Obama to oppose enforcement provisions in Senate bill
The officials said the president’s plan would be more in depth than both the blueprint he released in 2011 and the set of principles announced Monday by a bipartisan group of senators. But he won’t produce a specific bill as long as the Senate is making progress, the officials said…
Under the Senate plan, the country’s 11 million undocumented immigrants would not earn green cards until the border is deemed secure. Administration officials said Obama does not favor linking legal status to border security, arguing that undocumented immigrants should not be kept in a state of limbo.

Naturally.
His idea of “reform” are instant wards of the state who can vote Democrat as soon as possible, with more on the way to the gigantic welfare state magnet this will create.

Illegal immigrants shouldn’t be in a state of limbo? What a farce. The chose to put themselves into a state of limbo by illegally crossing the border!

Shocked , I tell you I’m shocked !

I can’t wait to see how quickly the GOP caves.
SouthernGent on January 28, 2013 at 11:38 PM
He wasn’t going to enforce them anyway even if he was willing to sign a bill with the enforcement triggers included. The House GOP should just walk away from this fiasco or pass a bill that mandates enforcement before any kind of legalization takes place.

Undocumented immigrants. Please.

And only a racist would think that he maybe should be recusing himself in light of his undocumented family members.
It won’t be that long before they’ll be shooting skeet with him at Camp David.

Jeddite on January 28, 2013 at 11:58 PM
just as everyone predicted
just like happened in 1986
We pass amnesty, the “enforcement” part gets held up in courts or not enforced by the left, but the amnesty part takes effect immediately
this is so pathetically predictable, Obozo will just refuse to enforce the border but lock in the amnesty immediately, even for your illegal gay lover

I want it all my way, Now.
But you Republicans are all a bunch of absolutists.
Socratease on January 29, 2013 at 12:11 AM
Very similar to the deal of “spending cuts later for tax increases now”, the taxes always happen but the spending is never cut.
IE: the amnesty is always granted bu the border enforcement never happens.
wildcat72 on January 29, 2013 at 12:11 AM
What a great compromiser, that Obama. Why is he relevant to any dialogue on anything?
Rubio should say Obama can go F himself. He’s irrelevant to this process. If he wants to have his name attached to vetoing a bipartisan immigration reform, we’ll be happy to run those ads in Spanish in 2014 and 2016.

Because “I Won”.
And Weepy Boner will have a good cry then give it to him.
wildcat72 on January 29, 2013 at 12:40 AM
Republicans should call his bluff. Let Obama veto it because Republicans actually want to enforce the law. It would save the GOP from itself.
But Republicans are probably too stupid to do it.
Socratease on January 29, 2013 at 12:57 AM
If this happened, they should get Boehner to the Rio Grande ASAP. The tears from his weeping at having to take a stand would be so great he’d fill that river to the point that crossing it would be suicide for illegals.
wildcat72 on January 29, 2013 at 1:01 AM
Some of you don’t get it…
Rubio gets what he wants, TV time and proof that he is for the reforming our immigration system. He has started his courting of Latinos for 2016 which was the whole purpose of this. Now here comes Obama to make an ass of himself because he has a massive ego, forcing the House and Senate Republicans probably led by Rubio himself to oppose Obama’s plan and probably kill immigration reform for this year. The MSM will try to cover for Zero, but for Latinos and those that care about the issue of immigration reform there will be bitter feelings even if they try to say the right things for Obama. That Obama screwed with them for political points and nothing more will hurt them, the same why conservatives feel when they have been played with on some issue by their leaders. The majority of Americans do want enforcement and employment enforcement first before illegals are given a pathway to citizenship so Obama will basically be going against that as well.
That would be a win for Rubio, he tried to come up with a common sense plan, that was bipartisan, and Obama for ego sake alone killed it. The more intelligent democrats also realize that there is a good chance that none of their major 2016 democrat potential nominees speak Spanish. That may mean seem trivial and silly but it does matter if you want to take a larger chunk of Latino votes. It gives you street cred. Hillary, Biden, Cuomo, Warren, none of them have that kind of ability to reach out into the hearts of Latinos, unless of course the Dems try to foist one of the Castro brothers on us, but I don’t think that is likely.
If American voters really like this feel good multicultural crap, Obama vs. Rubio in a debate over immigration is going to be a defeat for Obama. Why? Obama cannot speak Spanish! Rubio gets up there and talks directly to “his” people, and all the moderates and feel good types won’t have a clue what he saying….but that looks good to those kind of people. Obama can’t compete with that….he only speaks “Teleprompter” English that needs to be translated by some monotone translator
William Eaton on January 29, 2013 at 1:23 AM
Ummm Obama can’t run again, just FYI.
SgtSVJones on January 29, 2013 at 1:49 AM
Cut Eaton some slack. It’s pretty clear he’s not playing with a full deck. He actually thinks we’re going to get Latino voters out of this.
xblade on January 29, 2013 at 2:11 AM
What do we do with the people not interested in following this path?
MayBee on January 29, 2013 at 2:16 AM
Why are you worried if I am playing with a full deck or not?
I doubt any immigration deal is going to get done.
That is the point. This is all theater. This is so that Rubio can get in front of TV, for 2016, and yes you can get Latino votes out of this. It does not matter if they pass immigration reform or not, the GOP has to start winning some Latino votes based demographics…only around 40%, that would be enough.
So instead of bitching and complaining about the world at least someone has a plan to obtain that goal.
No shit…really? I did not know that. I am talking about the current immigration debate we are having, not 2016. Any conflict between Rubio vs. Obama on this and Obama loses.
William Eaton on January 29, 2013 at 2:59 AM

Barky speaks Bahasa Indonesian, which is much more “exotic” and third-worldy than Spanish. He eats dogs, too … to absorb the power of their spirits. Maybe Rubio will chomp on a rat for the competition?
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on January 29, 2013 at 6:11 AM
It’s time for the Red States to form their own country. However, I have to keep reminding myself the GOP loves this bill.
It’s Washington vs America.

yepper…
cmsinaz on January 29, 2013 at 6:30 AM
It’s going to pass both the Senate and House as is and then Barry can veto it. There are people in the Latino caucus like Luis Gutierrez who want this done. And Guiterrez went straight to the two people who have even more of an interest to get this done than he does.. See Rubio and Ryan. If Barry wants to oppose even the appearance of compromise on enforcement because Rubio had a few good weeks of.press on this, then by all means go ahead. Rubio and Univision have a tense relationship over a personal extortion thing; however, the anchor made Barry quite uncomfortable during the campaign because immigration reform didn’t happen and I’m sure that they’d be more than happy to have Rubio on.

If they can’t find 11 million illegal trespassers how can they find 300 million guns.
tjexcite on January 29, 2013 at 7:23 AM
Just Kabuki now. Obama opposes, but then caves to the Senate. On the R side, the GOP outraged by Obamas obstruction, but happy when he caves. Keep both bases happy. Nothing but Kabuki.
