Pelosi: There wasn’t enough revenue in the fiscal-cliff deal
“The President had originally said he wanted $1.6 trillion in revenue,” she said on “Face the Nation.” “He took it down to 1.2 as a compromise in this legislation. We get $620 billion dollars, very significant, high-end tax, changing the high-end tax rate to 39.6 percent, but that is not enough on the revenue side.”
Pelosi declined to go into particulars, saying she was “fairly agnostic” about how to secure more revenue, but implied that closing loopholes and deductions was more likely than revisiting tax rates.
“Put it all on the table and see what is working,” she said, identifying the carried interest loophole and oil subsidies as two examples of dubious tax expenditures that may be targeted.
Asked if Democrats are ready to significantly reform entitlement programs to address the deficit, Pelosi said, “We already have,” pointing to the Affordable Care Act’s $716 billion in Medicare provider cuts.

Start by repealing all the tax breaks for Dem crony capitalists, like the Hollywood crowd that the White House insisted be inserted into the fiscal cliff bill.
Max Buacus wrote a cornyism bill this summer that would never have made it through Congress. So they just inserted the text into the fiscal cliff bill.

There will never be enough revenue to satisfy the swamp-fever dreams of the DC crowd. Especially the current Democrat leadership.
Why is arithmetic so hard for some?

Time to start forcing these people to speak English.
Liberals are not “Liberal”, they are “Socialists”.
Revenue is not “Revenue” it is “Tax”.
They’ve re-written common words on the fly, and conservatives seem fine about it.
The tax-take comes from taxes. It is not revenue. That sounds like a nice word, as if you are selling a product.
Governments raise money through taxation – they are not providing a service or product you can opt in or out of consuming. Businesses have revenues by providing a service or product – the government takes it’s income in the form of non-negotiable taxes. The penalty for non-payment is punitive fines and or incarceration.
Pelosi – “We do not tax you enough”.
Done.

There weren’t ANY cuts. In fact, spending INCREASED.
Spending cuts are up NEXT, Maerose. Your ox gets gored.

Looks like Granny McBotox and the rest of her criminal posse of corrupt democrats are ever so slowly figuring out that tax increases are now off the table. The country has moved on to the other half of Zero’s “balanced approach.” Oops!

Raise taxes on the rich, they said. All we want is to go back to Clinton era rates, they said.
It’s almost like they…lied.

Don’t worry Nancy it’s on the way, but you have to remember that you can’t boil that frog too quickly.

Which they have already undone with the “Doc fix” again. Bambi and the dems counted that savings at least twice in Obamacare.
Lying liars telling lies.

She’s right, of course.
There isn’t enough revenue on the planet, either.
HitNRun on January 6, 2013 at 3:59 PM
There wasn’t enough revenue in my last paycheck. So stuff it.

Anyone who uses “revenue” instead of “taxes”, may your heads spontaneously split into a million smithereens.

Let’s see, if the Dems already reformed entitlements and already raised taxes, we should have a tiny-to-non-existent deficit this year, right? Will the average voter be surprised at all when we hit a $1 trillion deficit again this year?
toby11 on January 6, 2013 at 4:06 PM
Quite so.
And some people are beginning to realize it is personal.
They’re not just going after the Millionaires and Billionaires.
77% of working people got hit with the sunset of the payroll tax cut.
Socialists always promise to sock it to the rich…
CorporatePiggy on January 6, 2013 at 4:15 PM
Fine Nancy…
We can raise Taxes and Revenues! End all tax breaks to the “green” industries and all other liberal dominated industires. Create special taxes on the entertainment industry and on lawyers. Legalize Marijuana and place a big tax on it. Also pick out industries important to blue states and jack up their taxes.
I was never a big fan of the GOP and conservatives handcuffing themselves on the no new tax argument. I always felt the tax weapon is an offensive weapon and you have to use it to hurt the progressives, just like they are using to hurt the us.
If Obama wants a deal he will have to make cuts, and if wants more revenue and taxes ok…it is time for all to sacrifice…Hollywood, Green Folks, and Lawyers. The typical job creators have already been taxed enough.

Don’t forget “tax expenditures”.
Charlemagne on January 6, 2013 at 4:46 PM
Let’s start by eliminating the Samoan tuna tax break and the wind and otherwise-alternative energy sources subsidies, Nancy.
Oh, and now you are admitting the cut that Medicare funding took to push through O-care?
Blatheringly bold hypocrite!

It will never be enough for these people. They won’t stop until we are all out in the rice fields . . . together, and they will finally achieve income equality.
TarheelBen on January 6, 2013 at 4:53 PM
She and her fellow corruptocrats have probably gotten an earful over the increase in their payroll taxes, the shell game that Obysmal played on them.
Look out, look out, look out: Nancy is promising that more reven-oo-ers are on the way!!!!

How about adding to that list any combination of “asking” + rich + “fair share?”
Drained Brain on January 6, 2013 at 5:00 PM
I think we need to stop using the term “the rich” as well. It’s a label the Dems slapped on the wealthy and then demonized to no end.
