“We don’t need a new pair of shoes; we just need to shine our shoes”
But the party’s main problem, dozens of Republican National Committee members argued in interviews over three days this week, is who delivers its message and how, not the message itself. Overwhelmingly they insisted that substantive policy changes aren’t the answer to last year’s losses.
Moderation, at least at this stage, is no virtue at the RNC.
“It’s not the platform of the party that’s the issue,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said Friday after being easily reelected to a second, two-year term. “In many cases, it’s how we communicate about it. It is a couple dumb things that people have said.”…
Behind closed doors, party bigwigs discussed “strategic partnerships” with blacks, Asians, Hispanics and women. There was talk about developing a “comfort factor” so that minorities feel they are part of the process.
“Actually our principles are more conducive to minorities than the Democrats,” said Holland L. Redfield II, the Virgin Island’s national committeeman.

To focus on your own personal group is selfish and frankly, sick. I don’t want any part of it.

It could have a clumsier figure of speech. I’m still trying to think of one though.

“We don’t need new baggage; we just need some minorities to help us carry the baggage we have.”
Nah, I tried but shining shoes is still the one to beat.

The Republican Party just needs to keep its shoes on, and should stop playing bare-toe-footsie under the table with radicals, liberals and progressives.

No, it’s the active undermining that goes on due to Republican squirrelyness. Look at how the GOP undermined and abandoned Alan Keyes against Obama when Keyes told the truth: Jesus wouldn’t vote for Obama. He was branded a Jesus freak and religious zealot, which not only stigmatized Keyes but also insulted the GOP base. What the GOP needs most is the courage to stand up for their convictions, knowing that they’re right because their approach is principled. If they mean to run around like chickens with their heads cut off every time the Left attacks a candidate as “ignorant” or “outdated,” then no matter their conference-room strategies they will lose lose lose…and deserve to.

What you have to show people is that
1. The Democrats don’t actually ever want to solve the problems that have plagued your city for decades. They simply want to send you a check so you can live with the problem but on the other hand they want to make absolutely certain the problems are never really fixed so that you continue to require that check and vote them into office.
2. The Republicans are actually interested in empowering the people to find a way out of their current situation and escape the cycle of poverty and dependence and poor education.
The first step in doing that is that the LOCAL Republican committees need to go on a recruiting drive and get people signed up. People who call themselves Republicans are much less likely to actually be involved with their LOCAL party committee than Democrats are. This is why you see local city council meetings, planning commission meetings, hearings on various issues, etc. dominated by Democrats.
The local party committee is NOT the national RNC. They do not get funding from the RNC. Their funding comes from the local community. People need to get involved with their local party. Most counties or regions have a local Republican Committee. Join. Participate.
We need LOCAL organization focused on LOCAL issues and we need a strong recruiting drive among the people themselves by the people themselves. Take a current hot-spot issue, maybe gun control, start actively signing up people who are opposed to any local attempt to restrict rights. Get another issue, maybe the recent decision to make it illegal to unlock your phone. There are dozens of such issues if you look. Look for local regulation proposals that take away the rights of the people and treat us like children. Your LOCAL Republican committee is a reflection of the local people involved in it, not dictated from the national party.

Problem is, they’re wearing suede.
(remark was not racist, just meaningless and noncommittal)
