This is a good debate in which a lot of people are getting taught the differences between what weapons exist. But even banning all firearms in this country is not going to stop people from committing murder or stop the mentally ill from going on murderous rampages.

It's sad but understandable that the folks from Newtown want their loss to mean something and if this were to be successful, I don't think the ultimate message would be the positive one that they seek.
My favorite comment from one of the participants at the march.

“The issue is guns. The Second Amendment gives us the right to own guns, but it’s not the right to own any gun,” she said. “These are assault weapons, made for killing people.”

Could these folks be any less informed?

500-650K in the March for Life

The exaggerations of the attendance at that event have always been comical.

Not that a lot of people don't show up, it's just always funny how they are counted by different people.

Why, there were two million people there the year I went.

Last weekend more people FOR gun rights gathered at some of the state capitols. There were rallies at 49 state capitols, and some of the rallies had 2-3000 people.

How many did the March for Life draw, and did the WaPo cover it?

A: Lots more, and no, they didn’t. GFY WaPo.

You phuktards always do this. Learn to read and learn to count. You might get more support if cut down on the hyperbolic BS and victimhood.

WaPo and most of the media I saw covered the March for Life and there was even more coverage than usual because of the milestone anniversary. I just had a look at the WAPO Website and found 13 articles covering the March for Life events. I read the papers and only knew there was a gun control event because of Hot Air.

No shortage of Low <strike>Information</strike> IQ Democrat Voters posting at the WaPo link. To wit:

...perhaps cowardice cannot be tested, perhaps fear is a dynamic attribute...

...perhaps an index finger test would be more appropriate, where anyone purchasing a gun would be placed in solitary confinement for ten minutes to see if they can refrain from picking their nose in that length of time...

...in order to demonstrate power and control over their trigger finger...

...my sensors indicate there would be substantially fewer gun sales approved...

Free market capitalism does not guarantee free market guns.

Americans can always add another Amendment to the Constitution to update the Second Amendment. Times have changed. Technology has changed. America has changed.

..background check, waiting period, and test for cowardice...

...common sense...

The Republican party, which has chosen the gun lobby as a favorite campaign funding source, has been struggle to understand the reasons for their electoral losses in the last election.

The reason is so simple that its sheer simplicity is what eludes them. They are simply out of touch with the feelings of the vast majority of Americans.

This is also true of the gun issue. It is just another example of how well financed minorities can prevail against majority sentiment.

Minds are terrible things to waste. Too bad these folks never had any to begin with!
