Obama: Yes, I’m serious about gun control next year
“I think there are a vast majority of responsible gun owners out there who recognize that we can’t have a situation in which somebody with severe psychological problems is able to get the kind of high capacity weapons that this individual in Newtown obtained and gun down our kids,” he added. “And, yes, it’s going to be hard.”…
Obama seemed unimpressed by the NRA proposal. “I am skeptical that the only answer is putting more guns in schools,” he said. “And I think the vast majority of the American people are skeptical that that somehow is going to solve our problem.”
The president said he intends to press the issue with the public.
“The question then becomes whether we are actually shook up enough by what happened here that it does not just become another one of these routine episodes where it gets a lot of attention for a couple of weeks and then it drifts away,” Obama said. “It certainly won’t feel like that to me. This is something that – you know, that was the worst day of my presidency. And it’s not something that I want to see repeated.”

Watch him try to do a Howard – making everyone suffer for the crime of one.

We’re serious about keeping your communist hands off the 2nd Amendment.
We know you what you want … civilian disarmament. You can’t have it.
darwin on December 30, 2012 at 11:23 AM
So I guess laws against stealing another person’s guns will do the trick. /
changer1701 on December 30, 2012 at 11:24 AM
Well this is going to get good isn’t it? I think bho has underestimated how we American’s feel about our 2nd and this will not end well if they try a gun control stunt? WE have got to see to it we can defend ourselves from the likes of bho/team with their wanting to take complete control of our Republic!

Bring it on. One party rule and dictates won’t be favorably received here in the Southern States.
One party rule is EXACTLY what this nation needs in order for everyone to relearn the lessons and principles of liberty and revolution.
HondaV65 on December 30, 2012 at 11:28 AM
Exactly. Hey, let’s make killing people against the law while we’re at it.
Quisp on December 30, 2012 at 11:28 AM
It seems to me Presidents are usually historically much less effective in their 2nd term. I expect more regulatory shenanigans than new laws, although they may pass a large capacity magazine bill. In casual conversation, that doesn’t seem to bother as many people. They don’t think about the incrementalism which is the lefties typical strategy.

Eh, whatever. He’s going to jam it down our throats like he did ObamaCare. It’s not going to matter. it will then go to the SCOTUS and they’ll probably side with Obama. Also, the republicans will cave because you know, it’s the guns that kill people.
Hey, so the gun killed Osama not the Navy Seals or Obama. If we’re going to go that route…
mrscullen on December 30, 2012 at 11:31 AM
Gun Control is moot. Let them bring it on.
We live in an age of “3D Printing” and CNC machines – any idiot can make a fully auto rifle with these tools.
And – once I’m considered an “outlaw” for owning a gun – then I have nothing to lose by going all the way and going fully automatic.
Prohibition didn’t work for alcohol. Didn’t work for Abortion. Hasn’t worked yet for drugs.
G’head … outlaw them – I have no problem being an outlaw.

Either he’s trying to stimulate the economy via gun and ammo sales, or Pres Obama is trying to ensure Dems take a beating in 2014 and Hillary goes down in flames.
.
Of course it could be he can’t see the firestorm he’s creating… but that would mean he’s not the smartest president evah.
LincolntheHun on December 30, 2012 at 11:34 AM
Exactly right, incrementalism has been their strategy for a century and the GOP still doesn’t get it. The Leftists always ask for the moon when expecting to only get halfway there and the GOP always obliges by offering half the moon. Repeat the process and in time the Dems get the moon.
Has worked for decades.
Charlemagne on December 30, 2012 at 11:34 AM
Oh, by all means, let’s create more and more and bigger gun-free zones, they seem to work so well.

LincolntheHun on December 30, 2012 at 11:36 AM
Remember how well George W. Bush’s push for partial privatization in his second term went? Yea, Obama has the media on his side, unlike Bush, but the politics of gun control has proved radioactive for Democrats since the late 90s. Only in the most liberal of congressional districts is gun control not a third rail issue.
Gun control has become a third rail issue, only Democrats haven’t realized it yet.

Who cares what Obama will try to do. What matters is what the GOP will do. They better not fold on this. They better fight it.
The same goes for certain democrats from areas of this country that support gun rights. Like Manchin of West Virginia.
We need to keep the pressure up and make sure they do what is right. I have already seen enough GOP folks wavier on this issue to cause concern. The NRA is more popular right now than the GOP or Obama…
With that said I have no idea what polls Obama is talking about. Most Americans want armed security in schools according to the polls. I also highly doubt anything of use comes from anything run by Biden.

What a simplistic twit. The proposal is to have people trained in schools that can handle a gun. The likes of Obama blame guns and think the NRA is claiming guns alone will do the trick.
Good people with guns is the best answer to bad people with guns.

albill on December 30, 2012 at 11:41 AM
If he tries for anything more than the old assault weapons ban, his popularity will plummet. I don’t think the average person, who may not care about politics but voted for him anyway, or even people that don’t vote, will like the president likening them to criminals and wanting to take away their guns.

The problem is that libs think anhone who shows any desire to have any kind of gun has “severe psychological problems”.

I have been too but in this case I think there is opposition in this country for gun control that will make the ObamaCare opposition look tiny in comparison.
People may like free Obamaphones but they also like their firearms.

Actually, it’s going to be quite easy. DOA.
President Obama still sees the Presidency as his personal journey and his own post-modern narrative.
Not that he can really be blamed for that anymore, as the voting public ratified his delusions.

JohnTant on December 30, 2012 at 12:49 PM
A report in the Connecticut shooting let slip that the assault weapon was found in the trunk of the kids car and he had handguns inside the school.
So if the assault weapon didn’t kill those kids, the use of it as a means to ban assault weapons is a dishonest, disingenuous ploy by the Fast and Furious Gang. Some REPUNKS need to get out the facts on Connecticut and Fast and Furious and Bengahzi, or are they all too distracted by the Fiscal Cliff crap? LET IT BURN, may they all Burn with, it Repunks and Commies alike!
