Report: Chavez on life support after cancer surgery
Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez is in an induced coma being kept alive by life support following complications during cancer surgery, it was claimed today.
Sources at the hospital in Cuba where he is being treated told a Spanish newspaper he was showing ‘very weak’ vital signs, adding that doctors could decide to switch off the machines ‘at any moment’.
With rumours swirling that Chavez had taken a turn for the worse, Venezuela’s Vice President Nicolas Maduro said the ailing president’s condition remains ‘delicate’ three weeks after his cancer surgery.

I don’t wish death on any man, but I won’t mourn when this one dies.

Wouldn’t it be just too bad if one of the doctors mistook “off” for “on”?

I wonder if Obama still has that book? Telling if he does.

We could donate all Sean Penn’s organs to him. Would that help?
TexasDan on January 2, 2013 at 1:04 PM
Well, if he were in England, he’d be on the Liverpool Care Path – and dead already.
Hill60 on January 2, 2013 at 1:06 PM
Just give him a pain pill.

Maybe Michael Moore can take him to Cuba for world-class treatment. Oh wait!

Well at least he is in Cuba, where the finest medical care in the world exists…he couldn’t have picked a better spot to die.

…no doubt Sean Penn is on a private jet rushing to be at Hugo’s side…

Now Sean Penn has a huge decision…do you where the Che shirt or the Hugo shirt?
right2bright on January 2, 2013 at 1:14 PM
On life support, I think the condition has gone beyond “delicate”. Maybe they could go the Kagemusha route.

Uh huh. They said that about Fidel years ago. These guys don’t go easy.
I hate cancer so much that I’d prefer to see him beat it, and then encounter a firing squad.
juliesa on January 2, 2013 at 1:17 PM
I’ve heard that’s the way to go.
forest on January 2, 2013 at 1:18 PM
Well, something happened where his brain was deprived of oxygen. So, they put him into a coma to reduce the swelling of his brain. Sean Penn better break out his widow weaves.
Blake on January 2, 2013 at 1:22 PM
Hope he “recovers” than has another relapse, recovers, and has another…eternal hell, kind of a cancer waterboarding…
Hey Hugo, have faith, you could recover and win the Tour de France…
right2bright on January 2, 2013 at 1:22 PM
I sounds like he may already be dead. As to whether or not him going to meet his maker is good or bad? I don’t really know. My first instinct is to say that Venezuela will be better off but that may not be the case. We will just have to wait and see how they turn out without their king to lead them.
The thing I find curious about him is that he attempted and failed at a coup back in the 90s. I would have thought that would have been high treason and would have gotten him at the very least a life sentence. I guess not and the people found it within their interests to elect him president and to support his corrupt practices. I have little sympathy for the people of Venezuela. They got what they wanted and will now have to cross their fingers that everything will not take a nose dive without dear leader.

Cuba still has the best health care system in the world. Hillary should take advantage of that.

Wow, he must be pretty cancery.

For Chavez, dying of cancer is taking the easy way out.
I, too, would rather see him executed for his crimes against his people.
UltimateBob on January 2, 2013 at 2:19 PM
Judging by the abysmal condition of the neighborhoods Bammy “organized” in Chicago, I’d say that answer to that question is a resounding NO.
Our own Dear Leader left the Chicago communities he “organized” in worse condition than he found them. But as we know from watching Hillary Clinton’s political career, a record of abject failure is nothing but a resume’ enhancer for a Democratic presidential candidate.
AZCoyote on January 2, 2013 at 2:43 PM
..for Chavez (and all of us), there is still hope! I mean, if it’s the Sean-Penn-wished-for colon cancer, the docs in Cuba can always use the patented wire-brush procedure.
The War Planner on January 2, 2013 at 2:57 PM
General Francisco Franco is still dead.
