ROB LOWE: Look, I wouldn’t because, I mean, I, look, I like guns, and I don’t want to own an assault rifle. I wouldn’t know what to do with one, I wouldn’t know why I’d want one. I also see that if you’re a law-abiding person, and you bought it under the law, having it taken from you, I could see why people would have a problem with that. But if they don’t do that, as you point out, it’s not really a ban, is it?
MORGAN: No.
LOWE: And I’m no social anthropologist, but I do think that the last thing viewers want is another Hollywood actor telling them anything about guns pro or con.

Maybe the smartest sentence and actor has said since “…my cold dead hand.” so I’m not going to read any more and find out that he qualifies it or walks it back.

That’s some screwed up logic. If they ban future sales of AR-15′s, but don’t confiscate the ones already owned, then it’s not a ban?

Just like with “assault weapon” bans, when liberals talk you into accepting their “solution” to a problem when you know it won’t solve it, you also know they’ll be back soon to take even more. The only conclusion is that liberals aren’t in it to solve anything, they’re there to take from you whatever they can get away with. When you see liberals creating problems for the nation, liberals see themselves creating opportunities to pry more money and more rights from your hands.

There’s a great deal to be said for the idea that if you aren’t buying a gun that has crossed state lines in the course of your transaction the “federal” government can’t say a dadgum thing about it. Oh, and that pesky little Second Amendment thing, too.
(As far as the government’s ‘commerce’ power, my read of the Constitution is that the government could make it illegal to transport “assault weapons” from one state to another for purposes of trade, but it can’t ban the selling or buying or manufacture of them in any way. Yeah, yeah, I know… “How quaint. He still reads the Constitution.”)
