Paul Ryan blames election loss on poor communication, turnout
Ending a self-imposed silence about the November election, 2012 Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan said on Wednesday that he and presidential running mate Mitt Romney lost not because of ideas, but due to ineffective communication.
Ryan said Democratic President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden also prevailed because they did a better job with “technology and (voter) turnout.”
“We have to learn that,” said Ryan, chairman of the House of Representatives Budget Committee. “We have to fix that.” …
“We have to do a better job of explaining and demonstrating why our ideas are better” on such issues as fighting poverty and helping people move up “the ladder of life,” Ryan said.

3 million conservatives were communicated with perfectly… AND WE STAYED HOME
The last two years have revealed just what the republicans have become.
……………… un-believers

Romney was really only animated to attack during the primary. After that, it was all about soothing people to think of Obama as a nice guy who was just simply in over his head. I personally think he planned to lose the election. He was only in the race in order to pave the way for a second term of Obama.

Sorry for bringing up the race card, but I wonder had Obama not been a minority would Romney or anybody else Dems included treated him with like old dynamite?

There were many factors, but I what I keep coming back to is how timid Romney and Ryan were in the general election. They really needed to go after Obama and tie him to the state of the economy. Citing a bunch of weak stats is fine and may score you debate points, but they should’ve personalized it and used real life stories of how Obama was harming the American people and how 4 more years of that misery was unacceptable.
If you look at exit polls, the primary reason Obama got reelected(assuming it wasn’t something unspoken like a majority of voters not wanting to fire the first (half)black President) was that most Americans felt he cared more about them than Romney did. For that narrative to take hold when Obama was p-ssing away millions on lavish parties and vacations, jetting to Vegas the morning after 4 Americans were murdered by terrorists, and hitting up Hollywood and Wall Street for countless fundraisers was inexcusable. That tells me the Romney campaign played defense far more than offense which makes no sense when the other guy is the incumbent with the lousy record.

Yeah, jabroni, I’m sure that’s it. I’m sure Mitt was thinking: let me spend a year and a half of my life being the target of a guy whom I secretly agree with while he reduces my character into that of a tax felon and murderer.
crrr6 on January 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM
With a straight face, he should have blamed George Bush, just to see the reaction.

The communication was perfect to Conservatives. Both candidates were duds and thank you to blogs like Hot Air for pumping them ad nauseum!

Didn’t we mock Democrats for using this as an excuse after the 2010 mid-terms?
Darth Executor on January 24, 2013 at 10:06 AM
There was no secret that he agreed with Obama. It was public knowledge. kind of sad how pathetic the voters are to the propaganda push from the Romney sycophants.

“It come from Obama’s stash.”
fogw on January 24, 2013 at 10:08 AM
Yeah, poor communication, like that sorry excuse for centralized poll tracking software that you tried to deploy on Election Day.
Ryan should have just been left alone as the head of the Budget Committee. That’s where he can do the most good, that’s where he made his name, and having now trudged through a modern presidential election, he returns to his post diminished, because he’s been Palin’d for life.

We lost to voters who were bought with some of the 6 trillion that we have been borrowing over the past 4 years and spent out in entitlements.
Romney was right when he said it first and we all know it. Obama got all the food stamp vote. He got most of the unemployment vote. He got all the welfare family votes. He got most the union vote. He got 90% of those in media. And the 20 year olds who voted for the reelection deserve the big tax bill that is being piled on their backs right now. You OWN it!
Bensonofben on January 24, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Exactly. The progs are a known quantity: even if their internal psychology is unknowable, their goals and tactics are perfectly clear.
But the most enraging and baffling question to me since the election is the nature of these so-called conservative patriots who stayed home and enabled the worst president in history to achieve a second term. So now my child’s future is seriously jeopardized because of a bunch of onanistic egoists who hewed to their “principles”. Thanks for nothing, dupes.
Martin Luthier on January 24, 2013 at 10:36 AM
shit candidate +shit ideas = you lose again
If you’re really desperate to win you just have to redraw a bunch of voting districts in key states.
Oh, wait – you’re already doing that.
So stop filling your diaper – you have nothing to worry about.
Dave Rywall on January 24, 2013 at 10:38 AM
Actually, I think that it will end up being a net plus for Ryan, but it really depends what he wants to do with it. Palin did a poor job managing her post election image. If she wanted to remain a national player, she never should have quit the governorship. Ryan has done a much better job so far (i.e. the debt ceiling situation), but it is early. He’s a more experienced politician than she is, and I think that his cerebral style works better with indies.
Ryan will be an interesting case study in whether the losing VP candidate can actually retain influence and have a national political career. The past three losing candidates haven’t because of issues specific to them. Lieberman was out-of-step with the Democrat party on foreign policy. Edwards is a morally abhorrent individual. Palin wasn’t ready for prime time during the campaign. Ryan doesn’t have any of those issues.

Communist low IQ scum Dave Rywall… Obama won the parasite vote… A majority of those who make over $ 50,000 a year and pay over 95% of the total income tax voted for Romney… A majority of those who make less than $ 50,000 a year and pay less than 5% of the total income tax voted for Obama…

Moreover the super vast majority of parasites whether they are living fully or partially on the producers expense voted for Obama…

Is it really a mystery to you why that narrative took hold? Good grief! Romney explicitly told half the nation that he wasn’t worried about their concerns!

You’re an enormous a-hole.

Ya lost because ya weren’t conservative enough especially Mittness! !!

Bullshit. ‘Bots always seem to fail at logic. Oh wait, don’t tell me: “Romney was my fourth or fifth choice!!!!”
A vote for Romney was a vote for Romney. A vote for O was a vote for O. A vote for neither was a vote for neither. Got it?
ddrintn on January 24, 2013 at 12:17 PM
Anyone who does not pay around $15,833 a year in federal combined taxes is a parasite when it comes to the federal government. I can assure you that people making less than 50k a year fall right into that category.
astonerii on January 24, 2013 at 12:54 PM
We are supposed to be a country where the consent of the governed is granted. The whole vote for no one argument being a vote for the enemy misses the point that some of us just do not consent to the government we have or the possible government our votes consent to.
Effectively, if you voted for Obama or you voted for Romney in this election, that includes me, you directly consented to the outcome. Those who did not vote did not consent to this government.

No. A dupe is one that consents to a makeup sex at election time with the GOP only to get ignored and shafted till the next encounter. I and 3 million others refuse to get screwed again by louts. Look at where the GOP is going now with the debt ceiling and budget. Is this what you wanted? Don’t blame us, blame them to our kids.
Finally, a vote for neither is NOT a vote for Oboobi otherwise he’d have a mandate by racking our 3 million votes to his final tally. As it stands now, he barely beat Mittness, thus mandate denied. This is what the GOP needs to take solace from and stiffen their spine. Iinstead, they blame US for making them roll over unto their belly. Yeah. Right.
AH_C on January 24, 2013 at 1:51 PM

——-
2012
Won the popular vote by 8 million
Crushed Romney 332 – 206 in the EC
Not a mandate?
2004
Bush won popular vote by 3 million
Squeaked EC 286-251
Every jackass on the right was screaming MANDATE MANDATE MANDATE from the rooftops
You’re an idiot.
Dave Rywall on January 24, 2013 at 2:02 PM
No one was running around screaming mandate in ’04.
The libturds like you were running around saying Bush does NOT have a mandate
Let’s review, idiot:
As we can see, BO won by 5 million.
If you add the 3 million conserveratives that withheld their vote for RM, then it would be 8 million.
My point was that a vote for neither is NOT a vote for the winner. Otherwise Oboobi would have had a greater mandate.
Hence mandate denied, because if you attribute the 3 million votes to Mittness, depending on the distribution, it would be another case of winning the popular vote and losing the EC, either way, mandate denied for Obooni.
Pay attention to what is said and use some critical thinking to what is meant. IDIOT!!!
Then factor in the following 3rd party results (assuming the majority would otherwise pull for BO or RM, but in fact neither):
Again, mandate denied to Oboobi, just as mandate would have been denied to Mittness if 3rd party votes were attributed to both BO & RM based on left or right leaning affiliation. IDIOT.
If you want to talk about mandate, Reagan is your model and the reason he was able to win as much as he could in spite of donk majorities in House and at times in Senate. The donks knew he had a mandate and “caved” more often than not, not to mention with the help of blue dogs. Jump to today and Oboobi won as much as he did, not because he had a mandate, ever, but that yellow dog (GOPe) gave more than resisted because they were progressively closer to him ideologically than they were to conservative principles. IDIOT!!!
