Doubling down: NY paper to identify more gun-permit holders after outcry
A suburban New York newspaper that sparked an uproar among gun enthusiasts by publishing names and addresses of residents holding pistol permits is now planning to publish even more identities of permit-toting locals.
Further names and addresses will be added as they become available to a map originally published on December 24 in the White Plains, New York-based Journal News, the newspaper said…
The newspaper’s editor and vice president of news, CynDee Royle, earlier in the week defended the decision to list the permit holders.
“We knew publication of the database would be controversial, but we felt sharing as much information as we could about gun ownership in our area was important in the aftermath of the Newtown shootings,” she said.

I don’t know. Why don’t you ask, and if you don’t like the answer lobby to make welfare receipts public. It’s the internet age, everyone – expect any and all data to be aggregated and applied to all different things.

A take away for me was total surprise that there were that many CCW permits in that area. I thought that north of Virginia (except NH) it was dang near impossible to get one.
As for the newspaper scumbags…hope minds more creative than mine can come up with sauce for the gander activity.

When Robert Bork died the other day, I remembered when the Wash Post published a list of movies he had rented at a local video store in the middle of those hearings. Like that was some kind of gotcha.

I honestly think this will hurt people who don’t have guns. Bad guys can look at the map and see who is unarmed.

I am not bothered by this at all! As a pro-gun supporter this is a wonderful thing. It will (and is) create a backlash against those that support gun-control, those that support having a federal database of gun owners, the liberal media, etc., etc.

Do you really believe that those people not listed are all unarmed? Then you don’t know anything about guns. Is every car in your neighborhood registered?
Point is just because somebody is not listed as a gun-owner does not mean they don’t own an arsenal.
