Mitt Romney should take on the NRA or something
Unlike most of this year’s other losers, Romney still has money, an organization and a band of wealthy donors. So what should he do with them?
My suggestion is to take on Wayne LaPierre, chief executive of the National Rifle Association. LaPierre says he represents beleaguered gun owners, but his massive war chest comes from the gun industry (which has provided him with almost $40 million in recent years), not necessarily from NRA members.
What Romney first needs to do is quash the NRA’s unhinged crusade to put armed security guards and out-of-work police officers at every school. LaPierre announced this last week after the unspeakable massacre of 20 small children, and some of the teachers who tried to save them, in a small town in Connecticut. The deranged gunman, wielding a military-type assault weapon, also killed his mother and himself.
Then Romney can lead the campaign for the assault-weapon ban, which is being readied for the new Congress and is much tougher than the one that lapsed in 2004. As governor of Massachusetts, Romney embraced gun control, signing an assault- weapons ban.

Please, tell these Old Media nitwits that we want Mitt Romney to just fade away.

LOL. What about Dan Quayle?
Mark1971 on December 28, 2012 at 8:35 PM
Yeah, some of us know this. He also signalled a willingness to make a deal with the left on gun control in the debates.

Sell out the Republicans on a key issue for the sake of pleasing the left and burnishing his “moderate” credentials? Sounds right up Romney’s alley.

“He [Romney] is a supporter of the federal assault weapons ban.”
- Romney 2002 campaign website
“That’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA,” Romney told the Boston Herald in 1994.
At another campaign stop that year, he told reporters: “I don’t line up with the NRA.”
- Boston Globe, January 14, 2007
(Gov. Romney’s news release, 7/1/2004)
“In a move that will help keep the streets and neighborhoods of Massachusetts safe, Governor Mitt Romney today signed into law a permanent assault weapons ban…”
(2002 C-SPAN2 Gubernatorial debate)
“We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts; I support them,” he said. “I won’t chip away at them; I believe they protect us and provide for our safety.”
(Gov. Romney’s news release, 7/1/2004)
“Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts. These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”

He could get Clinton to work with him, the original author of putting cops in schools.
“Ancient history, you rightist twit!” Margaret replied.

Unfortunately Margeret Carlson makes all too much sense looking at it from their perspective, Romney was, after all, the leader of the “Assault Weapons Ban”. He is a renown flip flopper. Why not? On the other hand, why should anybody care? Romney is a loser! Does anybody care what Charlie Crist thinks, or whatever his name is?
FloatingRock on December 28, 2012 at 9:12 PM
I predict that Romney will lead from behind, as usual. He will say nothing and do nothing until consensus has already been firmly established and then, if at all, Romney might swoop in a pretend he’s a leader.
FloatingRock on December 28, 2012 at 9:15 PM
What on Earth is this stupid b*tch talking about?
Pork-Chop on December 28, 2012 at 9:19 PM
Awesome. Crazy and Christian reference in the same sentence! And she’s so very right, y’know, because the Air Marshal program was such an unhinged crusading disaster.
John the Libertarian on December 28, 2012 at 9:22 PM
Funny thing, that. Fox News RINO’s forgot to mention that Romney is the leader of the “Assault Weapons Ban” in America. Mitt Romney was championed the cause and was the first governor in the nation to sign the Assault Weapons Ban.
I guess they forgot to tell you, but that’s what you get for having so much faith in NY/DC corporate media outlet, even if the alternatives are even worse.
FloatingRock on December 28, 2012 at 9:24 PM
Margaret Carlson should use her powers of persuasion from her long experience and connections in the media to convince her like-minded journalists to take on those all those beleaguered possessors of illegal guns in Chicago in house to house fashion.
I suggest they carry assault weapons and large capacity magazines to use as talking points, but no ammo, since that might suggest an illegal intent and I don’t want to be considered an accessory to any gun law violations.
Dusty on December 28, 2012 at 9:25 PM
At times like this I really appreciate my governor, Rick Perry. I don’t think he would’ve done any better against the One than Mitt did, but he is absolutely sterling on 2A. He lives it.

Huh? What’s your point? Obviously, you are a fan of this Margaret Carlson b*tch (seriously, who the hell is she?), but I have no idea what your comment has to do with her bizarre, magical delusions about the NRA and what she thinks that private-citizen Romney “NEEDS TO DO” with his money.

I swear to G-d, that was two syllables short of an Onion piece.
HerneTheHunter on December 28, 2012 at 9:57 PM
Basically any Onion article that doesn’t involve aliens could about come from an actual ‘news’ source.
And it only gets worse: I’ve a MAD Magazine collection/history book from their earliest days, and you would not believe how many of THEIR parody articles could have easily come from yesterday’s paper.

Now that Obama has secured reelection, he should use OFA resources to fight the global warming jihadis within his party. Oh right – he is one of them.

I oppose Chris Cristie and Rudy Giuliani for President because they’re gun grabbers, too. I have zero tolerance for enemies of freedom and liberty.
FloatingRock on December 28, 2012 at 10:29 PM
So writing fantasy articles passes for journalism these days? “Oh boy, wouldn’t it be awesome if the loser progressive GOP candidate went after the NRA? After the elections, guys like McCain and Romney become more powerful than anyone can possibly imagine! Next week, I’ll write how Romney should go after the pro-lifers. Legions of conservatives will follow him!”

Liberals seem to think that the reason Romney lost is because he was pulled too far right by conservatives. Seriously, that’s what they believe. Meanwhile, they were the ones who worked tirelessly to yoke Akin and Mourdock to him when he completely disavowed their remarks.
Meanwhile, the NRA has a higher approval rating than their reelected president, but Romney is supposed to have a sista souljah moment with them for polices we’ve already tried in the 90′s and didn’t work.
The Count on December 28, 2012 at 10:59 PM
Um, probably because his sons do better in their current positions than in the military.

This is a low and deceitful article. The Mass gun bill was backed by the gun owner groups in Mass and the NRA. The reason being that gun owners were getting something in return, as opposed to nothing. The Democrat legislature could have done anything they wanted and easily overridden any veto. Anyone could easily look this up rather than repeating the disgusting liberal lies.

People who do not stand for anything… They could have passed anything, and they likely would have overreached and the supreme court would strike it down.

Is Mitt Romney lying about this?
sharrukin on December 28, 2012 at 11:42 PM
Depending on the Supreme Court to solve your problems and fight your battles is a very risky business as the recent decision on Obamacare shows. The federal courts have done absolutely nothing for Massachusetts gun owners —ever.
claudius on December 28, 2012 at 11:51 PM
Since some cannot be bothered to actually go to the link and read what the NRA said about the bill I will post part of it here:
“Despite the efforts of some (including The Boston Globe) to spin this bill as an extension of or creation of a new “Assault Weapons” ban, the bill makes no net changes to the Commonwealth`s laws regarding those types of firearms. The three sections referencing them merely dealt with re-affirming the definitions of what an “Assault Weapon” could be.”

Romney Takes Opportunity to Betray Gun Owners
When asked by a reporter if he supported the renewal of the federal “assault weapons” ban and if he had spoken to the senators about it, Governor Romney replied that it was not really his job to lobby on federal legislation, but that he shared Senator Kerry’s and Senator Kennedy’s position on the issue!
So is Mitt Romney lying?
sharrukin on December 29, 2012 at 12:15 AM
If you’d rather take on Romney rather than Feinstein, Schumer and the liberal establishment, fine. Just don’t ask me to help you. I hope you and Margaret Carlson will be very happy together.
claudius on December 29, 2012 at 12:23 AM
Romney is part of the liberal establishment.
sharrukin on December 29, 2012 at 12:29 AM
Margaret Carlson should go eat a bag of….sausages. Or something.
Leave the guy alone. He owes nothing to no one. The media worked over time as Obama’s press agents, ignored dem voter fraud and box stuffing, and now have all these grand ideas on how Romney can “make amends” by pushing some idiotic liberal meme of theirs. I hope Romney heads back to the private sector, makes another sh!tload of money for his posterity in his sleep, and shrugs his Atlas-sized shoulders as the retards in this country who didn’t vote for him or a sound economy future get corn-holed by the coming fiscal disaster. A disaster they voted by either pulling the lever (or two or three) for Obama, or staying home because Romney wasn’t “Gingrich-y” enough for their liking. This country deserves what’s coming. They voted for it.
