CycloneCDB, FloatingRock and MelonCollie touched upon why I don’t expect from a businessman like Mackey what I do from GOP politicians like Boehner. Mackey has a different responsibility regarding diplomatic usage of language, which is why his walkback doesn’t concern me much.

He was technically right, Obamacare/Romneycare are fascist, but I can understand why he would back away from it, he has a company to run.

Exactly. Tens of thousands of people could be have anything happen to them from being harassed to losing friends to losing their jobs if he’s not careful. His personal feelings HAVE to take a backseat most of the time.

And I would not be surprised if got an anonymous note/call/email saying “Remember Chick-Fil-A?”

How do you believe it would have benefitted him if he had continued to use the word? Who do you think he reaches by saying it?

I am no fan of PC, but as a businessman, he realizes that not every way of expressing an opinion is equal.

No, that’s not what he said. If you read the article, he says “…in fascism the means of production are still owned by private individuals but they’re controlled by the government. And what’s happening.” He only says that there’s so much baggage associated with that word (unless the liberal media (BIRM) is talking about GWB), that he should have used another phrase.
