Were westerners among the jihadis at the Algerian BP plant?
Two of the dead Islamists from Canada were found in the smouldering remains of a compound at the BP gas plant.
One security source today confirmed that the Canadians are suspected of having travelled to Libya, where they joined extremists waging Jihad against the west.
The men’s badly charred corpses were found close to their victims, many of whom had been forced to wear Semtex explosive belts before being killed.
The source said Canadian passports were found on the terrorists at the In Amanas facility, in the deep Sahara some 1,000 miles from Algiers, the capital of Algeria.

Those terms are mutually exclusive. Just because London is your address doesn’t make you a member of Western society.

A few days ago there was a media report that one of the survivors said one of the jihadis was a tall blond with blue or green eyes that spoke in a non-English language to the Norwegian hostages that the hostages could understand but the other hostages couldn’t.

Agreed. It has some import that they had passports from, and residences in, Western countries, vis-a-via security here and such, but that they offered the question without qualification or purpose, was Loose Change-ish inanity.

Tall blond terrorist is not rare, tall blond blue-eyed muslim terrorist is mostly unheard of. Probably confusion at the heat of the moment.

It could be exactly what it sounds like. A European convert to Islam, but that still doesn’t make him a member of Western Civilization. Maybe I should have said the West and Islam are mutually exclusive.
