Gun sales keep skyrocketing as Congress mulls new regulations
People were crowded five deep at the tiny counter of a gun shop near Atlanta, where a pastor from Knoxville, Tenn., was among the customers who showed up in person after the store’s Web site halted sales because of low inventory. Emptying gun cases and bare shelves gave a picked-over feel to gun stores in many states. High-capacity magazines, which some state and federal officials want to ban or restrict, were selling briskly across the country: one Iowa dealer said that 30-round magazines were fetching five times what they sold for just weeks ago.
Gun dealers and buyers alike said that the rapid growth in gun sales — which began climbing significantly after President Obama’s re-election and soared after the Dec. 14 shooting at a school in Newtown, Conn., prompted him to call for new gun laws — shows little sign of abating…
“If I had 1,000 AR-15s I could sell them in a week,” said Jack Smith, an independent gun dealer in Des Moines, referring to the popular style of semiautomatic rifle that drew national attention after Adam Lanza used one to kill 20 children and 6 adults at a Newtown school. “When I close, they beat on the glass to be let in,” Mr. Smith said of his customers. “They’ll wave money at me.”
Mr. Smith said many people were stocking up on high-capacity magazines in anticipation that they might be banned. Two weeks ago, he said, a 30-round rifle magazine was $12, but it now fetches $60. Popular online retailers were out of many 20- and 30-round rifle magazines.

May every law abiding citizen come to realize the importance of guns as it relates to our Constitution. This might increase sales even more than 0.

The largest gun store in our area was very busy last night. What a sight.

Maybe obozo should starting talking about making work illegal. That should help cure unemployment.

Yeah,
It is getting next to impossible to get in and out of any gun store these days!
Just going in for a few hundred rounds of ammo takes forever! I’d hate to actually be buying a firearm on a weekend.
The government that fears it citizens being armed is a government that has grown too large.

Up until a few years ago I never owned a firearm. I started with a shotgun. I was happy with that.
But last year I began buying others, making sure I have a few different handguns, AR, and a couple of different shotguns. Recently began stocking ammo, figuring they are likely to try to make that illegal.
They forced an average citizen who didn’t think about guns much to be an avid supporter who will now be far more stocked than he would have been otherwise. But when have libs ever thought things through?

I really hope this craze will pass when Congress refuses to waste time on symbolic legislation like another worthless ASB.
That way I can purchase the DPMS in 7.62 I have been saving up to purchase.

This is actually a great thing.

Imagine the person-to-person sales that will occur if they decide to force federal checks on any/all transactions. People won’t be doing it for anything nefarious, but just to avoid the coming hassles and fees/taxes (you know there will be a cost).
All of those ARs, AKs, and various lowers out there are going to be good investments a few weeks before the applicable date.
Thank you President Obama indeed.

This is wonderful news! People who would have never thought of having any gun in their home, now if they want to see to it their 2nd isn’t gone, have gone gun hunting? I would think even some libs, who say they hate guns, are out buying them?

Presindent Obama, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Do I feel lucky?” Well do ya, punk?

This week while exercising my 2nd Amendment rights, I told a friend it was like shopping in a Russian grocery store… the shelves were bare.

Not an AR15 to be found.

Been to a few stores in WY and MT and all the AR style guns are basically gone unless you want it chambered in .22 LR.
When I was in MT over Christmas I picked up 9mm for .22 cents a round and 5.56mm for .40 cents a round. Last summer I was getting it on sale at the same place for .18 and .25 cents, respectfully.
My dad was a bit bent yesterday when he went to buy reloading supplies. Not much left and prices were up. I tried to tell him to get it early and he blew me off, claiming stocks will come back up. Now he’s worried about taxes on the stuff going through the roof.
