The next Chernobyl will happen in Iran
Bushehr, however, could turn out to be the most dangerous piece of Iran’s nuclear puzzle for another reason: haphazard planning and ongoing technical problems mean it could be the next Chernobyl, igniting a humanitarian disaster and explosive economic damage across the oil-rich region.
Technical problems in the past 12 months have raised serious concerns about Iran’s capacity to competently operate the facility. The plant was shut down in October to limit potential damage following the discovery of stray bolts found beneath its fuel cells, the Reuters news agency reported, citing a Russian industry source. Western officials expressed concern about the plant after an I.A.E.A report in November stated that Iran had informed the agency about unexpected fuel transfers. Last week, the emir of Kuwait, Sheik Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, called upon Tehran to work more closely with the I.A.E.A. “to ensure the safety of the region’s state and its people.”…
Also troubling is the fact that Bushehr sits on an active fault line, raising the risks of a Fukushima-type catastrophe. Unless action is taken, the likelihood of an accident is far too high for the international community to ignore.
A Chernobyl-type nuclear meltdown in Bushehr would not only inflict severe damage in southern Iran, but also in the six oil and gas-rich Gulf Cooperation Council countries of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Is it wrong to wish your enemies catastrophic harm?
For all the falsely attributed harm blamed upon the United States, this bunch of seventh century apocalypse camel fornicators actually has been causing grievous harm the world over – including killing scores of our troops.
Perhaps we can help them.
Send in the crack nuclear engineering firm of Howard, Fine and Howard.

I would laugh myself sick if the Dome got hideously irradiated.

Why is this portrayed as a too big to fail issue. Let it fail spectacularly. That would give states messing with nuke power reason to rethink their plans, and it would give neighboring states good reason to oppose them proceeding with nuclear power a lot earlier in the process.
I vote to ignore.

Chernobyl was caused by a human created failed test but this one will be done with a virus and malware. And they will deny it even when they detect the isotopes in South America.

I hate it when that happens. Stray bolts under fuel cells suck.

Quality conservative reporting as usual. Just follow the links, it’s pathetic but par for the course. Some guy on twitter talks about a report of another guy talking about government talking about air pollution. Then the guy on twitter links to a month old report on radioactive leak that was denied.
Meanwhile in real world:
http://phys.org/news/2013-01-tehran-governor-shutdown-pollution.html
It has been going on for quite a while and the evidence is a distinct lack of blue skies for weeks on end in a number of large cities. Sort of like Shanghai. Radioactive leak doesn’t make the sky dark. And it doesn’t go away in a day or two, neither does it disappear on weekends and holidays.
Either that or maybe Iranians are using their weather control machines (that obviously Obama gave them) to cover up massive multiple city-wide nuclear disasters several times a month.

Obviously, you are a brilliant liberal with a lot of trust in the Iranian government, but …
Can you please explain why 1.5 million residents of Isfahan have been evacuated (as is being widely reported), if the problem is simply air “pollution”? Can you please link to an article from one of your trusted, non-conservative “news” sources which describes a previous evacuation of this size due to “pollution” in Iran.
Thanks.
