Backlash prompts Newtown survivor’s attorney to pull lawsuit, for now
“I was getting hundreds of (Facebook) comments” about the potential lawsuit. “So I figured I’d take (the request) off the table for now,” said Irving Pinsky, who represents the parents of a 6-year-old survivor of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school.
Last week, Pinsky said in his filing that the state had failed to protect his client from what he described as “foreseeable harm.”…
Pinsky said Tuesday that “nervousness” among Newtown residents was also a motivator in dropping his client’s request to sue the state, which has immunity against most lawsuits unless it grants permission for a claim.
He declined to elaborate, though said “we reserve all rights to bring up this request again,” in spite of complaints and threats he says he’s received.

Good plan pinksy! I’m not sure you would win if you did go forward with this. And as for the parents of ‘said child’ they have a child alive, many others don’t!

Just imagine how many teachers could be trained and armed for $100,000,000.
Yeah…that many.

I thought it was funny how he initially said that the lawsuit, which sought $100 million in damages, was not about money, but about making the state’s schools safer.
Because nothing will make the state’s schools safer than forcing the taxpayers who pay for those schools to make a multi-million-dollar tort payout to one set of parents, right?

Why is it being phrased as if the attorney decided to drop the suit? Isn’t it up to the parents who hired him to decide that?

I know several firearms instructors with the appropriate background who are offering to do this for free. I’d be surprised if there aren’t hundreds out there who have made the same offer.

A hearse is a lot slower and easier to catch than an ambulance.

sleazeball lawyer or not, the school and state should be held responsible for what happened because Gun Free Zones are magnets for maniacs.
