The big immigration push: One large bill or several smaller bills?
Democrats in both chambers are pushing for more overarching legislation, calling smaller attempts political posturing.
“Everybody wants their piece,” Lofgren said. “You talk to the ag people, you can’t do the tech thing because we need migrant farm workers. You’ve got husbands and wives separated for half a decade. What’s that do for our country? We have 2 million migrant farm workers who don’t have their papers and without them we don’t have an agricultural industry.”
Lofgren has advocated for encompassing legislation that would grant citizenship to some undocumented immigrants who came to the United States at a young age and go on to college or the military.
“I know these guys want to get something done,” she said. “The Republicans are going to lose, lose, lose if they don’t change on this issue. But it’s not the same political calculation within districts.”

How about 19 executive orders?
Doughboy on January 15, 2013 at 3:46 PM
Why does Congress vote anyway? Can’t Obama just wave an executive order form as he goes by on his unicorn and make everyone a citizen?

Wait, am I having deja vu, or didn’t they write this exact article about gun control?

Is there no one who would secure our border and enforce the law….?
Why do we have to make lettuce pickers citizens?
Can’t we just let them go home…you know…TO MEXICO…where they are from and return for a few months to provide the oh so valuable highly trained skill that apparently only people who speak Spanish can do?

I guess it all depends on what Rubio’s progressive political aspirations dictate.

As a post a couple of days ago predicted, Boehner will let the House pass small bills. They will go to the Senate where Harry will combine them, bloat it up with amendments and then ask for a conference comittee. Boehner will shove the crap sandwich from the conference committee down the House GOP throat.
Only thing I can see to stop it is a brave GOP senator refusing unanimous consent to a conference committee. (assuming Harry doesn’t change that rule). It was DeMint who stopped a CC on Obamacare, making them go through the budget reconciliation farce.
Once passed, Dems will get all the credit for Shamnesty, and sign up illegals with new drivers’ licesnes as voters. The MSM will cover for them, claiming the Dems had to drag the xenophobic GOP to the bargaining table.

How about one insanely large coin instead?

Several small bills. Each one passed after the previous one has been certified complied with.
First, 100% border fence, PERIOD. If need be it can be placed just north of the border to avoid special geographical features, those places would have to have special enforcement officers and other assets.
Second bill, 0 tolerance. If you are an alien in this nation, if you are charged with anything at all, even jay walking, you lose the right to remain in the nation.
Third bill, no anchor babies. A child must have one American parent to be considered an American citizen at birth.
Fourth bill, workforce honesty. Anyone who hires an illegal alien, even if it is just to trim a bush, shall face time in prison, with no possibility for early parole. I do not care if you are a home owner hiring a nanny or baby sitter or a large company hiring a scientist. Ignorance will not be a factor, hired, illegal, JAIL.
Fifth bill, honesty in government welfare. Any government employee who processes an illegal alien’s request for welfare shall be fired and will lose every penny they may have vested in their retirements. Those who have processed more than 10 such cases prior to being caught shall be placed in prison for a number of months equal to 6 per case.
Sixth bill, no reentry. Any alien captured in the United States of America who is illegally in the nation shall have their biometric data taken in total, from finger prints, eye scans, DNA and hair samples and then deported. If this alien is ever again found present in the nation, they shall be considered an enemy combatant and executed.
I think that covers most of it.

Lets go for one large bill.
This destruction of a nation by one minor cut every few days is getting too painful.
Just slit our carotid artery b removing the debt ceiling, giving amnesty to invaders and taking away our second amendment rights all at once.
Do it all in one day, and getting this slow miserable death over with.

The day laborers near our local Home Depot seem to like several small bills.
apostic on January 15, 2013 at 4:48 PM
The Republicans want the cheap labor, and the Democrats want to destroy the Republicans, so the answer is probably going to be a no.

I think Boehner would still have to waive the Hastert Rule to pass anything produced by a conference. And I don’t think he can get away with that again.
