House GOP ready to take a minority posture for the next two years
The stance is a significant shift from the party’s mantra in the immediate aftermath of the November election, when Boehner and other leaders claimed one half of a dual mandate from voters who had reelected both Obama and the House Republican majority.
It also represents a resetting of expectations for Republican lawmakers and voters alike.
Coming off what many viewed as a defeat in the fiscal cliff deal, and with Obama adopting a hardline position on fiscal matters, Republicans have diminished hopes of what they can force Democrats to accept…
“There was an element of saying, ‘Let’s be realistic about what we can accomplish, if we pass something that there’s no way in hell they’ll even talk about, what value is that?,” Rep. Rob Bishop (R-Utah) said of the conversation that took place most of the day Thursday between lawmakers and leadership.

This is why even though I vehemently disagree with them on policy, I can’t help but admire the Democrats. Even if they held only one lowly house seat that sole congressman would fight like his party controlled all three branches.

As I have written for over a year in my diary at RedState and on my own blog, it’s time to stop looking to DC and the federal GOP for solutions and time to look at reestablishing federalism and the primacy of the states and to establish a Red State fortress, a bulwark against the Left and DC.
It should be obvious even to the lowest information voter by now that we will never be able to count on the GOP in DC to advance the conservative agenda and save this country from the Leftists who are determined to fundamentally transform us into a full blown socialist state.

By the way – this is precisely the reason Democrat politicans don’t raise a stink when a hundred 4th-generation minority children die in gang violence, but if Obama keeled over from a heart attack they’d wail to the heavens. Because the former do nothing at all for them besides be photo props, while the latter has won them the nation at large two times.

I am not quoting approvingly. This document is from the ’20s and is revealing in that it shows the roots of such thinking as embodied in organizations such as Planned Parenthood and National Organization of Women.
Also the thinking behind Obama’s et. al. thinking about women vis a vis their claims of conservatives’ War on Women.
