Congratulations, Mr. President, from the loyal opposition
I believe the President’s policies are destructive and will harm our economy, our nation, and our sense of national self long term. …
But I do not think the President means to do this maliciously. I do not think he is treasonous. I do not hate him. I am not outraged by it. …
What I am finding is that among conservatives there is too much outrage, piss, and vinegar. It makes our ideas less effective. We have become humorless, angry opponents of the President instead of happy warriors selling better ideas. We are not even selling ideas. …
We’re off key and off message. We’ve become professional victims dialed up to 10 on the outrage meter. Who the hell wants to listen to conservatives whining and moaning all the time about the outrage du jour? Seriously? Mitt Romney ran a campaign on just how bad things are, but he was rejected by a majority of Americans who felt like he really did not care about them and really had no plans to improve their lives.

The Romeny campaign was premised on rising above the rancor. We need to get down in the gutter. We need a leader who can fight.
Ted Torgerson on January 21, 2013 at 11:04 PM
Uh, eight years of this got the Democrats a 60 seat Senate, the House Majority and Obama, sounds like a winning recipe to me.

Blah blah blah, spare us the high road cr*p, and go cry with Boehner, no wonder republicans lose.

I believe you are wrong on all counts Mr. Erickson.
Everything this President has done, he has meant to do maliciously. Like you, I do not hate him. On the other hand–if you are not outraged, you’re doing it wrong.
What I am finding is that among conservatives there isn’t enough outrage, piss, and vinegar.
We lost big. Your prescription would guarantee that in future we would lose bigger.

So what do you call running $1T+ deficits every year with absolutely no intention of reducing them? Looking out for our best interests?
crrr6 on January 21, 2013 at 11:15 PM
If Romney had won, the Democratic Party and its allies would have dedicated every waking moment of the next four years to his utter political destruction.
Now that Obama has won, it’s obvious that the primary goal of the Democrats for the next two years is the destruction of the last remnants of the Republican Party in Washington.
Romney was not “rejected by a majority of Americans who felt like he really did not care about them and really had no plans to improve their lives.” He was rejected because a majority of Americans listened to a months-long Democratic/media campaign of character assassination and outright lies.
Yeah. Congratulations.

Obama is like an incompetent doctor who is slowly poisoning your children.
He doesn’t mean to do it, intentionally, he’s just an idiot.
So, let’s all just stop being mad at the incompetent doctor poisoning our children.
He means well.

Erikson is as sickening as Obama.

He doesn’t care if people die defenseless and unarmed. And the feeling is mutual.
Ronnie on January 21, 2013 at 11:30 PM
No kidding. I don’t know when the hell our pundits and politicians are gonna learn that the left is out to achieve their goals by any means necessary. They went after Bush relentlessly for 8 years(with a very brief grace period after 9/11 for obvious political reasons). They destroyed Sarah Palin. They trashed Mitt Romney, even going so far as to accuse him of murder. They made false allegations of racism against the Tea Party and tried to blame them for the Tuscon massacre. They even spread false quotes attributed to Rush just to prevent him from buying a share of an NFL team for God’s sake.
If it hasn’t registered yet, these people are out for blood. They’re not merely content with legislative victories in Congress or winning elections. They want to destroy the opposition, permanently if possible. It’s an ideological war we’re engaged in, and we better start treating it as one.

I cannot imagine the things they would be saying as a rich white Republican unseats the first black president. The hysterical references to slavery and segregation would be off the charts. They would not be able to help themselves.
crrr6 on January 21, 2013 at 11:32 PM
You said it. Mark Levin put it best when he said we’re basically fighting a non-shooting civil war.

Ya big dummy. You are a fool.
SouthernGent on January 21, 2013 at 11:44 PM
A cold civil war of sorts. One can hope that it doesn’t go hot, but I’m increasingly viewing that end as an inevitability.

A. Rev Wright, “spread the wealth, typical white person, you didn’t build that.”
B. Fast and Furious, “stand down” Benghazi, and a few other tiny issues.
C. Oh I very much do.
D. Then you are an enabler, a coward as well as a no nutz writer with no apparent memory of the unwarranted hate received by Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush and more Bush.

Mr. Erickson has added his name to the long list of names of individuals who pretend that this is all business as usual. Nothing to see here folks, you’re all just a bunch of blustering idiots who are getting worked up over nothing. A bunch of lemmings the lot of you.
That method of thinking makes perfect sense to insane people who wake up every day only after hitting their historical reset button. These people, as crazy as they are, pretend the events of yesterday never happened. It is this kind of thinking that is going to destroy America as we know it.
Oh god! There I go again, being one of those “pimps” that stirs up hysteria.
We need to be concerned. We need to be worried, and yes it is perfectly fine to hate the President. Why? Because the President and his party is dismantling opportunity for myself, my family and my future children (should I decide to have any). Sure I’m doing ok right now (thank god) but how much BETTER could I be doing if we were not in this mess? It is the lost opportunity we should be enraged about and not just lost wages.
Mr. Erickson believes, as many in Washington do, that we just need to shut up and wait until 2016 to get our way. What he fails to understand is there is a remote possibility we won’t make it.
Today I’m a hysterical conspiracy theorist…in a few years I might be seen as a forward thinker. Amazing how only a few years can close the gap between intelligence and insanity.

The president has called conservatives the ‘enemy’…“We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us” and said…”Those aren’t the kinds of folks who represent our core American values.”
Erick Erickson may see himself as loyal to someone who looks on us as ‘The Enemy’, but that doesn’t say much good about Erickson. He is either a fool, or a coward.
As for me, I will take Obama at his word.
sharrukin on January 22, 2013 at 1:30 AM
Speak for yourself, you silly self-centered twit. I’m not loyal to Barack Obama.
VorDaj on January 22, 2013 at 2:04 AM
I must say, I have more respect for Obama than I do for Erickson. So if Erickson has a higher opinion of Obama than he does of himself, then I agree.
VorDaj on January 22, 2013 at 2:09 AM
Obama: I know my energy policies will cause prices to skyrocket, and I know that raising taxes will produce less revenue, but I’m going to do both anyway.
Yeah, right Eric…he’s not doing this intentionally at all or anything.
xblade on January 22, 2013 at 4:15 AM
You don’t understand. Many of us aren’t angry at the president for his any-means-necessary approach to accomplish everything he wants.
We’re angry at the 2010+ (R)s for not doing the same in opposition because they might get called a bad name or have a harder time in a future election.
Frankly, I hold them more responsible than him.

A man wants to cut off my arm because he thinks I’m too strong, and I’m supposed to be a ‘happy warrior’? I don’t care whether he’s motivated by malice or some misguided version of altruism, I’ll fight tooth and nail to defend myself and see no obligation to feel politely toward him in the process.
petefrt on January 22, 2013 at 7:04 AM
Considering Obama’s record, Romney ran a very positive campaign and gave us a stark choice with the most one-sided debate in history. Obama is not just incompetent but a divisive and malicious man. He is evil and Erickson is naive.

Assh*t.
vityas on January 22, 2013 at 7:54 AM
That’s because Obama and his party have become an existential threat to the future of the country. Carter was an incompetent boob and Clinton was a crooked reprobate, but no one felt they were taking the country down beyond the point of no return. The GOP has shown us they are mostly impotent silent partners in all of this, and there’s no reason to think our decay and decline will be reversed for at least the next four years, if at all.
Erickson is telling us to play by rules that no longer apply, and his sense of historical perspective is non-existent.
RadClown on January 22, 2013 at 7:59 AM
The beloved country I swore allegiance to no longer exists. It’s douchebags like Erickson that made her destruction possible.

Speak for yourself Erickson. This is not “business as usual,” another four years of enduring liberal policies, Obama will try to improve our economy, blah blah blah. Obama and co. want to destroy the Republican Party, revise the Constitution and create a nanny state. With your inane, clueless “congratulations,” it looks like Obama is achieving his plan. A liberal utopia doesn’t happen by playing nice. What a fool. Typical Beltway pundit.
conservative pilgrim on January 22, 2013 at 8:44 AM
The constitution can be revised. It’s called “the amendment process.” Obama knows he can not succeed by that very difficult method, and so here we are.
