Time for Colin Powell to criticize the GOP again
“The Republican Party ought to be out there not restricting voting by voter ID, but saying we want everybody to vote,” he told Sawyer and Stephanopoulos. “It’s a party that has to stop saying, ‘We are going to appeal to you with new messages.’ You need policies — the country is becoming more minority.”
Powell, who endorsed President Obama’s reelection bid in October, said that his critiques of the GOP have left some wondering, “Why are you still a Republican?”
Because, Powell said, “I grew up under Ronald Reagan and Cap Weinberger and George Schultz and George Herbert Walker Bush — that’s the Republican party I know — the Howard Bakers of the world, and I think we’ve drifted from that. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with trying to drift a little bit back. Not because it’s just good to be moderate, but because that’s where the American people are. They lost an election — two.”

We want everyone who is entitled to vote to vote, and not a single person more!
You expect what you inspect. If you don’t put proper controls in place and check noting, nothing is what you get.

In other words, Monday.

Why would we want everyone to vote? Do I get to vote in Mexico? The UK? Iran?
Fenris on January 21, 2013 at 1:05 PM
Obama was re-immaculated today, Powell. You can drop the pretense now.
Jeddite on January 21, 2013 at 1:05 PM
Time for Mr. Powell to retire. He’s clearly going senile.

Colon Powell, the maggot with nary a soul, the ‘man’ who sold his soul to any party which would have his hue, and no talent at all, here are a few items the Ds should speak out on:
- Slavery is now legal in Egypt and Mali, and other places in Afika and ME.
- Women, Christians and gays have NO rights in same areas.
- Benghazi
- Algiers
- Lybian weapons in Algeria
- Fast and Furious
- Women rights in the shady world
- Fat cats on WS and in banking (oh, yeah, Obama is owned by them fat rich white guys).
Etc.
Hypocrite Colon Powell, go to Hades. You are not even an eunuch.

Powell urges GOP leaders to do things because he is neither GOP nor leader. Discuss.
Karl on January 21, 2013 at 1:09 PM
There’s no reasoning with a zombie, especially not a craven, pusillanimous zombie.
And it’s also worth noting that John McCain and Mitt Romney were in the same Northeastern moderate mold that he claims to love, and yet he endorsed Obama twice. For Powell, melanin is thicker than water. To think we were ready to nominate this weasel against Clinton in 1996.
Powell’s going to run out of long knives if he keeps this up.

Mooching maggots…the body ain’t gon’ be there for you to feed off of…you will all starve, hopefully in pain, in the dark/cold. May your Looters all be destroyed, first. You are all leeches of the world. None has sucked the system more dry than Colon Powell, for shame. He has no convictions, no accomplishments, just looting and mooching

I wonder how many low-rankers would love to put his treasonous puss on their target ranges…along with that of the craven coward that the citizens they protect have forced them to serve under.

Yet another example of someone that demands universal devotion to Dear Leader, preaching about intolerance.
Heal thyself, hypocrite.

Colin Powell is worried about Colin Powell’s legacy. That’s what all this is about.
Colin Powell has long been one of the go-to alleged Republicans for the liberal NYC-DC hoity-toity media crowd. They won’t be able to say hero enough times about him.
Moesart on January 21, 2013 at 1:27 PM
It’s neat how he doesn’t even realize what he’s saying there.
rogerb on January 21, 2013 at 1:30 PM
Colon royally screwed up his speech at the UN.
He owns that. Forever.
And he’s trying everything he can to distract from that crap skidmark on his legacy.
Colon, I feel your pain but dude…get over it.
CorporatePiggy on January 21, 2013 at 1:32 PM
Finally Powell is coming out of the closet. He is not referring to the Republican Party as us but as “they”. He finally stated something that the whole world apart from him already knew: he is not a Republican.
Can we finally move on from this charlatan?
Erikimmigrant on January 21, 2013 at 1:44 PM
Those nasty Republicans want to keep the dead from voting!
gwelf on January 21, 2013 at 1:49 PM
I am so totally sure that Colon Powell is trying to get America in ownership by the progressives. “You break it, you own it” I think he said, way back when he had, apparently unearned, credibility.

Don’t be afraid to say it: It’s the GOP’s fault.
gwelf on January 21, 2013 at 2:03 PM
It’s interesting that with all the talk of pulverizing the GOP, Powell’s efforts, here, are not so much concerned with supporting Obama but with pulverizing the GOP.
I’d have to say, Powell’s criticisms have little to do with anything other than keeping the checks coming to his PO box. I wonder what percentage he negotiated for his efforts at establishing a one-party state.
Dusty on January 21, 2013 at 2:04 PM
So why in the sam hill did he vote for Obama? Twice?
Romney is further away from Reagan than Obama?
Powell has a screw lose or another agenda than honest political evaluation.
gwelf on January 21, 2013 at 2:05 PM
how exactly does voter ID “restrict” minority voting… it’s not that hard to get a photo ID card. i’m in college and have a school photo ID. but even in high school, my school gave everyone a photo ID.
but even if for some reason there is no way someone can get a photo ID elsewhere, then under a photo ID law the person should be able to get a voter ID card sent to them from their state’s elections office.
so i’m still waiting for liberals to explain how voter ID restricts minorities.
it’ll restrict
illegalswait i need a politically correct sounding word: under-documented people from voting though. which is the point.ah, good catch…

sauldalinsky on January 21, 2013 at 2:22 PM
According to research conducted on this topic on states that have had voter ID laws for several years – like Georgia – the electoral participation rate of minorities actually increased after the laws. Also, when polled a majority of black Americans support voter ID laws.
It’s astounding that requiring someone to have an ID to vote is supposed to constitute racism yet requirements to have a valid ID in order get government benefits and entitlements doesn’t constitute racism.
gwelf on January 21, 2013 at 2:23 PM
This is what happens when you promote due to race rather than actual accomplishments. Powell isn’t fit to lead a Boy Scout Troop.

How dare you! Obama represents the core conservative and Republican virtues that Reagan fought for.

Its what RINOS do.
SparkPlug on January 21, 2013 at 2:56 PM
People needed a valid photo ID to get into Obama campaign events, Obama inauguration events, and of course, the Obama white house.
But’s it’s raaaaaaacist to require photo ID for voting.
The argument that voter ID laws somehow disenfranchise minority voters has been disproven time and time again, but the Dims (and their recording devices known as the MSM and Hollywood), as well as thinly-disguised Dims like Powell, keep trotting it out.
These Dims and RINO tools aren’t interested so much in promoting and protecting voter rights as they are in preserving and expanding opportunities for voter fraud.
