Republicans to huddle on how better to attract Latinos
A team of prominent national Republicans, including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, plans to gather in Miami Friday to begin mapping out GOP outreach to Hispanics for the 2014 cycle, according to sources familiar with the effort.
The meeting is being organized by the Hispanic Leadership Network, the conservative outside group focused on broadening the GOP’s appeal among Hispanic Americans.
Bush, who has been involved with HLN for several years, is expected to attend, along with former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez and Fred Malek, chairman of the board of the American Action Forum and finance chairman of the Republican Governors Association. …
One strategist involved in the session called it a preliminary “gathering of the minds” focused on “the importance of Hispanics, looking forward to 2014 and beyond.”

If they are even considering this meme, then the GOP really is finished.

Eh. If anyone is too prejudiced to join the GOP, then the GOP is better off without them.

Rubio-style amnesty?

Why are the republicans worried about attracting socialist loving south americans? (many of whom cant / should be able to vote since they are here illegally)
Why not expand the tent and try to attract libertarians with more pro-liberty policies and fewer big government policies?
Timin203 on January 11, 2013 at 1:16 PM
I don’t even have a problem with amnesty — I believe in capitalism and the free flow of labor. One caveat — no more welfare, and they must pay back taxes and income tax going forward.
That’d staunch the flow of illegals in a nanosecond… because the “jobs that americans wont do” don’t exist, and our problem right now is hardly a lack of available labor.
Timin203 on January 11, 2013 at 1:18 PM
In other words, plotting how to get an amnesty rammed through.

They need to push the self-deportion idea more.

How about “reduce Latinos”? I.e., immigration moratorium, Operate Wetback II, etc.? Oh right. That’s “racisss!”, as “La Raza” would say.

Together the two party evil money cult of Democrats and Republicans have attracted 20 million illegal wage slaves into the U.S.A. and the evil greed runs unabated still.
Only truth will help U.S. all, slaves are still just that be they wage slaves or vote slaves.
The evil we allow will come to judge U.S. all.

This problem is not a uniquely republican problem… it’s a problem facing every conservative party in every western democracy.
There is absolutely nothing the GOP can ever do to win a majority of Hispanic… period. Anyone who disagrees with this is delusional.

You are an idiot…. the free flow of labor means selling out your country.
Libertarians who support free migration believe they own your schools, your communities, and your government and want to sell it out to foreigners.

Piñatas, mariachi bands, and tamales. Duh.

Latinos will never, ever close the achievement gap with whites. They will always need affirmative action in order to compete. Some may find these statements insulting but they’re also truthful.
ninjapirate on January 11, 2013 at 2:12 PM
So they are scheming to outleft the left.
Amnesty and welfare is what works.
The last election proved it.

Until the Republicans, in general, cease to be moral cowards — they won’t attract much of anyone new.
They must have the moral courage to demonstrate — in spite of the Marxist LSM and Dem opposition — and, more importantly, unapologetically and with non-stop vigilance make the persuasive argument for those ideas espoused by the Founders, some of which include:
. Individual Sovereignty and Justice; which requires
. Protections against the Tyranny of the Majority; which requires
. Very Small Government; which requires
. Capitalism; which requires
. Individual Talent and Virtue; which requires
. Wisdom (part of which is proper education) and proper Morality; which requires
. Fidelity to The Consitution; which requires
. Individual Citizens (especially Politicians) of Honor and Rationality …

Democrats want free migration so they can own the schools, communities, and the government…. libertarians and myopic capitalists want to sell your schools, communities, and government to make a buck.
The Democrats will win in the end by stealing the money of the libertarians and the myopic capitalists.

I was thinking candy. Everyone, well most everyone likes candy.
No, I know. Lets make a promise to all the ones that worked hard to be honest citizens and come here legally that we will make all of the criminals that came here illegally citizens. Yeah that will work.

The GOP needs to package core conservative principles better, not start down the road of hispandering.
Amnesty will destroy the GOP, and the country.

Analyze why they voted for Obama and counter it. Not that I think you can. They voted for Obama because they are racists.
We have a serious racism problem in this country and it’s time we recognize where it really is.

Conservatives should huddle on whether the GOP serves a useful purpose, and what the pros and cons would be of just letting it die.
Seth Halpern on January 11, 2013 at 2:37 PM
I want to attract Americans…period. If we have to pander to every ethnic group then the war is already lost. I swear if I hear Latino one more time I am going to puke. They are no more special and worthy of attention then every other American.

The same thing was said about Irish and German Catholic immigrants in the mid 1800s, Chinese in the late 1800s, Italians in the early 1900s,followed by Eastern European and Russians, and so on. Immigrants of all types assimiliate after a couple of generations. New Latino immigrants will too.
