White House looking to overwhelm the NRA with gun-control blitz
While the fiscal cliff has dominated Washington’s attention in recent weeks, lawmakers and activists are laying the groundwork for their big push. Vice President Joe Biden, tasked with heading a commission to investigate gun violence, has been quietly meeting with experts, interest groups, and public officials and is expected to release a set of recommendations within weeks. Boston mayor Thomas Menino, co-chair of Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns, told the Boston Herald this week that an optimistic Biden had assured him that Obama would sign legislation “by the end of January.”
“We had been led to believe their report would come by end of January, but we’re hearing they may want to have something out by January 15, even quicker than expected,” Mark Glaze, director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, told TPM.
House Democrats are moving ahead with their own plans as well. On Friday, Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), chair of the newly created Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, announced the appointment of 12 vice chairs, including Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), the body’s leading voice on gun control. According to a Democratic aide, the group plans to release its recommendations in early February and is already organizing public hearings on the issue.

good, waste ammo on bills that won’t pass.

by the way, its amusing they think the NRA is the enemy of the week when its the 10′s of millions of gun owners who are their true obstacle.
rob verdi on January 5, 2013 at 8:02 AM
Bills?? Since when does the JEKF worry about bills??
BigWyo on January 5, 2013 at 8:06 AM
I remember a lot of the liberals who comment here who said we were conspiracy theorists for being worried about Obama taking our guns.
Time to stand up America.
Or lay down.

Looks like being a very interesting year.

Given the number of firearms purchased last year…I don’t think those people want to suddenly find themselves disarmed.
Disarming Americans is one step closer to Amerika.
Especially when logic shows (as if logic has any sway anymore) that it isn’t the gun that’s the problem. It is the Gun Free Zone, politicians and other liberals that are the problem.

Hard to sign a bill that would never pass the House.
Guess he’ll have “deemed” it to have passed, without that messy bother of actually submitting it for a vote.
Rebar on January 5, 2013 at 8:26 AM
Exactly. I wish I could find the link, I think it was on Drudge, where Napolitano said that extensive firearm control would be enacted by this spring and that they would like Congress to do it but that BO was ready with an EO and that DHS and TSA was ready to back him.
Dr. Frank Enstine on January 5, 2013 at 8:28 AM
May they all choke on their own stupid hubris. There will be no gun legislation out of this congress because enough elected officials know they will be signing their own death warrants supporting such legislation.
NotCoach on January 5, 2013 at 8:34 AM
Get ready for war. This is just the beginning. When are you people going to realize the republic is over. We now live in an empire run by an emperor backup by a submissive press. We might was well push for the state legislators to call for a constitutional convention. This will be a disaster but it will also completely leave out the federal government. The Feds will make a move and we can officially disbanded the union, and hopefully establish states and region that actually respect individual liberty.
MoreLiberty on January 5, 2013 at 8:34 AM
LOL. Imagine that: the Obama administration is ready to support Obama’s unconstitutional power grab! Shocker. Almost as surprising as when ICE, run by Obama-appointed stooges, supported Obama’s unconstitutional EO to grant amnesty-by-executive-fiat to millions of illegal aliens. Why, it’s almost as if the heads of these executive branch agencies think their jobs depend on Obama’s approval or something. \
AZCoyote on January 5, 2013 at 8:41 AM
Are there enough states to make it happen? No blue state would vote in favor and most likely no purple state. I think that if there was even a small chance of that that BO would not be ignoring the Constitution like he does.
Dr. Frank Enstine on January 5, 2013 at 8:41 AM
I don’t care about ICE. I do care about BO’s private army. Just imagine him issuing an EO that is backed up by tens of thousands of armed DHS and TSA flunkies marching the streets. It would be violence and bloodshed not seen in this country since the civil war. Just the excuse he needs to declare martial law and bring the NG into play and perhaps some UN peace keepers and we know if the UN gets involved our wives and daughters are not safe. Maybe our young boys too but, I’m a little unclear on the pillage and raping of young boys by UN peace keepers.
Dr. Frank Enstine on January 5, 2013 at 8:49 AM
Legislation? What does legislation have to do with it? How quaint.
petefrt on January 5, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Well, that’s one sure way for the government to eliminate the DHS and TSA.
Dusty on January 5, 2013 at 9:07 AM
Excellent! Bring on 2014!

I joined the NRA this week as a sponsored life member for $300 usual price for life membership is $1000.
meci on January 5, 2013 at 9:10 AM
Good luck getting that on the House floor. Good luck getting it out of committee.
dczombie on January 5, 2013 at 9:12 AM
Maybe we’re finally getting close to impeachment.
Aplombed on January 5, 2013 at 9:24 AM
Actually, we’re getting closer to martial law and the dissolving of congress, under the NDAA.
Rebar on January 5, 2013 at 9:26 AM
On the issue of guns/ammo, the dhs is at it again buying more ammo! Me thinks it might be a great idea to get all ammo you can before the fed agencies get all of it?

How? Do you really think there are enough house members willing to impeach? Do you think that Reid will allow the Senate to try BO even if the House impeaches him? Even if it all goes through, do you think the senate could reach the two-thirds majority needed for conviction? I really doubt it could happen. Even if the repubs gain control of both houses in 2014 they would never have enough votes in the senate to remove the first black president of the US.
Dr. Frank Enstine on January 5, 2013 at 9:34 AM
That’s what I think the plan is and has always been.
Dr. Frank Enstine on January 5, 2013 at 9:35 AM
If he makes this move before the mid terms, I think there is a chance to win both houses and a good chance for conviction in the senate. Maybe wishful thinking, but there are a lot of gun owners out there.
Aplombed on January 5, 2013 at 9:41 AM
This has not happened in any other country where gun confiscation has occurred. I find it unlikely in the extreme that there will be any serious resistance from the populace in the event of an EO confiscating guns.
Doomberg on January 5, 2013 at 9:43 AM
TSA huh? Hmmm…
“By the way, there has been a lot of communication recently between Napolitano and Pistole [TSA head]. They are planning to use TSA agents in tandem with local police for certain operations that are being planned right now. This is so [deleted] important that you cannot even begin to imagine. If you get nothing else out of this, please, please make sure you tell people to watch the TSA and their increasing involvement against the American public. They are the stooges who will be the ones to carry out certain plans when the dollar collapses and the gun confiscation begins.”
Akzed on January 5, 2013 at 9:55 AM
No worries, the R’s have our backs on this, right?
Bmore on January 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM
“This new purchase adds to the staggering figure of 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition already secured by the DHS over the last 9 months alone.”
petefrt on January 5, 2013 at 10:10 AM
That’s over five rounds for every man, woman, and child in America.
Something big is being planned, make no mistake.

How many of those other countries had a 2nd Amendment AND more than 300 million arms in the hands of the populace? Specifics, please.
Yoop on January 5, 2013 at 10:44 AM
I agree with you. IIRC, there are other fed agencies buying ammo also? Now that bho and the gun grabby bunch are he!! bent on trying to do away with the 2nd, wonder if bho/team feels the armed citizens aren’t going to take that real well and they will threaten us with armed fed/military members?

What a lobbying arm for us if all of the gun owners joined the NRA.
Vince on January 5, 2013 at 11:18 AM
You can expect serious resistance right here. And that Marine that wrote to fienstien. I don’t think we are alone. They would have to initiate war to confiscate, and that would open up a lot of eyes real fast.
