“Rubio has been calling it ‘earn-esty,’ not ‘amnesty,’ and that’s the difference between then and now”
“It’s an issue whose half-life has already been exhausted,” said Douglas Gross, a political operative in the early-primary state of Iowa. “There are other issues on people’s mind. That’s why this is smart on Rubio’s part. Part of being seen as the next generation of leadership is taking on an issue that leads the party to a new place. If he wants to be seen as a leader, that is what he has to do, even though this isn’t really that tough of an issue.”…
“Rubio has been calling it ‘earn-esty,’ not ‘amnesty,’ and that’s the difference between then and now,” said Chad Connelly, the chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, which in 2007 was tepid on Bush’s effort. “People are looking to him. He’s got the Latino background, so they want to find out his take.”…
As for any conservatives angry at Rubio’s apostasy?
“They will get over it. Conservatives will reach a point where they are tired of losing on the national level and on the state level and they will get it over it.”

WTF?
Is he twelve years old?

Okay, I’m starting to seriously dislike Rubio.

Lots of heavily lifting on behalf of Rubio by the Republicrats.
Looks like he’s next in line to lose in ’16.

O_o
If “winning” means having to put up with the dolts who comprise the GOP then I don’t want to “win”. Let the liberal human trash have what they want, I’ll keep my head down over here and wait for the crash.

RON PAUL 2016!
Flapjackmaka on January 30, 2013 at 7:55 PM
Oh, well in THAT case…
I’m still on the fence about whether Rubio somehow thinks he’s doing the right thing, or if he knows exactly what he’s doing. I have to imagine it’s been pointed out to him that “legalizing” “11 million” people is “amnesty” and that they will all become citizens, 70% of whom will vote Democrat, it a short period of time.
The second they’re “legalized” the democrats will start saying republicans are treating hispanics as second class citizens, call republicans racist, will march on washington with hispanics with “no taxation without representation” signs and go all out.
Then the republicans or the “committee” will cave, certify the border as secured, and they’ll become citizens. Nothing will change at the border.
Exhausting.

Earn-esty. How cute. Hon-estly, I don’t care what it’s called, the battle is on, between us and those that want to open this country up to an unceasing flux of immigrants. Once the level of Mexicans in the electorate reaches a certain point, there’s no going back. They’ll reach out and bring in the rest of their clans, legally. Then we’re swamped. We’re done, as they take away our constitution certainly and feel free to redistribute away our assets to the new low income immigrants. Now that redistribution would destroy us and this country and would be unearned. Un-Earn-esty.
Remember: E-Verify needs to be part of any plan. If E-Verify has been in place for 5 years or so, then we can talk about amnesty.

How lame.
I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

Just enforce the damn laws o.k?
Mimzey on January 30, 2013 at 8:36 PM
Okay Einsteins, just how are we going to get enforcement in place with this Senate and this Doofus in the White House? Don’t tell me “just enforce the laws we already have on the books,” because it ain’t working and Obama doesn’t even feel the need by law to comply.
How are we going to get an E-verify system up and running? How are we going to put more agents and technology on the border? And how are we going to get a better system of tracking people down who overstay their visas?
John the Libertarian on January 30, 2013 at 8:41 PM
You know what, Marco? Shut the eff up and produce the bill in all its splendor. Then we can decide what to call it. I’m really sick and tired of all the pre-marketing salesman crap for a bill that doesn’t exist.
And that doesn’t just go for the bill, but all, and especially all, you pundits who have touted themselves as clear-eyed, rational for the last four years and acted that way, but now are acting no different than the Obama-phants going “Mmmm, mmm, mmm” for your own little Messiah, Marco Rubio, when up to now, he’s been not much more than Senator Lightworker (R-FL).

He sure did ride them
McCain the Sequel
Only this time I won’t vote for the jerk. It is over. Rubio made his move. He can find other voters. I assume that is his point. The only effort I will make is discrediting the lies of the ones in his posse
He may end up running the Senate, as I assumed. The Club has adopted him, and given him a new spiel. They will repay the effort if this sinks
I don’t need a McCain-Rubio GOP to represent me. Heck, I would rather vote for a Ron Paul. And I would. Only difference, I will work against the Club more than I would work for a Ron Paul. Paul scr@wed me over too, by running shotgun for the RINOs in the primaries. Heck, I might even jump parties in the primary, if this game plays out according to their plans. Help put in a DEM

Cool, I’m on board. My only objection was to the name ‘amnesty’ because I was a huge Jerome Williams fan.
Rubio/Ryan 2016!
sauldalinsky on January 30, 2013 at 8:46 PM
Same with abortion.
Same with the second amendment.
Same with welfare reform.
Same with tax breaks.
Same with debt reduction.
So just surrender on all of it, or just surrender on the agenda you agree with like amnesty?
sharrukin on January 30, 2013 at 8:47 PM
So now Marco Rubio thinks he is Marco Orwell.
VorDaj on January 30, 2013 at 8:51 PM
I feel the same way, except he has shown that he knows what he’s doing, because he hasn’t done anything. Does anyone call the “FOUR PILLARS” anything? Because I don’t. Someone Madison Avenue Whiz with the gift for writing can come up with that in an hour to sell what we flush down the toilet daily.
I’ll judge if he knows what he’s doing when he produces the bill he’ll stand behind.
Dusty on January 30, 2013 at 8:52 PM
except he has = except he hasn’t

All the whining about Chris Matthews getting a tingle, and these GD RINOS are having RINOgasms over the thought of their own special Messiah. THe drool is getting on my shoes. I am sick of it.
He can do a 180 and they swoon.
They better stop this RINOmessiah BS before they create a major backlash
That means a backlash of disgruntled conservatives, empowered by liberal press. It is coming. Right now the MSM is boosting the RINOmeter to get the RINOs out on a limb with the base, and the fools think they picked a winning horse
Meanwhile they talk about Palin like she is dog doo, and all she did was boost McCain almost enough to win, even though he was despised

If this looks like I am helping the Libs on this one, I am.
Go for it guys. Keep pumping up Rubio. It will break the GOP and give the DEMs the next Presidential
If the GOP is on this curve, it can’t be fixed anyway. I give my enemies a freebie. Not sure about the Cisco Kid, but the RINies are greedy enough to fall for an MSM ambush
If you find killer bees, there isn’t a cure. Better call in the exterminators. Let them do the dirty work
entagor on January 30, 2013 at 9:06 PM
By enforcing the existing laws.
Why make more laws when the existing ones are not enforced? All that does is give cover to the politicians, so they can harumph about “working on the problem”.
Doesn’t e-verify already exist?
We have agents on the border…they just are prevented from doing their job effective because of democrat and this administration interjecting themselves into the process.
Mimzey on January 30, 2013 at 9:18 PM
Pitiful traitorous hack.
The only thing they’ve “earned” is to be kicked out of a plane over the southern tip of Mexico with a 2nd-hand parachute.
