D.C. gun-control march draws 1,000 people
“We’re living in the middle of a crisis,” said Dave Ackert, a father of two from Newtown who helped organize the group, which included others from the state. “Many, many people want to take action. Newtown wants to be remembered as a tipping point for positive change to reduce gun violence.”
Advocates said they hope that the March on Washington for Gun Control will be the first of several such events to push for tougher laws when public opinion on the issue seems to be shifting.

How many did the March for Life draw, and did the WaPo cover it?
A: Lots more, and no, they didn’t. GFY WaPo.

^My thoughts as soon as I saw the headline.

500-650K in the March for Life: not a word. Mainstream Pravda is even worse than the cold-war version.

Wow 1000?

As I went to Newbusters to find an article about the March for Life I saw this:
And this is what I remembered:
I know, I know there is no liberal bias…NONE.

I was reading comments on an article about this event from NBC4, one person said BS, far fewer than 1000 people showed up. Semi related, over 3000 showed on just the first day of the local gun show in Chantilly, VA a few weeks ago.

If a thousand people could shoot guns…..
Shy Guy on January 27, 2013 at 10:43 AM
The NRA registered well over a thousand new members in the last 45 minutes.

I’d like to see a break down of the incidence rate of “gun violence” — a matrix crossing the Perpetrator category “legal gun owner”, “illegal gun user” and “unarmed attacker” vs. “legal gun owner”, “illegal gun user”, and “unarmed victim”.
I suspect that it would be illuminating.

I’m a tad confused! These Libs seem to be saying that killing kids with a gun is wrong, and must be stopped – hence the MSM coverage. Yet, killing kids with a scraper is fine – according to the lack of MSM coverage on protests!?
OldEnglish on January 27, 2013 at 10:49 AM
There was an estimate 3,000 people in line to get into a gun show in Texas, yesterday.
Blake on January 27, 2013 at 10:51 AM
You want to be part of history, but yesterday’s numbers shows this “movement” to be less than a footnote.
thebrokenrattle on January 27, 2013 at 10:51 AM
We’ll do more than 5,000 the first day at the gun show in February in a little suburb outside New Orleans.
HondaV65 on January 27, 2013 at 10:52 AM
We had between 700 and 1000 in Richmond with the VCDL last Monday and we didn’t get a mention.

It “makes sense” if you assume that they believe that your humanity is bestowed upon you by your mother, and can be revoked at any time before birth.
Count to 10 on January 27, 2013 at 10:53 AM
Less people went to that than a WNBA game. I wouldn’t be surprised if 10-15% were just the homeless, thinking the OWS saps had returned, and were looking for some hand outs.

That idiot Senator FrankenFeinstein was on and stated she just learned that ARs with foldable stocks become fully automatic when the stock is collapsed! We have absolute morons serving this country that don’t have the brains to wash cars. God help this nation.

i know really couldn’t believe how they covered it up.
We are living in the land of oz were good moral people are cut down. where their vocies are silenced and the immoral among us are propped up. It can’t end well.

True. Those who believe the 2nd Amendment should be exercised in order to defend one’s self want laws ordered to comport with that effort. Those would be positive laws and they would reduce gun violence.
You ideas, and the many people who espouse them, reduce one’s ability to defend one’s self, leaving the most defenseless — women, the elderly and children — to increased risk of death and injury from gun violence. That would be negative laws and negative change.
We don’t want Newtown to be remembered as the tipping point for more death and lives destroyed. Ban gun-free zones in public schools; initiate a program for equipping and training school employees with firearms to defend children in their charge; and begin education programs for teaching children gun safety and use in defense of freedom.

Also not covered by
the MSMPravda:A massive boycott backed by the NRA and outdoorsmen and women outraged that the nation’s largest outdoors show banned the exhibition of assault weapons has caused the show’s organizers to abruptly cancel the week-long event in Harrisburg, Pa.

Several random thoughts.
First, why haven’t the neighbors and friends of the shooter’s mother been asked whether they ever tried to ask mom if having guns around the eventual shooter was a good idea? Obama and left loves collective action. Why no neighborhood collective action to convince this woman that she may be creating a monster? Instead, they won’t to peal back the Second Amendment for all because they can’t get in a neighbor’s face?
Second, Huckabee (I know, I know) had a compelling interview with a gun-control opponent on his FNC show last night. She lost her parents in a mass shooting in 1991. They and she were in a cafeteria when it was attacked by a lone gunman. She had a gun, but Texas then didn’t allow carry permits–so her gun was in her car. Some police were next door at a conference–with their guns locked in their cars. And as soons as someone showed up with a gun, the shooter caved, retreated, exchanged some random fire, and shot himself. Huckabee unearthed some 20-year-old testimony by her (she was awesome) before Congress, including a smirking Chuck Schumer. One point she made to Huckabee that I’ve never heard before is that so many of these mass shooters–who invariably hit gun-free zones–fold like cheap tents as soon as someone shows up with a gun.
Third, both Hannity (I know, I know) and Piro have stumbled on to the hottest competition shooter to interview and to demonstrate and discuss the various guns liberals are complaining about. She needs to become a househould name. She’s fantastic.
Finally, I find this truthful coverage of this event hilarious. I think I was flipping through CNN yesterday, and you’d have thought that the crowd was the size of the crowd that was present at MLK’s I Have a Dream speech.

One other thought: more than any other time I can remember, supporters on the right and even the right-leaning politicians are couching the debate much more in terms of self-defense. I think that’s having an effect on people in the middle of the issue. When the debate is about whether people need such-and-such a gun to hunt deer, the everyman says, “Yeah, let’s restrict ‘em.” When the debate is about the woman in Georgia, scared out of her mind with a few kids in a crawl space and whether she has a big enough enough clip to take out a resilient intruder, the everyman says, “Screw the liberals. I want people to be able to do whatever it takes to be safe.”
BuckeyeSam on January 27, 2013 at 11:36 AM
“Nearly 1000″
“Close to a 1000″
Meaning, about 200-300 people!
They were too busy with their campaign ads for Hillary in the guise of news. The fawning has begun.

No shortage of Low

You phuktards always do this. Learn to read and learn to count. You might get more support if cut down on the hyperbolic BS and victimhood.
WaPo and most of the media I saw covered the March for Life and there was even more coverage than usual because of the milestone anniversary. I just had a look at the WAPO Website and found 13 articles covering the March for Life events. I read the papers and only knew there was a gun control event because of Hot Air.
lexhamfox on January 27, 2013 at 11:50 AM
On HuffPo yesterday they said thousands were marching, but it turned out to be less than a thousand.
Last weekend more people FOR gun rights gathered at some of the state capitols. There were rallies at 49 state capitols, and some of the rallies had 2-3000 people.
juliesa on January 27, 2013 at 12:20 PM
The exaggerations of the attendance at that event have always been comical.
Not that a lot of people don’t show up, it’s just always funny how they are counted by different people.
Why, there were two million people there the year I went.
Moesart on January 27, 2013 at 12:27 PM
My favorite comment from one of the participants at the march.
Could these folks be any less informed?
Bmore on January 27, 2013 at 12:29 PM
It’s sad but understandable that the folks from Newtown want their loss to mean something and if this were to be successful, I don’t think the ultimate message would be the positive one that they seek. There is no sense to this tragedy and trying to manufacture some doesn’t seem helpful to me.
Cindy Munford on January 27, 2013 at 12:33 PM
Just out of curiosity, how many sbowed up for the Oboobi inauguration?
AH_C on January 27, 2013 at 12:45 PM
This is a good debate in which a lot of people are getting taught the differences between what weapons exist. But even banning all firearms in this country is not going to stop people from committing murder or stop the mentally ill from going on murderous rampages.
