“Gun control” doesn’t survive Christmas
On the day of the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn., we published a chart showing the Sisyphean nature of the national gun control discussion. …
This time was supposed to be different. “It is hard to believe this will not be a watershed moment when we start to talk about, deal with and even perhaps legislate on guns,” ABC News’s Z. Byron Wolf wrote. …
Blame it on the fiscal cliff, blame it on Christmas, blame it on our ability to forget, but the national discussion about gun control has once again ebbed. Mentions of the term “gun control” on television, in newspapers, and in online media are down to pre-Sandy Hook levels, according to the Nexis database.

That’s OK, let the Dems spend a lot of time trying to pass it anyway. Less time they have for other crap.

Won’t stop the fool in chief, the supposed constitutional scholar.

The Dems hope to get another mass murder so they can get the discussion going again. Don’t think liberals weren’t slightly happy about the CT shooting. That is the kind of sick pricks they are. Anything is acceptable as long as it can be used for them to push their agenda.

True, but he said this was his top priority. In the past that’s always meant he has no plans to do anything and just wants to stop talking about it.

If the Dem establishment wanted the press to talk about, then the press would talk about. But the politicians know it’s a losing issue.

Blame it on the gun control zealots thinking that if they beat their heads against the wall again the result will be different.

While the NY elite news media, the bodyguard-protected celebs, and the liberal-because-its-trendy types all regurgitate the outdated and disproven “gun control will reduce crime” mantra, most Americans have become wise and thus gun ownership has evolved.
The MSM should try a new tactic: start reporting at the national news level about all the lives saved and property protected by law-abiding citizens who used guns to deal with the criminals. This type of reporting would actually reduce crime because the criminals would get this message loud and clear: it is too risky to victimize someone because they might be armed.

The media and Democrat politicians should get a commission for all the increased gun sales. They spent a couple of weeks terrorizing us with illogical and illegal proposals to limit people’s ability to protect themselves. Of course gun sales went up. Not all of us can afford to hire private security protection (like media, movie stars and Democrat politicians – but I repeat myself).
On the other hand, this is the only stimulus that Obama’s foisted on us that actually worked. Maybe if he threatened to ban solar panels, wind mills, electric cars…

I think they will still pass something. It may be a watered AWB that mimics what CT and MA have. In MA you can’t have a magazine with more then 10 rounds but older larger capacity magazines a grandfathered.

Liberals are even now pushing their anti-gun agenda in the media and in the schools. Twenty years from now your children will hate guns and vote to ban them.
If we don’t stop complaining and start fighting the root of the problem we lose everything.
Fight, take over or replace the media now.

The hacks at politico don’t want to acknowledge that we did have this discussion, it just didn’t go their way. And we will continue to have this discussion but “gun control” is now about putting guns in the hands of the good guys.

Pushing the “‘Media control’ will keep runaway media coverage from setting off the next nut” meme may also have somewhat cooled the ardour of the media for controlling things. It turns out the arguments for controlling guns apply just as well to the media – and the MSM lacks the popular support that guns have.
Also, accusing those who object to ‘common-sense media control’ of depraved indifference to the deaths of children, and Big Media of defending its profits from ‘violence porn’ from behind a wall of false concern for the First Amendment, has been great fun. I highly recommend it.

The GOP kinda blew any remaining leeway they had with their base with the “deficit reduction” “compromise.” If they don’t get some cuts out of the debt ceiling deal then you are going to see a resurgence of primary challenges in 2014. We all know they aren’t going to get much. These republicans can’t run on raising taxes, not cutting spending, and passing gun control.
