Poll: Obama’s approval rating surges to three-year high
Fully 60 percent of Americans have a favorable impression of Obama in the new poll, up slightly from October but a clear shift in opinion from an election year in which his ratings hovered in the mid-to-low 50s. And by 39 percent to 26 percent, the president now has more “strongly” positive ratings than strongly negative reviews, breaking a two-year stretch in which intense opposition was on par with (or higher than) intense support.
Obama’s inaugural address earned fewer positive marks and appears to have served mainly as a pep rally, with raving reviews from supporters and plenty of yawns from his opponents. While the speech drew twice as many cheers as jeers — 51 percent approved while 24 percent disapproved — a quarter of Americans had no opinion on the speech. More than eight in 10 Democrats approved of Obama’s second inaugural, but at least three in 10 Republicans and independents have no reaction at all.

How in God’s green earth can anyone have a favorable approval of bho? Did this polling bunch only poll those that ‘santa bho’ has in his pocket? Any r that approves of bho needs a mental check up stat!

Is that personal approval or job approval? Cuz the former’s always been relatively high. If it’s his job approval at 60% after the nasty campaign he ran and the tax hike he just dropped on over 3/4 of the country, then I officially give up.

That’s meaningless then. It’s the old “I’d like to have a beer with him” approval. Bush benefited from that for a long time before all the negative press and attacks caught up with him in his 2nd term. Plus Obama will always have the added advantage of a segment of the population who refuse to say anything bad about him because of his skin color.
Doughboy on January 30, 2013 at 1:56 PM
Two words: Irish Spring.
OK: An explanation. Decades ago when Irish Spring soap was launched they had a famous advertising campaign which had three important elements (a) a catchy slogan (“Manly yes…but I like it too!”…remember?)(b) a guy cutting a bar of soap along the side showing the green deodorant(?)…you could practically smell it through the TV…even in black and white, and (c) saturation advertising. As a result of all this positive publicity the launch of the soap was exteremely successful…one of the most successful in advertising history.
Pres. Obama is the beneficiary of a similar campaign, not paid for by a soap company but voluntarity placed before us by the news media. If the media does not report the problems or errors of the Administration, or if they constantly report (uncritically) White House Talking Points, if they demonize or ridicule opponents…all the techniques we see daily…how can the President NOT have positive approval ratings? He has positive approval ratings for the same reason Irish Spring sold well…positive advertising. Steve Kroft is the latest but definitely not the last.

It was a poll of journalists. Darn that FOX news, or it would have been 100%.

I’m no longer surprised by the insanity that is spreading throughout the country. It took me weeks to come to terms that we reelected Obama after so many massive failures, pain and suffering put upon the American people by this administration. All I was able to come with is that we are truly in the end times. Evil is overtaking the good and nothing can stop it.
HotAirian on January 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM
If you think you’re frustrated by polls like this just wait until there’s no food on the store shelves and not only are Obama’s policies not blamed for it, but yours are.
Kataklysmic on January 30, 2013 at 2:03 PM
That’s confirmed by some of the internals of this “poll”…believe it or not, according to the results a majority of Whites disapprove of Dear Leader, which means that they’re all racist. Only 45% of Whites approved, 52% did not.
At the same time, 94% of African-Americans approved of Dear Leader, as did 87% of non-Whites and 87% of Hispanics.
Sad to say I could not find a pdf showing how much they oversampled Democrats. But I’m sure they did.

Hey Lestard what can I say you beat us. Congrats I know it was hard and all so salute. A media totally protecting the GOP made Bush a national hero and you guys really overcame a lot of hatred by the media to get Ogabe elected. You and many trolls like you selflessly exposing our wars on tampons, birth control, and sex coupled with your brilliant defense of every successful Ogabe policy were truly the work of superior mind.
Take a bow.
The wreck will be yours but I will get blamed but if lawlessness ever hits, the media would do themselves a lot of good running to Canada.

Actually have to feel sorry for the Left, after all they will never ever have a President in office who will even come close to the 90% job approval Chimpy Bush had after 9/11.
To them, it will always be “how could so many Americans be so Stupid?”
Del Dolemonte on January 30, 2013 at 2:15 PM
I’ll speak the truth, whether you accept it or not. On most negotiations with the GOP, Obama was seen and perceived as the winner. We’ll have to bruise him, and force him to negotiate, to get his approval rate down. Thats like, inevitable.
tommy71 on January 30, 2013 at 2:15 PM
Huh? For Benghazi? How was Bush in any way responsible? Obama’s the one who sent military support into Libya to help overthrow Ghaddafi. If anything, Bush is the one who scared Ghaddafi into giving up his weapons programs after we invaded Iraq.
Doughboy on January 30, 2013 at 2:16 PM
Obama is a genius at fooling people. He has convinced the low info voter that he is not part of government! And to vote for him to become…er, part of the government!
PattyJ on January 30, 2013 at 2:21 PM
Actually for the left it’s more like, “Isn’t it great just enough Americans are that stupid?”
60%, 90%… doesn’t make a difference. Just as long as on election day you can get 47% + the dead vote.

Doughboy go read the transcript.
I can’t decipher their muddled logic well here let me try I am sure Lestard there can correct me if I screw up.
1) Ba-Rahn-Ko decides to aid the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization to overthrow a compliant Qadaffy at the behest of Fwance without going through Congress “because” undoing a long term containment of Qadaffy’s WMD program.
2) Barky aids the MB in gaining power having armed them under auspices at least as murky as Iran-Contra, including allowing them to arm several allied militias.
3) Muslim brotherhood asks that US diplomatic areas not have visible armed personnel present HILLARY! largely complies Ogabe’s Military withdraws Delta Force operatives despite Ambassador Stevens’ protestations and statements of risk
4) a 3d rate film does not cause a riot that never happened not leading to a spontaneous use of mortars but instead a planned “militia” attack is executed murdering US agents on the ground. US assets were within operational distance but “someone” ordered a stand down.
5) Susan Rice who was not involved in the decision making at all makes several cameos on the Sunday circuit spreading overt and willful lies during a Presidential campaign.
6) HILLARY! gets brain cloud and cannot testiify, survivors of the attack are not on camera during any investigation
7) Media reelects Ba-Rahn-Ko Obama suddenly it is Congress and Bush’s fault for underfunding a non-existent at the time Diplomatic area 4 years after Bush left office.
FYI Richard Grennell made it very plain that Bermuda has seven times the amount of money spent on it for Security.
Just saying.

His job approval rating average at RCP is 52%, nearly the same as the 51% he had in November when, not coincidentally, he won 51% of the vote. His personal popularity is 10 pts. higher than his job approval because of white guilt. People are afraid to be called racist, so they say they like him personally. Conservatives still loathe his policies which are destroying the nation.

There was a caller on the Jason Lewis radio show last night that was voicing her regret now about voting for Obama. Seems she thought Obamacare was going to provide healthcare for her absolutely free, and has since found out such is not the case. She was rather miffed and swore that she now sees the light and would be voting Republican from now on. I wonder how many more are out there that still think they are going to get “free” healthcare?
That approval number might start to tank once some of O’s supporters get a glimpse of reality.
