vitter’s problems with prostitutes are his to iron out with his family and Louisiana voters.
So far as I know, Vitter has done nothing–NOTHING–to undermine my quality of life. In contrast, Rubio seems to be working to dramatically affect my quality of life.
By the way, Rubio’s aides are criticizing Vitter over his prostituion problems. Yet Rubio seems to have no problem working with a colleague who’s using underage prostitutes.
WTF?

Rubio’s support of amnesty smacks of Hispandering. Everyone talks about the Hispanic vote, no one talks about illegal Mexican immigrants. Here we have a Republican, we’re supposed to be color-blind, for equality and equal treatment under the law, and for SOME REASON (who knows why!) the Hispanic Rubio wants to give special treatment to Hispanic Mexican illegal immigrants. That’s not conservative, that’s identity politics.

So typical of Politico . Slam both Vitter and Rubio in
the same piece .
Blake .. Not sure why you think Scott and Bondi are so awful .
Scott’s been a pretty good Gov . in my state . Fl is seeing a
darn good recovery .
Come on down , it’s beautiful here on the west coast and you
can’t beat the weather !

Rubio’s staffers must have learned their M.O. from Romney’s.

A Cuban trying to get Mexicans to vote Republican…yeah, that’s gonna work.

So the Politico has no criticism better to offer than attacking Vitter’s personal life.
What a bunch of slime balls.

This Jonathan Martin has built a career around inventing anonymous Republican “sources” for the purpose of creating friction between Republicans.

“Personal life.” Right. Patronizing hookers while serving in the Senate. No possible problems there, of course.
I’m frankly astounded about how many people are siding with the john over Rubio because they have this notion that Rubio’s a RINO. Vitter’s a disgrace who should have been primaried in 2010, and replaced with a conservative for whom “family values” means more than charming money out of so-cons.

What’s the point of harping on Vitter’s past troubles in the context of an actual ongoing policy debate? It’s just petty and accomplishes nothing.

Do you feel the same way about Bob Menendez…?
He was banging under age girls and not declaring free trips on a private plane until he got caught.
Vitter survived his scandal as many politicians sometimes do.
What does that have to do with amnesty….?
The Politico is sliming him only to blunt his criticism of Rubio and that is disgusting.
Does the Politico recount any of Obama’s skeletons any time they bring up his name?
NeoKong on February 1, 2013 at 10:46 AM
So Rubio resorted to an ad hominem attack on a fellow Republican?
That takes him down one notch in my opinion. I actually support his immigration plan but he has to be able to defend it without resorting to personal attacks. What he said was true about Vitter – but it was also irrelevant to the discussion.
HondaV65 on February 1, 2013 at 11:06 AM
Please put down your RINO gun and refrain from hunting. You obviously don’t know what a real RINO looks like.
Vitter is one of the MOST conservative Senators in office. Voted against TARP, I believe. That’s the reason he’s been reelected here in Louisiana (Bible Belt mind you) even with his hooking problems.
In fact, during the campaign debates during the last senate race, Vitter was attacked by Dims, Libertarians, and I think Constitution Party candidates over his prostitution scandal.
Quote from one of his opponenets … “It sickens me to stand up here on stage with him.”
Don’t matter – Louisianans reelected him anyway because he’s a solid conservative who looks out for LIBERTY. His prostitution problem can be overlooked because it’s his VOTES in the Senate that count to us.
Hell, I would buy a prostitute once a year for every real conservative in congress if they voted like Vitter did.
