Christie’s “straight talk” is starting to grate

“He doesn’t give a s—- what people think,” said one source close to the Republican governor, referring to the reactions both inside and outside of Washington to Christie’s “shame on you” press conference. He is focused on how people perform in their jobs, the source said, and Congress was holding aid hostage over a parliamentary battle…
“I don’t think he’s really occupying any space within the Republican Party right now, especially after railing against Republican leaders in Congress,” Robinson added. “Gov. Christie is doing a great job of being apolitical, which will help him win reelection in New Jersey, but being apolitical gets one nowhere nationally.”…
“Personally I think he went a little overboard,” said Steve Duprey, a former New Hampshire GOP chairman and onetime John McCain presidential adviser, of Christie’s rant, who also said it reminded him of the Arizona senator’s approach in his 2000 presidential campaign that collapsed on the shoals of the GOP primary system after New Hampshire and he understood him doing right by his state.
“I understand that every hour counts, but there were other sort of big, important issues like the fiscal cliff to deal with. I don’t blame Gov. Christie for being frustrated [and vocalizing it] … but I think he was overblown in his criticism of the speaker given what else was going on.”

With all the information that came out after Christie’s rant about the added pork in the Sandy relief bill for things like Alaskan fisheries, the governor’s tantrum (along with that of Rep. Peter King) come across as either someone who doesn’t stop and take the time to look at the issue before he runs is mouth off, or someone who doesn’t care if the federal government spends money like a drunken sailor, as long as some of the money falls in their state.
Either action marginalizes Christie into his home region — it may be good politics for 2013′s gubernatorial campaign, but if he has any plans for higher national office other than being someone’s VP pick in 2016, seemingly not giving a damn about making sure the Sandy relief funds bill only contains Sandy relief funds isn’t a way to convince Republican primary voters you care all that much about cutting the deficit and limiting spending at the national level.

What’s grating is that he took what worked for him against the NJ teacher’s union — tough talk — and now applies to everything that makes him upset. He is, essentially, a whiner.

He’ll pull it out, just like Lincoln Chafee did in 2006, only to go on and lose to a slightly more liberal Democrat in the general. Then he’ll leave the party.
Christie is Jim Jeffords, Lincoln Chafee, Mike Bloomberg, and Charlie Crist all rolled into one.

Krispy Kreme will easily win reelection in New Jersey. I’m talking 2016. Yes I know that Romney and McCain won, but the fields in 2008 and 2012 were weak. Not so in 2016.. There are at least 15 to 20 candidates better than this blowhard.

Christie is probably smart enough not to even attempt a presidential run in 2016. He has to know he would have little support within the party. I think he’s hunkering down in Jersey long term. He’ll probably run for governor again in 2017 or try jumping to the Senate if Menendez leaves before 2018 or Lautenberg’s replacement is an easy target in 2020.

Who is kidding who, Christie is a closet Democrat.
Before he runs for a Congressional or Presidential seat he will announce he is a Democrat…while lambasting away at the Republicans.
