Attorney: Hobby Lobby will defy Obama’s contraception mandate, risk fine
Kyle Duncan, who is representing Hobby Lobby on behalf of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, said in a statement posted on the group’s website Thursday that Hobby Lobby doesn’t intend to offer its employees insurance that would cover the drug while its lawsuit is pending.
“The company will continue to provide health insurance to all qualified employees,” Duncan said. “To remain true to their faith, it is not their intention, as a company, to pay for abortion-inducing drugs.”

I admire their resolve and keeping with their faith about this issue. Good luck, they will need it!

I wish them luck and success.

I’m really glad to see this, but I have no doubt that the left will set them up with all kinds of “employee’s” filing lawsuits against them. We need to insist that if this is how trashy Obamacare will be, that they have to make the morning after pill an over the counter, “medication”.
BettyRuth on December 28, 2012 at 12:20 PM
I’ve never been to a Hobby Lobby, I do believe this weekend I will change that. #FightTheGoodFight
reddevil on December 28, 2012 at 12:21 PM
If they lose they shoud dump their employees on the exchanges. Let them fend for themselves.

Time for governors and state legislatures to man up too. Nullify!

I will be shopping at HL more often.
We will be seeing more and more of the “I WILL NOT COMPLY” spirit. It’s the American way!
katy on December 28, 2012 at 12:27 PM
Yes, but sadly most of them are styrofoam. Nevertheless that’s still more than most Congressional Republicans have.
29Victor on December 28, 2012 at 12:28 PM
Will the DHS be storming Hobby Lobby with SEMI-AUTOMATIC guns and taking the employees in never to heard from again?
katy on December 28, 2012 at 12:29 PM
If everyone started answering unconstitutional (John Roberts does NOT trump what the Constitution says) government power grabs with the word NO the all powerful state would become impotent.
The only reason why government has been allowed to gain more and more unconstitutional powers is because good people have been TOO OBEDIENT.
There is no obligation whatsoever to obey an unjust law. The Constitution makes no mention of a department of “health and human services” nor does it list the head of that department as having authority to unilaterally make law that could lead to fines or criminal sanctions for Hobby Lobby or anyone else. This falls under NONE of the enumerated powers, and therefore it does not exist short of it being AMENDED in.
Therefore that department has no such authority.
Therefore no one is obliged to pay even the slightest bit of attention to any edict they produce, nor of any edict any court produces supporting them.
If we, as Americans started DEFYING government authority by the tens of millions that authority would vanish.

pretty awesome =) they don’t back down under the pressure!
i have never been to hobby lobby, there isn’t one that close to me. but i hope i’ll be able to visit one of their stores eventually.
Sachiko on December 28, 2012 at 12:31 PM
100% agree. more people need to follow hobby lobby’s example. the government should fear the people, not the other way around.
Sachiko on December 28, 2012 at 12:34 PM
As in Chick Fil A Appreciation day…
HOBBY LOBBY APPRECIATION DAY should be organized!
katy on December 28, 2012 at 12:36 PM
FWIW, I think I read somewhere that even that old bag Ginsburg intimated that this encroachment on religious liberty is unconstitutional. Certainly can’t rely on SCOTUS for anything these days, however. Hopefully, this part gets overturned before any of these fine people really have to deal with the consequences.
The Count on December 28, 2012 at 12:37 PM
Good for them.
gophergirl on December 28, 2012 at 12:40 PM
I don’t have one near me but you can also shop online. I buy a lot at craft stores locally but plan on buying what I can from Hobby Lobby online instead.
msmveritas on December 28, 2012 at 12:42 PM
Is HL’s health insurance self-run such that they can do this?
If not, how is it possible for a business to acquire a policy to provide employees which doesn’t have that provision? Is it because, under the new regulation, insurance companies are allowed to provide policies to businesses which don’t have that provision?
Dusty on December 28, 2012 at 12:43 PM
While I understand, respect, and applaud Hobby Lobby’s position and the action they have taken, does anyone here think that The Zero will brook this kind of disobedience? He will simply have his IRS stooges empty their bank accounts and financially break them.
I’m sure he is EXCITED that Hobby Lobby has done this, it gives him an excuse to make an example of them. They will be impoverished, their licenses to operate will be revoked and the FBI will arrest them all. This will be repeated a couple times to attempt cow the public.
I say this as a reminder to gird your loins. Expect the Left to throw every legal (and illegal) tactic they have in their arsenal at us. They will not allow their Holy Grail of govt run healthcare to slip through their fingers so easily.
As a battle cry goes; “Remember Hobby Lobby!” isn’t the best I’ve ever heard, but it will have to do.
wearyman on December 28, 2012 at 12:46 PM
I can’t say I’m all for Hobby Lobby for defying federal mandates, be they ridiculous or not. If every company in the US has to do it, than so does Hobby Lobby.
Having said that…the most ridiculous thing here is the govt mandating companies provide access to abortion. Because that’s what the “morning after” pill is, an abortion. Perhaps if more chicks gave unprotected sex a thought, there wouldn’t be such a need for this pill.

This has to happen before we can overthrow this tyranny. It has to be forced to go “hard” and show its hand of force before most people will even recognize we are no longer a Republic. Obama gets away with soft tyranny only because of obedience. Remove that obedience and they must drop the mask, reveal themselves, or sulk off in impotence.

Good on them, but DHS is probably salivating at the prospect of taking money from political enemies.

Hobby Lobby as a Christian owed company has the right to obey God rather than man. I’ll try to shop more often and show support. Methinks Obamanation is due a another “Chick-Fil-A Day” Show of counter-support

I think you haven’t thought your position through very well – how is it fair or justifiable to be ok with 0dumba’s administration handing out arbitrary health care waivers? Do you have a problem with what conscientious objectors like MLK Jr. and Rosa Parks did?
Anti-Control on December 28, 2012 at 1:38 PM
Yeah, I’m sure he does.
