Pastor withdraws from Obama inaugural over comments about gays
Giglio, who is now Pastor at Passion City Church in Georgia and his role at Obama’s second inauguration was first announced Tuesday. But the liberal website Thinkprogress reported Wednesday on audio of Giglioi delivering a sermon in the mid-1990s in which he said homosexuality is a sin and advocated gay “recovery.”

Wow! How is this guy not in jail already for saying this? /sarc off
So this is what we are looking at? The gays were “forced” into the closet for years so now that they are out anyone that doesn’t yell Hooray! must go into the closet?

Reminder to Think Progress: you lord and savior Barry Obama thought Homosexuality was a sin until 2012.

But no problem having a dude there who says “when white makes right”.

The Pastor nailed it.

Look at England – that’s exactly what they want.
tommyboy on January 10, 2013 at 11:58 AM
And he wasn’t for gay marriage til it was politically expedient.

hmm, I see that socons are still working hard to scare away a few more voters with bigotry… good job!
nathor on January 10, 2013 at 12:07 PM
Wait…he accurately predicted this, and now he’s withdrawing because of criticism from those doing–what he said they were going to do?
TexasDan on January 10, 2013 at 12:08 PM
Maybe John Shelby Spong is available.

Let’s list this guy’s crimes according to Thinkprogress:
Notice the twisting to “equality”? The Pope also says this. When did advocating for what you think public policy should be become a crime?
No, homosexual acts are. Why even note this? It’s extremely clear they are a sin.
This doesn’t even make sense. There’s no real evidence people are born gay. I doubt this Pastor would suggest addicts, alcoholics and over eaters are born that way either.
No, unrepentant sinners are likely too though.
Well, since there are gay people who become straight and vice versa I’ve never understood why this is seen as controversial.
Basically, Thinkprogess’ position is Mainstream Christianity disqualifies you from public interaction.

And, we all see that you’re still an idiot. Carry on.
kingsjester on January 10, 2013 at 12:09 PM
Since the President himself burst out of the closet this stands to reason.
CorporatePiggy on January 10, 2013 at 12:10 PM
This is CYA for Obama. He was kicked off by the Administration after the backlash.

That’s the default liberal position too.
And the crux of this whole thing and where “gay marriage” will land us.

Having something inside, that you’re afraid to share or tell people, for fear of being put down, marginalized, ridiculed, and yet it feels right, and good. Then you do come out, respectfully, thoughtfully, with care and concern, with what’s in your heart, and you say it with love, and all the sudden you’re disinvited from speaking at Obama’s inaugural.

Just a Giglio
everywhere I go
people know the part
I’m playing
Paid for every dance
selling each romance
every night some heart
betraying
Now has come a day
where what I said of gays
will cause quite a stir
about me
The end has come I know
they’ll say just a Giglio
as life goes on
without me
I’m just a nobody…

Just as we see that the socialist progressives still hate Christians and Christianity.
tommyboy on January 10, 2013 at 12:21 PM
Sounds like this Pastor was chosen on purpose.
moonsbreath on January 10, 2013 at 12:30 PM
Actually, he preached this sermon in the mid-1990s. It was Think Progress that dug it up in order to scare voters, as well as squelch free thought and speech. Giglio’s benediction wouldn’t have had anything to do with homosexuality or gay rights, and yet he’s figuratively tarred and feathered for saying something almost twenty years ago that most people agreed with at the time. Sounds Stalinist to me.
Oh, and you’re a jackass. BOO!

Evil is often not seen for what it is at the time. One of our evils today is falsely accusing others of bigotry, racism, or hatred. Race-baiting and gay-baiting. Like what nathor is doing.
nathor is the Bull Connor of our time. He doesn’t like homophobes.
Paul-Cincy on January 10, 2013 at 12:54 PM
Unfortunately, what’s happening is that, one by one, various Christian denominations are moving in the direction of bowing to society’s changing “values” instead of standing firm. That’s one of the reasons why the Catholic Church draws such vitriolic hatred — it won’t change it’s views on the subject.
A pastor calling homosexuality a sin is now controversial. Sad. (Though, as was pointed out above, it’s technically homosexual acts that are sinful.)

No problem. I heard Jeremiah Wright is available…

Withdraw? Sounds more like his invitation was rescinded.

They had to back that far?
He ought to say the truth about such perversion more often.

Don’t forget token black minority dem #4 leader in the House was offended by gays comparing their struggle to blacks and the civil rights only a few years ago on DOMA. Why is he still #4?
AH_C on January 10, 2013 at 1:23 PM
#4 would be James Clyburn.
AH_C on January 10, 2013 at 1:24 PM
There should be a statue of limitations on people’s past statements. People frequently change their mind on a topic or at least change their minds about what they want to say on a topic. If he’s not talked about gay issues in over 15 years, I just can’t see a valid objection to this pastor. Some gay groups don’t allow room for redemption from bad ideas held in the past. Instead, they should be embracing the subtle shifts.
thuja on January 10, 2013 at 1:34 PM
Rick Warren has taken the exact same position with regard to homosexuality and it didn’t prevent him from appearing at Barkys first inauguration.
tommyboy on January 10, 2013 at 1:47 PM
Thoughtcrime!
ddrintn on January 10, 2013 at 1:51 PM
I think he was pressured to step down..His statement is 100% true and i know he’s not ashamed of it nor should he be..He founded the passion conference that this year had 60,000 people at the georgia down worshiping God..Chris Tomlin and other great worship leaders were there…very powerful…he’s a great, godly man and now is being persecuted for speaking the truth.
