Howard Kurtz wrote a very nice column on the need for the media to talk more about gun control. And by "nice," I of course mean barking-at-the-moon-nutso.

Anyway, he wrote this on Dec 17th:

Imagine if the media devoted to the gun issue a fraction of the airtime and column inches lavished on David Petraeus and Paula Broadwell and Jill Kelley.

This was after quoting Rupert Murdoch asking when politicians would find the courage to ban automatic weapons, and before questioning whether it was time to set limits on high-magazine clips.

So hear we are nearly a month later, when Petraeus and Broadwell are barely even memories, and the non-stop chatter of clueless journalists for a month about how they need to lead the country in the direction of gun control has flooded the media every single day.

And yet, I can nearly guarantee that the typical journalist could study all the above and not even be able to pick out what Kurtz said that makes no sense at all.

So if they are that clueless about the subject, why do they think any one else should listen to them?

If you google “declare crime free zones” you will get quite a few links including this one about a city in CA.
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread589290/pg1

So I guess it’s not quite urban legend.

As to the other. I could find no references and he may have been referring to finding illegal guns during a background check. In other words the background check of you would find the firearm you were purchasing was in fact illegal. I find a lot on that so I’ll consider that I didn’t quite understand his point.

That’s fine – I can easily believe that Leftist-Oppressives would say something like Requiring background checks for illegal firearm purchases.

It’s just that if you post that somewhere else people will challenge you on it. Using those kinds quotes showing leftist idiocy are a great way of turning Saul Lewinsky’s rules for tools back on them.

Ban 500 round magazines...I mean come on, who really needs those?

Apologies to MII 50 cal owners.

Ban any gun that has more then 17 barrels...I mean come on.

Ban stupid politicians from acting concerned rather then performing their sworn duties (balance a budget).

No because it was on Boston Public Radio during some sort of discussion of what could be done after the Sandy Hook incident. I thought the guy was joking but they discussed it as if it was a valid thought. The other stuff is mostly from gun buddies of mine so who knows if it's valid thoughts from actual politicians. I suspect it's mostly chatter from local anti-gun groups at the town and city levels.

My spouse thinks the BPR thing was a joke but I'm not convinced because it's a hard left and very pro BO radio channel. Sadly it's the only station my radio picks up for some reason. It's an old car and the radio has been flaky for a year or so.

Create crime free zones.

Yes, they are that stupid.

I’m on board with all of the above. In fact I really like the possibility of the crime free zones. Imagine how safe you would feel when you know it is illegal for the criminal to ply their trade in the area.

I feel that if you want to show pure idiocy of the Left, you want to be sure of your sources.

BTW, this has always been a classic in showing the idiocy of the gun grabbers an their self-defense denial (Gun-free) zones.

Let’s get some legislation in that will ban red phaser beams. I have always felt that the blue phaser beams looked better and I really hated the way red phaser beams use against Val.

Banning them will make the world safer and make Kirk look better.

No, blue are really dangerous. I see a brownish yellow spot when looking at white paper because I caught a reflection from a blue one. I wasn't wearing safety glasses but the thing was not supposed to have been powered at the time.
