So, everyone excited for that big Joe Biden/NRA meeting today?
Behind the scenes, the kind of negotiations that lead to big deals that can get through Congress, like the wheeling and dealing that made Biden a kingmaker on the fiscal cliff, haven’t even begun on gun control.
Just getting the parties to the table was a challenge. The NRA was not invited to a meeting with Biden until Friday, after the vice president already began meeting with other groups. Wal-Mart originally said it couldn’t make it.
And Biden’s meeting with the NRA might get awkward since Richard Feldman, a former gun lobbyist who wrote an NRA tell-all, will also be there.
All of this has left even staunch supporters of gun reform laws pessimistic that a big deal will head through Congress, even after the mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., last month that left 20 children dead.
“I hope a tragedy like this one will get more and more people who’ve kowtowed to the gun lobby to rethink that, but it’s hard to be very optimistic,” said former Rep. Mike Barnes (D-Md.), who duked it out with the NRA as head of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence in the early 2000s. “It’s very hard to see anything meaningful passing in this House of Representatives.”

Will he treat them like he did Paul Ryan?

Biden: “This will be a BFD.”
Guy at a gun shop: “And this will be my BFG.”

How is omitting to invite the biggest player in the game a “challenge”?
The agenda is already set, the bills written, the EO’s planned, all of these meetings with the Vice Groper are just window dressing for the morons.

“Vice Groper” heh!

Anytime a politician and their catamite media says “Something must be done” they should immediately be put in the stocks for 180 days and pelted with assorted vegetables from Mooch’s garden.

No republican has said anything in defense of the 2nd Amendment, either.
BobMbx on January 10, 2013 at 12:22 PM
Show for the cameras. Nothing else. Biden will probably be listening to his iPod the whole time.

How about a budget first…it’s only been about 1,300 days since the last one…

Incorrect.

The NRA should blow Biden away. There! I SAID IT!

My! My! Look who is included on the BIG GOVERNMENT “gun control” task force.

The stench of hypocrisy cloaking this power grab and undermining of the Second Amendment guarantees is appalling.

All a distraction to keep the economy out of the news and the far left base firmly under wing.

I just upgraded to a lifetime membership.
I doubt they can get anything through the house, but Zero’s ability to muck things up through regulation is a real threat to our ability to purchase firearms, ammunition, reloading components, and accessories.

Yeah? Well I’d like to see a concrete budget proposal from the Senate today. And one from the fool at the nation’s helm. But wish in one hand and something in the other and all that stuff…

That is something everyone should consider. Just remember that there are also other organizations you can support. They’ve banded together to fight this tyranny:
Also remember to celebrate gun appreciation day 1/19/2013:

Dang, beat me to it. I’m having trouble getting the buttons at the bottom of the page to be visible. The Hot Air logo link is sitting on top the bottom comments and the post box.

I have that problem too in the Headline threads. I emailed them about it weeks ago, but it did no good.

I have the same problem & have written to Hot Air…no response.
I think with pre-election Hot Air’s experiment with Facebook commenting (what a bad joke), they broke the thing and do not know how to fix it.

Not to pick you you, Rebar, but that’s not a provision protecting the right to keep and bear arms, as Brietbart asserts. It’s a provision stating the Secretary of HHS has no authority to promulgate regulations requiring doctors to collect patient info on guns or to create a registry of that info.
It’s nice to see that the federal government might foresee the inefficiency of each and every department collecting the information or keeping a registry and it’s good to see that Reid might have been concerned that not having it might scotch passage of Obamacare, or that Executive branch might attempt to implement the collection and registration before the timing is ripe, but it doesn’t protect the right.
Heck, this provision doesn’t even protect the right of the people to accuse the Dems or Reid of hypocrisy.

How about a “Save Our Mexican Neighbors and Disarm Mexican Drug Cartels Act”. Impeach and Convict Obama of Murder. Impeach and Convict Holder of Murder. G-damn those two for violating our gun laws.

The thing with the NRA is that they’re awfully susceptible to proposals that contain the phrase “…by an NRA-certified instructor.” Let’s not assume they’re more on our side than their own.
