Report: Obama may invite Sandy Hook families to SOTU as part of gun-control push
The White House’s gun-centered campaign will begin in earnest on Friday, with Biden traveling to Richmond with Sen. Timothy M. Kaine (D-Va.) and several Cabinet secretaries to hold a roundtable session focused in part on the 2007 mass shooting at Virginia Tech.
Obama, meanwhile, will hit the road soon and is expected to make an emotional appeal in his State of the Union address, scheduled for Feb. 12. The White House is considering inviting families of the children who died in last month’s school shooting in Newtown, Conn., to join first lady Michelle Obama in her viewing box, said a Democratic source close to the White House.

More dancing on the graves of dead children. These people are so evil that it’s a wonder that they aren’t helping kill more children so they can have a wider dance floor.
Oh wait, . . . that IS what they are trying to do.
platypus on January 25, 2013 at 1:26 PM
He should put them in white lab coats too.
Chuck Schick on January 25, 2013 at 1:27 PM
Like other progressives, Obama cannot feel shame or embarrassment.
Fallon on January 25, 2013 at 1:27 PM
You bet he will try. I wonder if he might encounter resistance from some of the families.
Missy on January 25, 2013 at 1:27 PM
Probably not from the ones that are Democrats.
Ward Cleaver on January 25, 2013 at 1:30 PM
If the GOP had any guts they would not even show up for the state of the union address and have a protest outside of congress. The progressive MSM would scream but it would be a wonderful political stunt to get their message to the American people, because the MSM would be forced to cover it.
William Eaton on January 25, 2013 at 1:33 PM
Interesting notion. It makes sense (to them) that there’s little difference between violence in the womb and violence in the school. They just don’t like children which raises the question of why so few of them sterilize themselves.
platypus on January 25, 2013 at 1:34 PM
Why wouldn’t he, he has not talent other than using strawmen.
NickelAndDime on January 25, 2013 at 1:34 PM
Plus they (the GOP) should wear Guy Fawkes masks at the State of the Union. That would send the left into complete meltdown. At the worst it would force the leftist to stop running around with that mask on at anti-freedom rallies. They will never wear it again if they see conservatives wearing them.
William Eaton on January 25, 2013 at 1:37 PM
That would backfire miserably. The MSM would simply put forth the notion that the GOP didn’t have the guts to sit in the same room with these parents.

Probably not. Still, I wonder. Parents of murdered children aren’t your average SOTU sob story. I hope for their sake he treads lightly.
Missy on January 25, 2013 at 1:39 PM
That is downright ghoulish.
I would hope that the American people would see that and say enough. But after the election, I have to wonder.

Will Christie criticize ?
Joey24007 on January 25, 2013 at 1:39 PM
I think it would be worthwhile to look at whether the “lessons” have been learned from the VA tech incident. This is the same type of unhinged person, whose family did not know what to do with him.
Nothing to do with the second amendment, or hunting.
This incident and Sandy Hook have not got anything to do with most of the urban gun violence seen in President Obama’s neighborhood in Chicago. For that, we don’t need very much to cure it, if you use a stolen gun to commit a violent crime, you get 20 extra years added on to your sentence. It would clean out the problems in Chicago and give “The Community” a chance to start over again.
Democrats would not like this kind of gun control, because it is democrat voters who use stolen guns.
Fleuries on January 25, 2013 at 1:43 PM
Man, there is an ugliness and iron-fistedness about the democrat party today.
Perhaps the Speaker should invite people who’ve been able to defend themselves and others as guests.
Also, people whose families were oppressed by dictators and communist governments.
LilyBart on January 25, 2013 at 1:44 PM
“And here with us tonight is the family of Chrissy Brown, a lovely 5 yr old young lady, who had her head blown clean off”
This should play well on live TV.

what a despicable asshat. go to hell Obama.
tom daschle concerned on January 25, 2013 at 1:46 PM
Wasn’t there all kinds of gnashing of teeth on the left because they claimed that the gun nuts were standing on piles of dead kids while pushing a political agenda.
Dr. Frank Enstine on January 25, 2013 at 1:48 PM
Obama’s lawyers need to go back and look at US v. Miller (1939) where the supreme court ruled by UNANIMOUS decision that the Second Amendment pertains to “ordinary military equipment” that could “contribute to the common defense” and that “a Militia comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense.”
Obama needs to leave our AR-15′s alone, stop wasting time on this issue, and get on to issues more pressing such as how he can stop screwing up our economy.

*gasp*
This is unreal even for Prez Alinsky.
PattyJ on January 25, 2013 at 1:49 PM
It has already been rumored that Obama is going to spend the entire night hammering the GOP with all sorts of other things. It is not a state of the union, it is a Fascist political rally. OK how about this…They can show up and can walk out when Obama attacks the GOP on something else not related to Sandy Hook or guns, which he is bound to do at some point.
If you stay the MSM will hammer the GOP no matter what they do so you might as well get your political point across and surprise Obama. Sitting there in silence, the MSM will say the GOP is not emotional enough, did not clap enough, etc. That deep down they know Obama is right.

I do not give a flying flit who bho has at the sotu! NO WAY in he11 will we watch or listen to this lying anti-American! bho will just blame the r’s for everything since our Republic was founded!

The GOP should issue a statement that says something like this:
Weight of Glory on January 25, 2013 at 1:50 PM
Outside of his base, I can’t imagine that this would play well. Considering how the families have kept themselves out of the spotlight, I don’t imagine they’ll put themselves out there in such cynical circumstances.
Not to say that Obama won’t try, mind you.
landshark on January 25, 2013 at 1:52 PM
Truly classless to use these people to advance his anti US agenda. I wish I could say I am shocked at this disgusting idea.

Human shields.
Typical Democrat propaganda campaign.

An appropriate response to this crass milking of the Sympathy Card is: “What difference does it make?”
Besides, for each Sandy Hook family volunteering to be used by the Obama and the Dems, there are many more who have been saved by guns. So, their Absolute Moral Authority is easily countered.
Christien on January 25, 2013 at 2:04 PM
According to the 2012 election results, Newtown went about 50-50 in the Presidential race. It’s not quite as Blue as some parts of CT, despite the fact that it is in Fairfield County.

I want the families of the victims, actors pretending to be doctors, at least 3 pastors, rabbis, and imams…and puppies.
If we can get a unicorn I want one of them too.
And I want the entire thing filmed by Spielberg.

OTOH, if he’s as ham-handed about it and as verbally inept as he usually is, highlighted by his blatant political use of the bodies of dead children to further his socialist agenda, the disgust generated could derail a lot of his plans.

IF anyone ever hears about it. And the progressive media outlets are never going to allow anything good or beneficial about guns be publicized.

That is exactly what they did – unintentional or not.

“Which reminds me of my own daughters, Sasha and Malia. I can’t imagine if anything like that ever happened to them”. *wipes away a tear* “And that’s why, today, I’m signing the ‘Sasha and Malia, so that nothing like this ever happens to them’ executive order outlawing the owning of any firearms within 1 mile of any school.”
Paul-Cincy on January 25, 2013 at 2:49 PM
Yesterday it was policy based on letters from live children, today it’s policy based on the emotions engendered by the loss of children, by dead children. And Sasha and Malia too. Of course.

Move over Pierce, there’s enough room for both of us to stand here.

If they wanted to do this right the administration should have a recreated Sandy Hook classroom behind Obama while he lectures us.
