“I am the father of the destruction of western civilization”
Springer said that his show had “no redeeming social value” and called it “stupid.” When pressed, he said that while his show is “fun to do,” it really is “stupid.”

No argument here.

No, but you are emblematic.

Grandiosity is one of the checkmarks on the Hare Psychopathy test.

Everyone enjoys seeing the freak show at the circus.
While watching the show most people think “Thank goodness my life is not trash like that.”
albill on January 13, 2013 at 9:21 AM
Most of us are at work when his show is on. Actually, I don’t know that for a fact, because I’m just guessing at when his show is on, but I’d still say he enjoys a much larger audience among the unemployed then he does among the employed.
Timin203 on January 13, 2013 at 9:25 AM
Nah…
The people that watch that show say things like “Damn, why didn’t I think of that?”
turfmann on January 13, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Congratulations…?

More like the irritating drip of Western Civ.

It is possible that people like Springer are genuinely ignorant because they’re insulated by their wealth from the horror that their pet ideologies impose on the rest of humanity whenever they’re given the absolute power they crave. That’s the best case scenario for them. The worst case (which I’ve recently began to believe more and more) is that many of our leftist celebrities are not as stupid and misinformed as we want to believe they are. I am ever more convinced that they DO know the inevitable evils of statism but they seek to have it established anyway. That makes them far worse than mere useful idiots. It makes them informed hypocrites and among the most evil people in history.
But as the old saying goes, “There’s no pockets on the shroud.” They’ll learn their error, someday. Too late to save them, true, but they’ll learn. And I for one look forward to it.

Jerry Springer-former Mayor of Cincinnati who demolished his political future by paying a prostitute with a check. This was at a time when things like this “mattered”. If he’d done this 20 years later he’d probably be a Senator. (I only know about this because I live “in the area”. Didn’t want anyone to think I “follow” his career:)

I thought this was going to be about Obama.

For once I agree with Springer.
ButterflyDragon on January 13, 2013 at 10:27 AM
Boy! That’s something to really be proud of, on your way to the bank. Of course, he is a dhimpcrapt.
Old Country Boy on January 13, 2013 at 10:28 AM
Ummm.. because it’s actually written into the Constitution that national defense is mandated. Health care, no mention at all in there.
ButterflyDragon on January 13, 2013 at 10:35 AM
It didn’t “matter” too much. He only became mayor after that scandal, not before. But when he failed in his run for governor, he thought broadcasting might be a good move. Shows on serious matters failed to get ratings, so he added some sensationalism and became the hit he is today. He probably respects his audience and his job even less than you do, but if he’s crying about it, he’s crying all the way to the bank.

Oprah was his lover then. Paris Hilton his offspring.

I didn’t know Springer was gay…
JetBoy on January 13, 2013 at 10:48 AM
Meh. Springer flatters himself. We’ll have to get a paternity test to determine if the real father was FDR, LBJ, or Stalin.
Count to 10 on January 13, 2013 at 10:55 AM
i knew my life was going to hell in a Bedazzled handbasket when 2 people i knew quite well (one of whom i had dated) showed up on “jerry springer” on separate shows…
mittens on January 13, 2013 at 11:02 AM
This is only a symptom. But then you had to go there.
I respect you JetBoy. But stop making it about this $hit all the time.
Society goes to hell not bcs there are gay people or other aberrant lifestyles out there being practiced.
IT’s when all that aberration becomes plastered all over the damned place & is constantly being forced upon us.
Of course, with Springer, or Wilkos or Povich etc, one can turn off the TV.
