Immigration reform could boost cost of Obamacare by hundreds of billions
Having made these caveats, here are some ways of looking at what it could cost to insure newly eligible immigrants under various assumptions. After the Supreme Court’s Obamacare decision, the CBO estimated that the law would cover an additional 11 million people on Medicaid (at a cost of $643 billion from 2013 through 2022) and 25 million through the exchanges (at a cost of just over $1 trillion over the same period). So, for every additional 1 million people on Medicaid, the federal government will be spending about $58 billion over the next decade and for every 1 million people on the exchange, taxpayers would be spending about $41 billion. Projecting this out for 8 million new beneficiaries would give a range of $328 billion to $464 billion. This would be conservative, however, because the current 10-year CBO estimate includes fiscal year 2013, though the law isn’t going to be implemented until 2014 – thus the actual 10-year cost is understated. Also, this method understates the per capita cost, because I’m dividing for the decade as a whole, even though the population covered by Obamacare grows over time.
As the details of any legislation get fleshed out, let’s hope the CBO provides more clarity on this issue. If there aren’t enough provisions in the legislation to prevent immigration reform from becoming a de facto expansion of Obamacare, my guess is it won’t have that many GOP takers.

That’s ok. It was going to lower the deficit. Now it’ll just break even.

NOW how are the states going to pay for bhocare? You can not turn away anyone coming into the er and they are going to be so cash strapped they just might close?

What’s a few hundred billion more dollars going to matter at this point?
We’re screwed. L.I.B. And when we rebuild it from the ashes, we need to have a law requiring that before any candidate for any political office can get their name on the ballot, they must first pass a test that proves they possess at least a basic understanding of math, economics, and accounting principles.

And no matter what initial cost estimate they might come up with… we know we can at least triple it.

Class and ethnic warfare works and always has.
The democrat party is a fractious bunch that is only being held together because Obama has played off unmarried women against men, middle class/poor against rich and all minorities against whites. He also has managed to sucker enough whites to continuing to support this madness.
If the GOP is going to survive it is going to have to exploit those fault lines and there are plenty to be found. There is no way a coalition that has so many differing views on so much can hold together forever. For example the idea that all minorities are going to vote forever as a block is impossible to keep together when you consider the differences in cultures and natural conflicts between them but the GOP has to work at that and start now. We can probably only squeeze another 5% out of the white vote in this country so we need to pick a strategy, like in the 1960s-70s when the GOP reached out to the white south and took them into the fold. If they had not the party would have died 30-40 years ago.

Philip Klein had better start runing his stuff by Marco Rubio before he puts the stuff out here, I’m sure Rubio has a good way to explain this away too.

The whole of the Democrat Party is lie based, the foundations are all a bad mix batch of concrete that has never set up solid.
All it will take is a few well placed truths for more to see.
One small private operation blog and some “free at last” e-mails shattered the world wide con lie based AGW tax and spend fraud.
The over spending is a lie.
That over spending is ok is a lie.
That limited goverment is bad is a lie.
The growth of goverment is the big lie.
That the U.S.A. is a bad influence world wide is a huge lie.
The Democrats are a bad influence world wide is a fact.
That unlimted illegal/legal immigration is good for the U.S. is a lie.
That a strong national defense cost to much is a lie.
That John F. Kerry is fit to serve as a Senator much less as Sec. of State is a flat ass lie.
That the Democrat Party acts in ways that will help the blacks in the U.S.A. has no base in facts, the blacks are worse off now due to Obama’s debt spending. They will be much worse off if Obama and the Democrats get 15 million low wage illegals in the work force.
That showing an ID to vote is a huge lie and they know it.
Endless lies.
Just the facts.
