Powerful jihadist rebel group in Syria accuses U.S. of supporting Assad
Syrian jihadist group the Al-Nusra Front, blacklisted by Washington as a terror outfit, has accused the United States of seeking to keep President Bashar al-Assad in power.
“The continued US and international support for prolonging the regime’s lifespan by giving extensions (for a political transition), sending observers and trying to negotiate peace is clear to everyone,” the group’s leader, Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani, said in a voice recording posted online.
“The United States is expressing its failure in the region by putting the Al-Nusra Front on its terror list (merely) for helping the (Syrian) people,” he added.

Smart “foreign” power.
Another obama sponsored uprising. This one has cost close to 40K soldiers, rebels and civilians in low estimates. If you have the stomach for it, there are videos with many of these factions executing their prisoners with US made weapons.
Al-Nusra Front was in the fight a while doing these things before the obama administration said anything about their behavior.

Does this mean Syria will no longer be pro western? I missed the part where they were our loving friends and partners in peace. Do we owe the freedom fighters something?

Their day in The Hague answering to war crimes just like Bashar Al Assad. Both sides are pretty bad.

Neither side is a major exporter of popcorn so we have no dilemma actually in having to chose a side.
