“I think he is going to give a lot of cover to the Republicans who otherwise would choke on this”
“Give him a break, he’s got to cover,” Nelson responded. “Just wait until they get to the details, they’ll hammer it out. Remember, he had to go on Rush Limbaugh and start convincing Rush Limbaugh, who as recently as last Monday said, ‘No way, Jose.’ And as a result, Marco was successful.”
Nelson was referencing Rubio’s appearance on Limbaugh’s conservative talk radio program Tuesday, in which Limbaugh lavished him with praise for his work on the issue — though was less praiseworthy of the actual plan itself. Nelson also praised Rubio.
“My colleague Marco Rubio, who I think has taken a very courageous stand — he is now at the forefront, one of the leaders, who is going to give the cover to a lot of the Republicans who had taken the opposite position.”

I think Rubio could do without praise from Ben Nelson. I wonder if Ben Nelson even has a positive approval rating in his own family.

He will only give them cover if he fails. What if he succeeds?

And, so glad that “cover” is what matters. Principles? Results? Ramifications? Irrelevant, I guess.

A freshman GOP senator can give “cover” to… whom exactly?
Looks to me like he’s giving a lot of “cover” to president puppy-muncher, because amnesty is a huge progresive agenda item.

Once again, Politico publishes an article built on a completely false premise.
Rubio does NOT agree with Obama and the Democrats on “immigration” (the correct term is “invasion). This is made very clear in recent interviews given to Rush Limbaugh, as well as Rubio’s previous public statements and actual quotes (as opposed to the twisted and wildly distorted media representations). Neither does Obama accept Rubio’s position on this issue, as he made clear in a recent speech in which he rejected all efforts to meaningly enforce existing immigration laws.
But Politico (ignoring the facts and presenting Liberal wishes in their place) clearly implies that he does, and that therefore Conservatives are outliers on this question: an implication which is TOTALLY FALSE!!!
So once again Politico proves that it is nothing more than a propaganda organ run by Leftist Obama apologists.
