Piers Morgan: What good are guns if the government can just nuke you?
What sort of paranoid right-wing nutball actually thinks an American president would order a nuclear strike against his own countrymen? That’d be Piers.

I don’t understand why 2 guys have to get married.
I don’t understand why there are women out there who need to kill their unborn babies.
I don’t understand why people need to drive cars when they could walk or ride their bikes.
I don’t understand why people need to make more money than 200,000 per year.
Chaos comes out of not ‘understanding’ a lot of things.

*sigh*
He must love stepping in it, he’s doing it so often.
What a foolish, silly, petty
manindividual. At least he is starting to talk about what the 2nd Amendment recognizes..the Right of the citizenry to remove its government, by force if necessary as a last resort.
Any government that fears arms in the hands of its citizens has grown way too large for its britches.
Any journalist who defends a government, no matter how silly the defense, is a propagandist, not a journalist.
He obviously never read the Anarchist’s Cookbook and saw how easy it is to make all sorts of things out of stuff in the cleaning closet and garage.
Not to mention the most obvious…nuke someplace and well..the government can’t collect taxes there anymore.

Is Piers ever going to come to America? He seems never to leave New York City. He’s a sort of Hunger Games imbed.
claudius on January 14, 2013 at 8:29 AM
Is this Piers fellow making the argument that citizens should be allowed to keep and bear nuclear arms?
dczombie on January 14, 2013 at 8:59 AM
What good is a brain if you come up with thoughts like that?

Piers Morgan, once again, demonstrates his ignorance of what the nature of power really is.
Nuclear bombs are not the true measure of power. Jet aircraft, tanks, naval vessels, drones… none of these are marks of true power.
True power consists of men (or women), with boots on the ground, with guns in their hands, with the authority and organization of the state behind them, telling people what they may and may not do.
That is power. And the most effective check on abuse of that power is a populace capable of blowing some of those people away…

Yes, since that’s how the US solves problems. We just nuke them out of existence. Look at Afghanistan! That place must be a nuclear wasteland! … Wait … What do you mean it’s always looked like that. You mean America didn’t just nuke it?
If the US government isn’t going to nuke a place like Afghanistan, I can’t imagine the government dropping the bomb on its own cities.
Further, as part of the symbiosis between the First and Second Amendments, the reason for the use of paramilitary-grade firearms by the citizenry is that, should the government attempt some kind of takeover/excessive action, they would be forced to use high-powered weaponry. It would be a flagrant case of government overreach…and the press would excoriate them for it! At least in a reasonably decent world that’s how it would work.

Clearly someone needs to send Piers and his like minded brethren a vid of Blackhawk Down.

Pier’s entire audience must have had a rally or something.
Hey, Piers! I’m a native New Yorker and trust me, their opinions don’t come close to reflecting the country at large. Buy yourself a map, moron. Those bridges and tunnels across the Hudson River actually go somewhere.
RadClown on January 14, 2013 at 9:28 AM
No. They wouldn’t.

PM succeeds again in raising the profile of his failing network and his own personal profile as a digraceful faux journalist.
All thanks to right wing blogs, mags, and tv.
Nice one.
CorporatePiggy on January 14, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Would lever action be okay with you Piers?
Bmore on January 14, 2013 at 9:33 AM
The 2nd Amendment wasn’t written to protect the rights of hunters, nor was it written to allow me to kill in defense of my family, though both are allowable under it.
The 2nd Amendment was written to enshrine the natural (God-given) right of the people to – if necessary – violently overthrow a tyrannical government.
I can’t imagine why the Democrats would want to remove the ability of the people to oppose tyranny.
Washington Nearsider on January 14, 2013 at 9:38 AM
Come on now, when has that child-like obtuseness / willful idiocy ever, ever stopped a libtard from attempting “meaningful” action?
roy_batty on January 14, 2013 at 10:14 AM
When one is now the tyrant they once opposed, it is quite easy to understand.
roy_batty on January 14, 2013 at 10:16 AM
No, it is nothing more than “any ink is good ink” style promotion.
He has nothing to lose, statements like this attract attention.
roy_batty on January 14, 2013 at 10:19 AM
That’s gold right there, and I’m gonna use it.
