Obama’s fiscal cliff sanity proves he’s no agent of destruction
If the president really did nurse a deep-seated desire to ruin the free enterprise system (and the Republican Party along with it), he just missed his golden opportunity. …
Had the president stood firm on his endlessly re-affirmed determination to raise rates for all households earning more than $250,000, then John Boehner and the rest of the GOP would have refused any deal, taxes would have gone up automatically on every household and business, and the nation would have fallen into severe double-dip recession. Instead of forcing that outcome, the president agreed to exempt the big majority (70 percent) of those well-off families he originally had targeted, freezing tax rates for households majority with reported income between $250,000 and $450,000. Even taxpayers above the $450,000 line will pay far less than they would have paid if the tax system had gone off the cliff—because of big savings on all income earned below that line.
This deliverance from destruction should put to rest—forever—the toxic notion of the populist right that the president of the United States harbors the secret goal of destroying the country he’s been (twice) elected to lead. That idea often connects with idiotic claims about President Obama’s concealed Kenyan birth, hidden Muslim affiliation, radical Communist commitments, descent from Malcolm X or Frank Marshall Davis, control by demonic puppet-masters like George Soros, and so forth and so on ad infinitum (or insane-item).

Sorry, Michael. Taxes are about punishing the rich, not about destroying the economy. He’s destroying the economy through spending. Not to mention what he’s doing to our national security…

I read the title, then face palmed so hard it went clean through my head.

It warms the heart to read the Golden Rino Medved in the morning.
Of course the President doesn’t want to destroy the country! He’s really doing what he thinks is genuinely best for the United States and he really wants the best for you whether you are a weapons manufacturer or a UAW worker!
Medved can shout this all he likes, he was and remains a useful idiot. Barky’s plan involves furthering socialism, the rapid destruction of liberty, and the creation of a client state beholden to big government in perpetuity. He’s trying to do what LBJ did to the blacks the the entire country.
Medved is Dukakis in drag.

King RINO has obviously not seen the ‘If I Wanted America to Fail’ clip.

Oh, RLY? I missed what part of that deal addresses the debt problem.

Incrementalism, you crank. Heard of it?

The DailyBeast employee who wrote this headline ought to have inserted “intentional” in between “no” and “agent”:
Medved would not disagree with the fact that Obama’s policies are very destructive.

But I don’t make anything near 250 or 400 grand a year and we just had a meeting explaining that when the next paycheck comes along it will be less because taxes are going up. For me this years tax increase has completely wiped out my raise from last year and then some. Combined with price increases I’m truly living paycheck to paycheck for the first time in my life. I don’t do credit cards so at least I don’t have any CC debt.

Medved is a pathetically dumb man who read a lot of books, and now makes a living as a sideshow author.

Description of Michael Medved on Google.
Yeah, okay.

Go stick your face in a bowl full of epoxy, off-your-meds-ved, so you’ll stop making so many stupid noises. Obama is an uneducatable liberal who knows nothing BUT destruction!

LOL. Barky was anything but sane during the Sequester extortion. He was a lunatic tyrant, as usual. Clearly, the Indonesian sees himself as the Avenging Angel of the Third World, come to rain chaos and destruction on the West he’s so jealous of (Barky’s jealous of anyone with an IQ over 85) and hates so much. And you, Medved, are aiding and abetting the Indonesian with your mind-numbing stupidity. Go take a leap, dipsh!t. You’re another useless idiot.

Medved can be tedious, hard to take at times. I listened to his show for a while, but he’s so predictable and bland that it got boring.
petefrt on January 4, 2013 at 9:17 AM
I wouldn’t go as far as Medved does in giving Obama credit but I thought Obama was going to take us over the cliff. I do think Obama has a longer view of a socialist democratic victory over America which eventually means massive tax hikes on the middle class and big big cuts to the military (just like Europe) which the fiscal cliff offered Obama on a silver platter. I think the GOP did a bad job handling it but they did well enough that Obama wasn’t going to be able to blame them as much as wanted so he’ll just wait a little longer until more Americans get addicted to federal spending.

Come on now. Even the Emperor waited 19 years before dissolving the Senate. These things take time Michael.
Dongemaharu on January 4, 2013 at 9:30 AM
To squishes like Medved (and Noonan and Brooks and Frum), conservatives are the enemy, not hard-left socialists.
There are none more blind than those who cannot see. And glad-handing centrist softies with no core and no backbone like Medved are as blind as a bat who wanks 24 hours a day.
Right Mover on January 4, 2013 at 9:31 AM
Obama has plenty of time. He’s not even sworn into his 2nd term yet. Wait and see what he does.
Paul-Cincy on January 4, 2013 at 9:37 AM
I am under the impression that Obama’s eye is on the mid-terms. He wasn’t about to screw his chances of a clean sweep for his final two years.
OldEnglish on January 4, 2013 at 9:43 AM
Exactly. He’s using spending and the consequential debt to bring down the economy. It’s hardly a new idea. Here’s a 1934 cartoon outlining the process.
The Rogue Tomato on January 4, 2013 at 9:44 AM
Wow, that’s major stupid.
GWB on January 4, 2013 at 10:08 AM
I won’t bother to read the column, but I was wondering if Medved managed to squeeze in a sentence or two about how “elegant” Obama is. He was doing that regularly after the ’08 election, and that’s why I won’t bother to read him now.

Medved, your liberal roots are showing.
portlandon on January 4, 2013 at 10:44 AM
The debt is going to do that, not tax rates when we’re talking about +/- 5% or so. The deal is much worse for the debt than the cliff. So, what he did is entirely consistent with a plan to ruin the free enterprise system. Not that I’m saying that is his desire – the deal just isn’t proof of the opposite.

Michael Medved:
Excuse me, Michael, but what part of the “fiscal cliff deal” is sane?
There are NO reductions in spending, MASSIVE tax increases, and the net result is an ADDITIONAL $4 TRILLION IN DEBT!!!
This “deal” is clearly an attack on America aimed at destroying our wealth, our defense, our currency, our economy and our means to make a living. It is every bit as destructive as a cluster of nuclear bombs aimed at all of our major cities at once.
We know that you and the rest of the Obama Excuserati will never get your heads out of your a$$es far enough to notice, but facts are facts.
