CNN panel wonders: Why did Piers Morgan invite Alex Jones on?
Keli Goff of TheRoot.com disagreed and noted that if viewers examined the show as a “contest of who got to say more words” then Jones won, but if it was a contest of “who came across looking more sane,” then Morgan won. “On that regard,” she said, “I think it was effective.” Morgan himself called Jones “rambling and unhinged” after his appearance.
Robert Costa, Washington editor of The National Review, called the decision by CNN to bring Jones on “entertainment” instead of “serious” journalism. “Why give him the air time?” he asked.
Costa also disagreed with his fellow panelists that Jones was representing the conservative position. “I think a lot of gun advocates don’t have the hysteria that Jones has,” he said. His message “does not represent the conservative way of thought.”

His show is in the ratings crapper and he’s screaming “FIRE!” for attention. Gee, major conundrum isn’t it.

A 9-11 truther who believes Bush and Cheney blew up the WTC and that the government, the global bankers and CIA are trying to kill us with chemtrails comes off as rambling and unhinged?
Can’t imagine how that’s possible.

Ratings (that thing of which Mr. Morgan is in constant, dire need–sheesh! They axed Larry King for this?

Jones and Morgan both are from the tabloid side of Journalism. Morgan brought Jones on to have a sparing partner that would make him look competent. I’m not sure he succeeded even with that setup.

Er… is this even up for debate? Morgan invited Jones on because it would simultaneously give him a ratings boost while enabling him to portray gun rights supports as absolute nutjobs. End of discussion.

Larry King weeps.

After that discussion they should have had another one about why a “news” show on a dying network thinks its “news”worthy to discuss another “news” show on the same dying network and try to somehow pass it off as news.

Yes, it’s not really hard to understand, is it? But they had to act like it was actually something worth discussing just in case their low information viewers couldn’t manage an uptake.

Because Alex Jones has a bigger audience than Piers Morgan.
Simple, really…
