Boehner: It’s time to deal with immigration
“There’s a bipartisan group of members who have been meeting for three or four years now,” Boehner told the Ripon Society. “Frankly, I think they basically have an agreement. I’ve not seen the agreement. I don’t know all the pitfalls. But it’s, in my view, the right group of members.”
“My theory was that if these folks could work this out, it’d be a big step in the right direction,” Boehner said, describing the group has one that includes both “hard heads” on the Republican side, as well advocates of immigration reform. “So I would think you’re likely to hear a lot more about immigration reform on the House side soon.”
A spokesman for Boehner told the Post that Boehner was referring merely to conversations between members. “Informal groups of members constantly meet to discuss all kinds of issues–including immigration,” said spokesman Michael Steel.

Is there a single person out there who believes the border will ever be secured and that we won’t be having this same conversation again in 25 years?
Kataklysmic on January 27, 2013 at 1:13 PM
Ahem…..
Let me try this the Liberal Way :
If we can teach just ONE child how to handle a firearm safely, it will be worth it.
If we can teach just ONE preteen how to defend themselves against a bad guy, it will be worth it.
If we can teach just ONE child to hunt and learn that yes, bullets cause death so that we can eat, it will be worth it.
Unfortunately, we can’t teach a Liberal anything. Their minds are too closed. But if we could teach just ONE Liberal about the effective use of firearms, it will be worth it.

Is the border secure? Even PBS had to retract:
Ironically, a more recent PBS affiliate story is more realistic:

Amnesty will be the end of the GOP, and the end of the republic.
Anyone advocating amnesty, is not a friend of the GOP, and is an enemy of this country.
Here’s an idea: lets deport all the illegals, and declare a 10 year legal immigration moratorium. Know what would happen then? There would be a lot more jobs for unemployed Americans. You know what’s at the very top of voters concerns? Jobs. You know what the GOP would get for creating a bunch of jobs? Votes.
Rebar on January 27, 2013 at 1:18 PM
Golly!..I thought that Bohner just had some kind of epiphany and realized how he got had in the debt ceiling “negotiations”.
Apparently not, because he’s falling for the tactic again. These people are morons.
Mimzey on January 27, 2013 at 1:19 PM
It’s time to deal with job creation. Are legalizing more illegals going to create jobs? No. It will drive down wages and make jobs even more difficult to find for those here legally. Shame on Boehner!
Blake on January 27, 2013 at 1:22 PM
When they threw the social conservatives under the bus, it was warned that the fiscal conservatives were next. Unfortunately, that prediction is proving correct.
eva3071 on January 27, 2013 at 1:22 PM
Finally, build a border fence, require employers to verify citizenship, deport illegal aliens. I fully agree with you Speaker Boehner–it’s way past time to deal with immigration.
Oh…
you mean amnesty.

Still what is the solution to having leaving the door open so 12 million or so are trespassing.
Is the solution to just rounding people who do not have a right to be in the country or have over stayed their welcome. Put them on a airplane all 12 million of them. Or create some new Ellis Island all over the country where anyone can stand in line. pay a fine, take some classes and over time they can take the citizenship test. If they do no stand in line they are not just sent back on the first airplane but sent to an immigration violation jail for years, then sent back.

Boehner: It’s time to
deal with immigrationcave again.Every time the words immigration reform comes up.. every single interview, they should be saying “Lets adopted Mexico’s immigration policy.” And then they just keep saying it until the American people say it too.
You know… it’s really not that the American people are all that stupid or liberal… it’s just that too many of them are still getting their news from the mainstream media.
If enough Americans knew how Mexico treats illegal immigrants… amnesty would be dead in the water and we”d have a border fence by now. But the GOP is the problem. Not the Democrats. It’s the GOP. They won’t do a blasted thing that works.
Just like Fast and Furious should be shouted from the rooftops every freaking single time gun control comes up… this should be too. Mexico demands we remove our borders while they criminalize illegals over there! People would understand this message. It’s clear. It’s simple And that is why the GOP will never bring it up.
JellyToast on January 27, 2013 at 1:38 PM
Another liberal myth. All we have to do is remove the incentives that brought them here in the first place. No jobs. No housing. No taxpayer financed services or benefits (including education). Once we remove the incentives that brought them here, they will leave on their own.
TxAnn56 on January 27, 2013 at 1:39 PM
It’s simple enough: give any illegal worker green cards for him and his family and a whacking great cash reward if he’s the first one to turn his employer in. Fine the employer heavily and use some of it for the worker’s reward.
Shortly, there’s no jobs for illegals and no profit for the states in tolerating non-working illegals, so there’s a state-level motive to find and deport them.
This is so obvious that I can only conclude from its not already having been done that there’s no real interest in solving the problem.
PersonFromPorlock on January 27, 2013 at 1:40 PM
Shoulda said:
…to find and deport the ones who haven’t already self-deported.
PersonFromPorlock on January 27, 2013 at 1:43 PM
The GOP theme song for their fading future.
profitsbeard on January 27, 2013 at 1:48 PM
What if the only incentive they have left is freedom. They don’t want handouts. The pathway to come for freedom is still full of red tape so the come for a workers permit or education visa and then over stay that welcome when it runs out.
tjexcite on January 27, 2013 at 2:05 PM
What needs to be defined is what is Amnesty.
Is it full pardon with no penalty or is it a fine and even jail time. They you get a colored card that if you stay clean for 5 years you can take the citizenship test. Harder punishment is what is needed for those who violate immigration laws no new laws just like gun control.
tjexcite on January 27, 2013 at 2:12 PM
The Dems claim they aren’t “giving” anyone amnesty. What they are doing is selling it for fine that they will make sure is as small as possible.

My gosh, I am to the point I am almost ashamed to be a conservative.

Unlike the assault weapons ban, which is just priming the pump for the next generation of progressives, this amnesty is coming soon. Everyone on the hill wants it. Even many of the Tea Party congressman.
If it goes through … then third party. And if conservatives have no charismatic, humble, intelligent and rational leader to lead a third party then it’s over for this country as a republic.
BoxHead1 on January 27, 2013 at 2:46 PM
Ahh, yes, right on cue, lol. As I predicted yesterday in the thread about Boner apologizing for his mishandling of the “fiscal cliff” crisis, he has decided to make things right with the base by doing what he can to push amnesty.
Ok, is there anyone who still doubts this man is working for the democrat party? Anyone? If so, you are beyond all help at this point.
xblade on January 27, 2013 at 2:51 PM
What if, what if, what if. The typical fallback argument of those on the wrong side of the issue.
xblade on January 27, 2013 at 2:55 PM
IF this amnesty goes through, the demographics will ensure democrat majorities as far as the eye can see. What the idiot democrat politicians do not understand is that their jobs will eventually be on the line.
Example: John Smith, a democrat, wins an election where the republicans always won. He won due to the sudden shift in voting demographics brought by amnesty. Hurrah for the democrats. Next election, John Smith loses in the primary to Juan Ortiz-Rodriguez-Sanchez and Juan wins the general election. Oops! And corruption? John Smith and friends ain’t seen nothing yet. Political corruption south of the border is a way of life.
And p.s. Super majorities of Dems = gun confiscation.
TxAnn56 on January 27, 2013 at 3:00 PM
I only read the headline, but I assume he’s ready to mine the border.
No?

It’s time to destroy the GOP and vote for the most radical stupid retarded democrat you can find.
The GOP and Democrats are colluding to destroy the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Rep Boehner my mom’s family is from your district, I have donated to your coffers sir.
Enjoy the next two years they’re your last as Speaker.
harlekwin15 on January 27, 2013 at 3:19 PM
Freedom of speech will be gone, they will outlaw “hurtful speech” and then enforce the law unequally.
The democrats have spent the last 40 years weaponizing race and think once they have our population overtly majority minority that the other races will not bloc vote them into oblivion because “I’m Santa Claus and the smart one!”
Yeah Speaker Pelosi, the correct name is Papá Noel take a trip down I-5 to Los Angeles.
Article V break it up start over.

It’s time to get rid of the Weeping Boner. Not just tossing him from the Weepership but getting his pathetic azz out of government, period.
What a miserable, stupid, pathetic POS this crybaby is.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on January 27, 2013 at 3:32 PM
If it involves a shortcut to citizenship then it is amnesty. There is already a “pathway to citizenship” and millions have taken it. Illegals chose not to take it because it was difficult. For me – they can either take the current pathway(which does need to be reformed) or they can take the pathway back home. To any immigrants currently doing it the right way it is a slap in the face and there should be no way any illegal should get citizenship before those doing it properly. How about a one year window to leave the country, after that any one illegally here loses any chance of becoming a citizen and be deported?
Corsair on January 27, 2013 at 4:21 PM
If it gives legal residency, then it’s already past amnesty as legal residency and work permits are all that illegals are trying to steal, to begin with. If it includes a path to citizenship (as if illegals aren’t already citizens of other nations) then it is “aiding and abetting” a further crime, far past the crime that illegals have been committing.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on January 27, 2013 at 4:27 PM
TPOP, I respect the nuance but we the majority of America every time it is polled with JUST AMERICANS do not have representation.
The Federal Government will throw YOU into prison for not paying your taxes but will not prosecute 10,000,000 guys named Juan for identity fraud, Tax Fraud…..
why should any poor native follow the law, not moonlight, not run a cash business under the table?
Why honor law at all when 40 million lawless who under their home nation’s laws would be subject to felony prosecution play “do as we want mi amigo?”
If this is the “Republic” the “Republic” needs destroyed and the states need to start over.
harlekwin15 on January 27, 2013 at 4:32 PM
That’s the problem. We define “right” differently.
