Frank Lautenberg: Cory Booker’s being disrespectful by opposing me or something
“I have four children, I love each one of them. I can’t tell [you] that one of them wasn’t occasionally disrespectful, so I gave them a spanking and everything was okay,” Lautenberg told the Philadelphia Inquirer.Aides and allies of Lautenberg have criticized Booker for launching a campaign without waiting for the senator to decide whether or not to run again. Polling finds Booker in a strong position in a Democratic primary.
Lautenberg, who turns 89 on Wednesday, has yet to announce his own plans. He said the mayor was “entitled” to run but would have to work for the seat, regardless of what happens.

“And you`re being racist!” There, that should shut him up.

Poor Frank. He’s about to find out that even the “Holy D” has limits to the type of protection it has to offer. The (D) only offers protection against Republicans and upstart Democrats with insufficient connections. Unfortunately for Frank, a Democrat with prefered liberal social status now wants his spot.
I’m sure the Democrats would love nothing more than to set Corey Booker up as Barack Obama 2.0 -but for that to happen, he’ll need to have a spot in a statewide office. Sorry Frank, but you’re a 90-year old white guy, and you’ve now gone past your use-by date. As far as the rest of the Democrats are concerned, if they decide it’s better to have Corey Booker in that spot, you may as well be a Republican………

Wouldn’t Booker beat him in the primary?

At least Frank will always have that train station in Secaucus that bears his name.

Lautenberg turns 89 on Wednesday. That means he will be 90 at the time of the next election, and a couple weeks from turning 91 when sworn in. If he were to win, that means his term would last until he was almost 97. No disrespect to our elders intended, but do we really want a 97-year-old Senator?
