Egypt: Morsi’s comments on Jews were taken out of context or something

Presidential spokesman Yasser Ali said Wednesday that Morsi told a U.S. Senate delegation that a distinction must be made between criticism of what he called the “racist” policies of the Israelis against the Palestinians and insults against the Jewish faith.

Last week video of the comments was broadcast on Egyptian television, showing Morsi in 2010 — then a leader in the Muslim Brotherhood — referring to “Zionists” as “bloodsuckers who attack Palestinians” as well as “the descendants of apes and pigs.”

The heck with playing these word games. Tell Morsi our best friends in the region are ‘descendents of apes and pigs’, and if he keeps talking like that we’ll cut off all aid; if he acts belligerently towards them we’ll arm them to the teeth; and if he attacks them we’ll sail to Egypt, help reduce his armies to dust and support Israel’s annexation of the entire Sinai.

The Zionists need to understand that he is not against them – he just thinks they have no right to exist in Israel or anywhere else really.

It’s a very subtle and nuanced position that he explains carefully.

I know how Morsi feels. Several times when I have called people “bloodsuckers” and the “decendants of pigs and apes”, they take it the wrong way.
