If the U.S. doesn’t change its gun laws, I may have to leave
The ‘more guns, less crime’ argument is utter nonsense. Britain, after Dunblane, introduced some of the toughest gun laws in Europe, and we average just 35 gun murders a year.
Japan, which has the toughest gun control in the world, had just TWO in 2006 and averages fewer than 20 a year. In Australia, they’ve not had a mass shooting since stringent new laws were brought in after 35 people were murdered in the country’s worst-ever mass shooting in Tasmania in 1996. Fewer guns equals less gun murder. This is not a ‘pinko liberal’ hypothesis. It’s a simple fact.
In conclusion, I can spare those Americans who want me deported a lot of effort by saying this: If you don’t change your gun laws to at least try to stop this relentless tidal wave of murderous carnage, then you don’t have to worry about deporting me.
Although I love the country as a second home and one that has treated me incredibly well, I would, as a concerned parent first – and latterly, of a one-year-old daughter who may attend an American elementary school like Sandy Hook in three years’ time – seriously consider deporting myself.

Violent crime in the gun-happy dangerous scary US? 466 crimes per 100,000 people.
Violent crime in the ultra-safe UK with no guns? 2,034 crimes per 100,000 people.
So you see he’s going to be MUCH safer. Because 2,034 is so much less than 466…
Damn, math really IS hard isn’t it?

Why do they focus on “gun murders”? I know it’s a statistic they can use that seems to show America as this ultra violent nation, but seriously, don’t they understand normal people see the word “gun” in front of the word murder.
Sure the United States has higher “gun” violence. We have more firearms in our country than any other nation in the world.
But let’s look at flat out “murder”. Just murder rates. The United States is 108th when it comes to murder rates. 107 countries have a higher murder rate than the United States. That’s straight from the UN. You know, that organization liberals love to quote.
The UK has 4 times the violent crime rate as the United States.
I guess in Piers mind it’s better 4 women be raped and live to talk about it than 1 to be raped and kill her attacker.
Liberalism is a disease. I wish the CDC would work on it.

Everyone, including each of us, who is giving him so much media attention is playing right into his sweaty hands.
He is milking this subject for all he can get, trying desperately to make himself appear relevant. It’s all about the ego and ratings.

135 died at the hands of arsonists in 2009. Their PM called it mass murder.
Funny how Piers only wants to talk gun violence. Like the only way violent acts are committed are with guns. Somehow he wants to avoid talking general violent crime numbers and stats. I wonder why…hack.
A person murdered is a person murdered. Ask someone being stabbed to death how they think gun control makes them safer.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
And, Oh, By the Way, you disingenuous twerp – It’s More Guns Less CRIME (not less Gun Crime.)
In Britian CRIME went way the heck up after you disarmed all of the victims, and it is Higher per capita by far than in the U.S.
So you lower one specific category in crime for increases in every other category, by a greater margin than you lowered the first category- nice logic there what?
