Mystery Science Theater 3000′s worst movie of all time is…
2. Batman and Robin (27,929 votes)
Here’s a fun thing to do: 1) Watch Batman and Robin. 2) Think about the fact that the huge Teutonic idiot stumbling around in a metal costume making horrible “cold” puns was elected Governor of the most populous and wealthy state in America — twice! 3) Move to an abandoned oil derrick in the Atlantic ocean and start your own country.

Lame. Twilight?
Why not the last Resident Evil or Rendition or Pearl Harbor?
tom daschle concerned on December 28, 2012 at 10:47 PM
Don’t they mean the “worst movies of the short window of movies that these dorks experienced in their lifetime” and NOT the worst movies of ALL TIME? After all, where is Rosanne Barr’s “She Devil”? How about “Birth of a Nation” that glorified the KKK? These stupid lists are always made by people that think history started when they were born.
Warner Todd Huston on December 28, 2012 at 10:54 PM
This list was voted on by moviegoers. You’re making the assumption that enough people have seen those movies to even be able to vote on them as terrible.
salmonczar on December 28, 2012 at 10:54 PM
They obviously don’t get out much.
Gothic (1986), Serial Mom (1994?) are both worse than just about anything on their list.
sharrukin on December 28, 2012 at 10:56 PM
Serial Mom was HILARIOUS!
tom daschle concerned on December 28, 2012 at 11:03 PM
No Joe Versus the Volcano? Man, that movie sucked beans.
Sekhmet on December 28, 2012 at 11:04 PM
You are demented. Let me guess you also liked Battle Beyond The Stars, and that movie Dungeons and Dragons?

Never heard of em. sowwy.

sharrukin on December 28, 2012 at 11:10 PM
Sudden Death with Jean-Claude Van Damme.
The absolute worst movie ever made.
All right, maybe I Know Who Killed Me was worse.
kit dinker on December 28, 2012 at 11:11 PM
Worse than Double Team with Van Damme and Dennis Rodman? Wow…
JimLennon on December 28, 2012 at 11:14 PM
How about Ice Pirates?
tom daschle concerned on December 28, 2012 at 11:14 PM
Obviously a bogus list since Prometheus isn’t on it.
Bat Chain Puller on December 28, 2012 at 11:15 PM
Beverly Hills Ninja
tom daschle concerned on December 28, 2012 at 11:15 PM
Particularly in the case of Rendition. Outside of self-righteous liberals looking to feel good about their hatred of Bush’s anti-terrorism policies, did anyone see that movie? Ditto for Redacted, Lions for Lambs, and In the Valley of Elah.
JimLennon on December 28, 2012 at 11:16 PM
Fine. Then at some point we need to bring up Kazaam.
kit dinker on December 28, 2012 at 11:16 PM
YES! Troll 2 made the list! There wasn’t even a Troll 1.
Do yourselves a favor:
Get a good hard buzz on and watch Troll 2. The whole thing. You’ll be so sad yet glad you did.
blatantblue on December 28, 2012 at 11:19 PM
Best part of Troll 2 (well, one of them):

blatantblue on December 28, 2012 at 11:21 PM
Hey now! I have lots of happy childhood memories growing up in the 1980s and watching tons of cheap rip-offs of Star Wars and Conan the Barbarian!
And Ice Pirates was one of them!
And Krull. And The Beastmaster.
But if you want genuine ’80s sci-fi/fantasy schlock, see if you can find The Dungeonmaster, Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn, or a truly painful adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Nightfall.

Can’t believe my favorite movie of all time made this list. No way Troll 2 should be on here.
topdawg on December 28, 2012 at 11:34 PM
watch this, it’s an 8 minute summary of Troll 2.
the young boy ended up doing a hit documentary on the movie (producer, actors, etc), and Troll 2 has become a cult sensation with people my age (20s). First thing to know is that the movie is called “Troll 2″ (no original Troll prequel, mind you), and the monsters aren’t even called trolls in the movie. They’re called goblins, and the movie takes place in the town of “Nilbog,” or, “Goblin” backwards…
Just watch this:

Not surprised Last Airbender is up there, but it should be the worst on that list.
nobar on December 28, 2012 at 11:41 PM
No “Desperately Seeking Susan” starring Madonna?
UltimateBob on December 28, 2012 at 11:46 PM
They obviously never saw “A Distant Thunder.”
(Then again, that’s sort of a “niche” movie.)
CurtZHP on December 29, 2012 at 12:04 AM
…or any of her movies for that matter.
lexhamfox on December 29, 2012 at 12:16 AM
No Ishtar? or Major League II? or Swept Away? C’mon.
rcpjr on December 29, 2012 at 12:44 AM
Not wanting to nitpick, but Rifftrax has no official ties to MST3K (which is still owned by Jim Mallon’s ‘Best Brains’ entity). Rifftrax was started by head writer Mike Nelson, with former Mistie cohorts Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett eventually joining him.
I still consider “Manos” to be the WORST film ever made. And I am shocked that “Heaven’s Gate” didn’t make the list. That five-hour long pile of cinematic waste only managed to destroy a film studio and end the era of director-driven filmmaking forever.
Myron Falwell on December 29, 2012 at 12:52 AM
Forced myself over the holidays to watch the first Twilight. Had to break it up in two parts. Second part was better probably for the sole reason that Stewart gets beat up.
After that (and I’ve seen Ishtar, Heaven’s Gate, Plan 9 and a whole bunch of bad movies) I can’t really disagree. Good bad movies can usually be redeemed if there’s alcohol. It was impossible to see how alcohol could have saved Twilight I.
kim roy on December 29, 2012 at 1:16 AM
It *is* a John Waters movie. Bad is a matter of taste with him.
kim roy on December 29, 2012 at 1:18 AM
lol i watched that..that was epically bad and also so freaking awesome at the same time..now i think i have to watch the full movie to get the full effect of it
sadsushi on December 29, 2012 at 1:22 AM
That doesn’t make it good, any more than Uwe Boll’s movies are.
Never seen the Twilight movies but I did see Snow White and the Huntsman and I understand that the Kirsten lady can act as well as a cigar store Indian, but it can’t seriously have been worse than Heaven’s Gate? Perhaps your memory of that event has been dulled by the passage of time?
sharrukin on December 29, 2012 at 1:26 AM
I just found troll 2 on netflix..oh man
sadsushi on December 29, 2012 at 1:28 AM
Hyde Park on the Hudson has to be one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long time.
RINOs are people too on December 29, 2012 at 1:31 AM
John Waters is John Waters. He intends (or did anyways – he has gone relatively mainstream for him) to offend and be crude.
She is a terrible actress. It has been a long time since Heaven’s Gate. I just remember it as being boring and absolutely nothing happening. Pointless. It did have good actors in it, which might have elevated it whereas Twilight doesn’t have that luxury.
I’ll take your word for it because I don’t want to watch HG again!
Pretty much killed Cimino’s career, but I guess it was earned.
kim roy on December 29, 2012 at 1:35 AM
I gave up watching movies in the name of boredom and a waste of money and time. I can honestly say I have not seen one of the movies on this list.
Dollayo on December 29, 2012 at 1:55 AM
I hated Twilight because it presents the totally wrong moral message to impressionable children. If I ever have kids, they’d be better off reading Danielle Stelle dreck.
Myron Falwell on December 29, 2012 at 2:07 AM
Mrs Hawkdriver (Not her real name) still gets teased by the daughter and I for the movie night pick she made years ago. “Universal Soldier”. We could not finish the whole film.

Soldier, with Kurt Russel, on the other hand …

Yikes! Gothic is one of my fave art house films. As for Serial Mom, it’s a hoot! Who could forget Kathleen Turner’s psycho killer courtroom manipulation–that twenty-second classic of her, er…fanning her pantyhose.
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on December 29, 2012 at 2:48 AM
Gothic brought the word ‘BAD’ to new levels of badness. Bad acting. Bad effects. Bad everything. That film just oozed rottenness from every bad scene…Simply bad beyond all infinite dimensions of possible badness… Well, maybe not that bad, but Lord, it wasn’t good.
sharrukin on December 29, 2012 at 2:52 AM
Okay. Guess I can’t argue while laughing so hard at your definitions of “badness”. Guess I just loved when the winged little demon thing jumped up onto the chick’s bed.
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on December 29, 2012 at 2:59 AM
That was actually a quote from opus the Penguin.
My friend actually owed me for picking out that movie. I had three free bad movie picks to make up for that stinker.
I guess there isn’t a movie out there that doesn’t appeal to at least someone.
sharrukin on December 29, 2012 at 3:04 AM
Back in Sweet Home Chicago in the late 80s/early 90s, I used to go to a lot of art house movies. Admittedly, Gothic was more in love with concept than story. But there is something to take (if not adore) from every film-going experience. It’s in my nature to find nothing All bad.
Example, the 27 second clip I posted of Serial Mom at 2:48. Yeah, it was vulgar but it was also FUNNY!
p.s. re: the title of this thread. I still *heart* Tom Servo and Joel. Mike and Crow? Blech.
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on December 29, 2012 at 3:19 AM
Sorry. Took a second read to catch this. Berk Breathed’s Opus! Cripes, I miss him! More even than Calvin and Hobbes!
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on December 29, 2012 at 3:28 AM
I love zombie movies and bad science fiction so my standards aren’t high, but I just can’t stand toilet humor. It has always seemed to me to be a replacement for actual humor. If you can’t make a comedy actually…you know, funny, then you go for the boobies and the vulgar.
Calvin and Hobbes are my favorite. I even downloaded their books so I can reread them occasionally. Bloom County is good, but sometimes his overt politics gets to be too much. I guess like Stephen King, he just can’t help himself. When he stays away from politics he can be very good, just not as consistently as Calvin and Hobbes was.
sharrukin on December 29, 2012 at 3:41 AM
What?
No “Overdrawn at the Memory Bank”?!!!
A rear low budget stinker with poor special effects and Raul Julia!
