Experts: New NY gun laws won’t do much to slow determined killers
It takes six to eight seconds to fire off a 30-round magazine like that used in the Newtown killings, said Joseph Green, a retired firearms instructor and agent of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
A well-trained shooter would need roughly 13.5 to 22 seconds to fire off the same number of bullets with six magazines of five rounds each, which are legal in New York.
A shooter needs 1.5 seconds to swap out each cartridge, and each five-round cartridge takes one to two seconds to shoot.
Killers facing stressful situations — such as a lot of screaming people — might need a bit more time to swap cartridges, Green said.
But he and other experts say swapping magazines means just a minor delay for determined mass killers.

That’s some awfully fast trigger pulling. I sincerely doubt some lunatic is going to fire off 30 rounds in 8 seconds.

As NY State Senator Greg Ball said on the floor of the legislature:

“Five-round cartridge”?
I can’t tell if this is the stupidity of the reporter, or the stupidity of the “expert”. Not sure it matters, it’s all just stupid.

Also, the “experts” forgot to mention that larger capacity magazines will be easy to obtain illegally. Liberals always end up making money for criminals by banning everything they possible can.

Would-be killers could spend their time practicing to swap magazines, or they could just go down to a street corner and buy some illegal 30-round magazines. If you’re not planning on getting out of it alive, you don’t worry too much about maxing out your credit card on contraband.

Hey verbal flatulence, go find us a ‘study’ and some ‘facts’ that shows them wrong. Heh.

There won’t be any delay as they will just bring multiple weapons. They already do. Just like Neo in the Matrix.
The Newtown shooter had three semi-auto weapons, a rifle and 2 pistols. At 7 shots for each he would have only needed to reload one weapon once to kill the same number of people. He would not have needed to reload at all if he had brought the shotgun in instead of leaving it in the car.

Laws only affect the lawful..criminals remain unaffected..

Does Cuomo really have presidential aspirations?
Is he still shacking up with that drunk from The Food Network?
Good luck with that…..

Alternate headline: Innocent Gun-owners being punished for no damn good reason.

Hey, put a new preheated sub-relay in there while you’re swapping out cartridges, will ya?
TexasDan on January 17, 2013 at 5:30 PM
The point is to show the effect of magazine changes. The left claims that these things are bullet hoses anyway. His figure is decent for what it would take to just empty the magazine if that was really the only goal, so it’s useful in that it illustrates the effect of multiple magazine changes.
Of course, if anyone ever invents the five round cartridge I’m sure I’ll want one.

Hey but I feel better and safer. Ain’t that what it’s all about?
