Breitbart
Source: Enough Republican congressmen willing to vote to unseat Boehner
“At least 20 House Republican members have gotten together, discussed this and want to unseat Speaker Boehner–and are willing to do what it takes to do it,” Meyer said. “That’s more than enough to get the job done, but the one problem these guys face is they need a leader to coalesce behind.”
Meyer said the conservatives have considered House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) to take the helm after Boehner is knocked out. His opposition from the right to the Senate fiscal cliff deal that Vice President Joe Biden cut with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is a sign Cantor may try for the job.

That would be one sweet (albeit unforgivably tardy) Xmas present, if true.
Kent18 on January 2, 2013 at 10:58 AM
Just hearing the words “Speaker Cantor” makes me want to throw up.
Mark1971 on January 2, 2013 at 10:58 AM
Gee, it sounds like Julius Caesar, ‘cept this time it ain’t in the Senate. Oh, and maybe we’ll root for the conspirators….
apostic on January 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM
Cantor? He knew the vote was forgone so he voted no to build his cred for just this move; the dude is a snake and was willingly polishing Boehner’s shoes until yesterday.
How about conservatives unseat the entire GOP caucus and start over instead.
Bishop on January 2, 2013 at 11:01 AM
Well, I guess Cantor would be an improvement, but not by much.
Valkyriepundit on January 2, 2013 at 11:02 AM
Pretty sad day when there are not even two people that come to mind immediately as a replacement. I hate politicians.
salem on January 2, 2013 at 11:03 AM
Louis Gohmert TX-1. It’ll never happen but I can dream.
TxAnn56 on January 2, 2013 at 11:05 AM
Cantor?
Meet the new boss….same as the old boss.
Won’t get fooled again.
WisRich on January 2, 2013 at 11:06 AM
How about Peter King?
dforston on January 2, 2013 at 11:06 AM
It’s Boehner minus the crying.
Oil Can on January 2, 2013 at 11:08 AM
From what I know of him, he’s someone I could enthusiastically support.
Anti-Control on January 2, 2013 at 11:09 AM
A Cantor speakership would be no different than Boehner’s.
The GOP will betray you.
True_King on January 2, 2013 at 11:09 AM
Unless someone from outside the House is chosen, it doesn’t really matter who they pick – nothing will change.
Pork-Chop on January 2, 2013 at 11:10 AM
Not exactly a fan of Cantor, but if he can do what Boner already does with fewer tears and no spray-on tan… a marginal improvement. Maybe.
Jeddite on January 2, 2013 at 11:11 AM
Cantor would sell his own mother to get the speaker’s chair, the dude is a ladder climber before all else.
Bishop on January 2, 2013 at 11:11 AM
Gohmert, Jim Jordan, Gowdy, Amash, Schweikert, Huelskamp……There are a few in congress I could really support as speaker.
topdawg on January 2, 2013 at 11:11 AM
good. Get rid of him
ted c on January 2, 2013 at 11:11 AM
The same sources that said an army of tea party votes was coming in for Romney and that all of the polls were skewed anyway?
Sorry. I don’t believe any sources.
Moesart on January 2, 2013 at 11:13 AM
That’s still a step forward.
Irritable Pundit on January 2, 2013 at 11:13 AM
I don’t see the names “Karl Rove,” “Jennifer Rubin” or “Dick Morris” mentioned anywhere in said article, do you…?
Kent18 on January 2, 2013 at 11:16 AM
How about Peter King?
dforston on January 2, 2013 at 11:06 AM
Peter King was a ‘yea’ vote yesterday.
Michelle Bachmann for speaker-if she can control her diarrhea of the mouth.
annoyinglittletwerp on January 2, 2013 at 11:17 AM
Didn’t Cantor take information about the alleged Gen. Petraeus sex scandal provided to him by an FBI whstle-blower informant and give it an Obama appointee – the head of the FBI – to quash just before the election, instead of going public with the information?
Tripwhipper on January 2, 2013 at 11:18 AM
Don’t vote no – until you know who you are voting YES for!
jake-the-goose on January 2, 2013 at 11:21 AM
Cantor would basically be no better than Boehner. On the other hand, it would definitely be nice to see someone finally be forced to take accountability for the GOP’s behavior in the past two-three years.
Doomberg on January 2, 2013 at 11:23 AM
This isn’t happening.
Delusions of grandeur from a think tank, that’s all.
Moesart on January 2, 2013 at 11:25 AM
How about Allen West?
The Rogue Tomato on January 2, 2013 at 11:26 AM
I would love to see Cantor take over leadership.
ButterflyDragon on January 2, 2013 at 11:28 AM
Allen West lost his election.
ButterflyDragon on January 2, 2013 at 11:29 AM
Hmmm…
Peter Roskam.
Fallon on January 2, 2013 at 11:30 AM
Lots of closet Democrats amongst the Republican party.
albill on January 2, 2013 at 11:31 AM
Re Allen West: I think I read that it doesn’t have to be a sitting congress critter. But, I know this happening is mere mental masturbation.
Dingbat63 on January 2, 2013 at 11:32 AM
I know, but I thought I read somewhere that the speaker doesn’t need to be a member of congress.
The Rogue Tomato on January 2, 2013 at 11:32 AM
Just a minor point of order – I fully expect Bo(eh)ner and his Boyz to vote for Pelosi before they vote for Cantor or anybody the insurgents put up.
That said, let it happen anyway. We may as well get used to saying Speaker Pelosi 2 years early. Plus, the laughter caused by the hilarity of the situation will be the only medicine we’ll get in the era of PlaceboCare.
Steve Eggleston on January 2, 2013 at 11:33 AM
Only natural, really. Rodents and other vermin do tend to congregate with their own kind, after all.
Kent18 on January 2, 2013 at 11:37 AM
Hmmm…
Peter Roskam.
Fallon on January 2, 2013 at 11:30 AM
Roskam would be okay.
annoyinglittletwerp on January 2, 2013 at 11:37 AM
Ryan, or don’t bother making a change at all.
Red Cloud on January 2, 2013 at 11:38 AM
He voted “no” on this pos, yet this morning on the radio I heard him say how much he supports Boehner and will being voting for his re-instatement as speaker.
Nope, speaker does not need to be a member of congress. Mr West would be ideal, imho.
tencole on January 2, 2013 at 11:39 AM
I would have Cantor before Boehner. I would have Paul Ryan before Boehner. I would have a lady like, Marsha Blackburn. I am tired of Boehner looking ill and wincing at the cameras.
Fleuries on January 2, 2013 at 11:40 AM
I’ll believe it when I see it.
CantCureStupid on January 2, 2013 at 11:44 AM
I don’t know if this would just be a step sideways. Until we primary more lifers and clean a little more house, it could take a while before we have any other choices besides Cantor as the next in line. And what are the chances of someone outside the House getting picked.
Dongemaharu on January 2, 2013 at 11:44 AM
And replace him with who exactly?
The election of someone else will be nice material for the media (GOP RIFT – TEA PARTY RACISTS VS. SLAVE OWNER PLUTOCRATS) and probably change nothing.
CorporatePiggy on January 2, 2013 at 11:45 AM
Ryan voted FOR the crap sandwich just passed. He’s out as well.
But a change MUST be made!
michaelo on January 2, 2013 at 11:48 AM
If Kantor is a snake, so much the better IF he is willing to fight dirty, we need a wartime consigliere… they should bring back Newt, seeing the speaker doesn’t have to be a member of congress… no worrying about a local election, pure fight, pure quest for glory
phreshone on January 2, 2013 at 11:50 AM
These purity tests have worked so well for us in the recent past.
Red Cloud on January 2, 2013 at 11:50 AM
Right, because the establishment has done such a bang-up job.
Dongemaharu on January 2, 2013 at 11:52 AM
Some of you here seem to think that America is clamoring for Tea Party leadership in Congress.
After the 2012 election, I no longer believe that’s even remotely true.
I think it’s come and past. America had the opportunity to steer itself away from a more socialist path to the future. It chose not to. So now we continue forward, slouching towards Gomorrah.
Vyce on January 2, 2013 at 11:52 AM
Seems to happen when she gets to desperate for a win. Might be worth it to see her catfight Pelosi. Yeah, that doesn’t solve our problems….
apostic on January 2, 2013 at 11:55 AM
This article is an “idiot test,” designed to check on the savviness of news consumers.
Note the sourcing. No, not Breitbart (though they HAVE become more irresponsible and sh*t-stirring since Andrew died), but rather an AMERICAN MAJORITY ACTION spokesman. Okay, anyone here want to tell me what’s wrong with using an ultra-hard-right Tea Party fundraising pimp as your primary source for “Boehner’s being replaced” MEGA-SCOOP? As opposed to, say, any actual Congressmen? (Oh, the other source is “another conservative!” Not even a supposed “conservative close to Congressional decisionmakers” but literally someone who could be you or me!)
This is a fake story, ginned up by one of the shadiest and least reputable Tea Party groups in order to 1.) increase their own profile; 2.) roil the waters.
I don’t know who this Fatso Judson is that wrote the Breitbart story, but he’s being used like a cheap trollop or he’s desperate to file a story. The only question is whether people here are dumb enough to get sucked in because the fake story accords with their RIGHTEOUSLY ANGRY ANGER.

“I’ll take ‘Statements Overheard at the Romney Presidential Inaugural‘ for $500, Alex.”
Kent18 on January 2, 2013 at 11:56 AM
I had the good fortune of meeting him and speaking with him face-to face for about 15 minutes back in 2008. He seems like the real deal to me. I could support Louis Gohmert for Speaker.
Or Lt. Col. Allen West…
Or Michelle Bachmann….
