In four years we’ll be inaugurating President Rubio
Chris Christie can bully and berate, but can he make the hair on the back of your neck stand up? Paul Ryan knows budgets inside and out, but can he inspire? Bobby Jindal has the best resume around, but can he make you want to run through a wall for him?
The verdict is still out on that. Maybe one of them, or somebody else, will rise to the occasion.
But words do matter. In this regard, President Obama was correct when, during the 2008 primaries, he said — borrowing from Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick — “Don’t tell me words don’t matter … I have a dream’ — just words. ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’ — just words. ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself’ — just words.”
It’s undeniable that words are important. Words can summon men to do great things or even inspire a nation.
Don’t tell me words don’t matter. Marco Rubio has the words. He has the charisma. He has the policy chops. And he has the personal story.

Dream on. Ain’t gonna happen. Just coronate Shrillery and get it over with. We’re a welfare state. The welfare state guy (or gal) will win every election going forward.
Rational Thought on January 22, 2013 at 8:05 PM
Yes, and they can also delude people. See ‘hope’ and ‘change’.

Another moderate amnesty shill and big government promoter for the GOP nomination? Sure, why not? I’m sure he’ll do much better than McCain and Romney.
Armin Tamzarian on January 22, 2013 at 8:08 PM
If we’re not careful, in four years we’ll be inaugurating President Rubio, or President Christie, or President Jeb Bush, or President Hillary Clinton, or President Biden, or President __________________ (fill in the blank with the progressive and/or liberal flavor of the month).
We CAN do better – We MUST do better.
Pork-Chop on January 22, 2013 at 8:09 PM
can someone puhleeze take rubios junk out of matts mouth.
renalin on January 22, 2013 at 8:10 PM
I would be impressed by Rubio if he made the Constitution his first priority rather than blathering on about immigration.
The well-being of the country should be his personal hobby-horse.
I’m all for words, charisma and bio if the policy chops are there. Rubio doesn’t have those.
INC on January 22, 2013 at 8:10 PM
If they put Hillary against Rubio who is young, charismatic and smart guy. I think the voters will vote for the young, charismatic person.
terryannonline on January 22, 2013 at 8:11 PM
Not a chance in hell.
wolly4321 on January 22, 2013 at 8:11 PM
We could do worse. Oh, wait, we already have… one term of Obama with the second just started.

I still like Sen. Rubio. I may not agree with everything he does (didn’t even do that with Pres. Reagan) but I think he still has a clear idea of what this country is and what it was built on. I think he still believes in freedom and in the individual. I don’t think he will ever be ashamed of the United States.
Cindy Munford on January 22, 2013 at 8:14 PM
I`m thinking……. Walker/Paul 2016
ThePrez on January 22, 2013 at 8:14 PM
Ok. Who do you have in mind?
terryannonline on January 22, 2013 at 8:14 PM
We’ll see about that.
lester on January 22, 2013 at 8:15 PM
Just think…
Only 4 full years of crap like this from GOPe pundits.
And this guy hasn’t even peeled the MITTENS!! sticker off his bumper.
james23 on January 22, 2013 at 8:16 PM
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again..
Having Hillary Clinton as POTUS would have sucked out loud…but she would have been way better than the sorry sob we got now…

Whomever it is will probably feel a lot like Konrad Adenauer inheriting Adolf’s mess to clean up.

That’s what you do when you know Obama is your president for the next four years, dream of someone different and play the lottery, your only chance to make any money until 2017. Unless you have a useless global warming scam that your keeping from us.

Internalize these words from yesterday
Maggots rule the world, oblivious to the fact that the body they feed from is dead.

how can you be serious about rubio. he has mitt and the birther issue hanging around his. on top of that he’s the chosen one of the same knuckleheads that gave us mccain and romney.
you want a threepeat?
renalin on January 22, 2013 at 8:18 PM
Rubio, the guy who wants amnesty, which will add 20 million new democrat voters and end the republic?
No thanks.
Besides, the next president will be Deval Patrick, guaranteed. In the new tribal America, free stuff and skin color trumps all.
Rebar on January 22, 2013 at 8:18 PM
I think communication skills will matter for the next Republican candidate. I’m sick of having Republicans who can’t communicate.

BUSH PUPPET/BUSH PUPPET 2016 – the next best thing to Jeb/George ’16!
Jeddite on January 22, 2013 at 8:19 PM
Rubio is a latino Pawlenty, it turns out he is rather squishy. So far, Rand Paul looks and sounds most attractive.

i’m sick of republicans who don’t have ideals. lets start with small government. lowering taxes and securing our borders.

SouthernGent on January 22, 2013 at 8:21 PM
Birthers really stopped Obama from being re-elected. LOL!!!!
terryannonline on January 22, 2013 at 8:21 PM
Check out Ted Cruz.
Rebar on January 22, 2013 at 8:21 PM
I would love that. All the right teeth would gnash.
thebrokenrattle on January 22, 2013 at 8:21 PM
Darlin, don’t waste time on us, go directly to the White House. Being a bundler for him would have helped but he’s all in to invest our funds.
Cindy Munford on January 22, 2013 at 8:21 PM
LOL whatever. In 4 years the boomers will be that much closer to death and the realization that all their phony BS in business, government and life in general was totally fruitless. They’ll be on full on suicide bomber mode. We’ll either get Chuck Schumer, Alan Grayson or Roseanne Barr. Or, if the commies still feel the need to seduce us we’ll get MATT DAMON! or whoeverthehell Castro just because his name is Castro.
This is a bullsh!tter civilization and they will elect a bullsh!tter. And I’m being optimistic that votes are even counted anymore.
bernverdnardo1 on January 22, 2013 at 8:22 PM
It’s a little far out. Save the rivalries for the primaries.
lexhamfox on January 22, 2013 at 8:22 PM
Considering Rubio’s Republican opponents are probably going to be Santorum, Bachmann, Huckabee, and Scarborough (yes he will), I’m perfectly happy with Rubio.
Marcus on January 22, 2013 at 8:23 PM
I like Rand Paul and Sen. Cruz also. I’m keeping an open mind.
Cindy Munford on January 22, 2013 at 8:23 PM
We could do worse.
We could also do better.
But the perfect is the enemy of the good. He’s good, let’s not chase phantoms if we don’t have to.
JeffWeimer on January 22, 2013 at 8:24 PM
Let`s just go with Chuck Norris and be done with it. Imagine the debates. Norris glaring at the moderator, making them wet their pants. A stage hand quickly emptying Joe Biden`s drool cup.
ThePrez on January 22, 2013 at 8:24 PM
So Republican are being called racists and you want to nominate a guy from the South who has issues with the Civil Rights Act. Perfect.
terryannonline on January 22, 2013 at 8:24 PM
sadly for rubio, he’s but a white hispanic. the dems will peg him as a spaniard, and he’ll lose 98% of the hispanic vote.
renalin on January 22, 2013 at 8:25 PM
Yea Rubio!!
Because if the last two elections proved anything, it’s that what America is hungry for – is a beltway Republican.
keep the change on January 22, 2013 at 8:26 PM
Rubio vs. Biden? That’s what we are getting from the Hot Air tea leafs. And that would be a delicious match-up.

*tea leaves
