Boy Scouts no-gays policy change proposal draws backlash
The Boy Scouts of America faces intensifying criticism from the left and right over a proposal to move away from a mandatory no-gays membership policy and allow troop sponsors to decide the matter for themselves.
The Human Rights Campaign, a major gay-rights group that initially welcomed the BSA’s possible shift, said Thursday that it was inadequate and demanded that the Scouts adopt a nationwide policy to accept gays as scouts and adult leaders. …
Meanwhile, conservative groups which support the long-standing no-gays policy asked their followers to flood BSA headquarters with phone calls opposing any change. …
“The BSA national leadership were not prepared for the thousands of Americans who were shocked to hear that an organization that could always be counted on for standing for what’s right was about to cave in to homosexual activists and corporations,” Perkins said in an emailed appeal.

LOL! Annoying aren’t they?

So, as an Eagle Scout, you explicitly reject large portions of the Scout Oath?
gwelf on February 1, 2013 at 1:52 PM
.. and it will horrify you to know that I do (and have done) a lot more in politics, and in the Republican Party, than most of the commentators here probably do. Including paid officer-ship.

Wrong! The passages where Christ condemns “pornea” have nothing to do with divorce. He condens “pornea” AND adultery in those passages.
.
Paul most certainly met Jesus on the road to Damascus. Also, as noted above, the Apostle Peter, “the rock”, specifically calls Paul’s letters “scripture”. Paul also not only confirms the “divinity” of Christ but also the “diety” of Christ.

You can use human reasoning, but when it directly contradicts the Bible, then it is not Chrsitianity.
James 5:16
You have free will, God wishes you to come to him.

You’re not a sincere person. I should know better than to try to engage a liberal in honest dialog. If you had a point you wouldn’t direct me to a general google search on some keywords. You don’t have a point, do you.
I do. Some parents don’t want the influence of an openly homosexual man on their boys, in close quarters, and you get angry and rude over it, and you can’t defend yourself. Your parting shot is about me skipping high school.
Tell me all the points you’ve made in this thread that others, who though they disagree with you, respected, and took to heart. That’s right. None. I wish you would’ve made some. I’d have preferred that. But, what can I do. I tried.

Boy Thcouts?
steebo77 on February 1, 2013 at 1:55 PM
But I bet is was okay with you that corporations withdrew funds and no longer allowed BSA meetings on their property. You can’t have it both ways. The Boy Scouts should be allowed to included or excluded whom they like and the benefactors are allowed to withhold funds and venues. Only one side is vilifying the other and it is not the Boy Scouts.

An extremely atheistic/magical notion of prayer, to boot. It’s not like people like Augustine never thought of a rebuttal to that one.
Oh, and Paul clearly thought of Christ as divine–Romans 9:5 (yes, yes the comma nonsense), repeatedly calling Him “Lord,” his modification of the Shema to include Christ, and even in offhand terms as the opening verse of Galatians, which puts Christ on the divine side of the ledger:
“Paul, an apostle—not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead…”
But, anyway, tis a waste of time to argue.
DRPrice on February 1, 2013 at 1:57 PM
Ah Oh!!! Sock puppet alert I have heard that argument before. No one cares what you have done or you imagined pull in the Republican Party. In case you hadn’t noticed their are not very high on anyone’s Hit Parade.
Cindy Munford on February 1, 2013 at 1:58 PM
S’alright. It happens.
There’s plenty within Paul’s writings concerning the divinity of Christ, too. I’m a little busy to look them all up, however.

Paul consistently referred to Jesus as “Christ.”
“Christ” is less a name of Jesus but rather more a title.
More correctly we should refer to Jesus as “Jesus the Christ.”
Messiah (Hebrew) and Christ (Koine Greek) mean Anointed One. The Anointed One prophesied in the Old Testament clearly refers to God.
So when Paul refers to Jesus as Christ (in the Koine Greek manuscripts it is “The Christ,” ton christov, etc), Paul is showing that he recognizes the deity of Jesus.
Finite minds cannot wrap their brains around the Incarnation, that Jesus is fully God and fully man. We can only accept the clear teaching of the Bible.

Not a very good one. Didn’t Soros teach him he was supposed to be in the ‘military’ too. When the lefties try to build these characters, they mostly do a poor job.
reddevil on February 1, 2013 at 2:04 PM
Just because you and yours get overly emotional on a subject does not mean others do.
Would it horrify you that I don’t consider the Republican Party conservative?
Another reason not to give the GOP money.
davidk on February 1, 2013 at 2:09 PM
ton christov SB ton christon
davidk on February 1, 2013 at 2:11 PM
In addition, I would note that Paul repeatedly refers to Christ as “Kyrios” (generally translated as “Lord”) which in this context is the Greek synonym for Jehovah, the supreme Lord and Sovereign of the Universe.

BTW: ZachV’s link to try and to prove that Paul didn’t belive that Jesus is Gos is a pro-Islamic site.
