As much as that never quite sat right with me - and Max Landis was much more upset about it and detailed his distaste eloquently here - I was much more bothered by the way they drove Hal Jordan over the edge, had him slaughter the entire Green Lantern Corps and make him the most evil guy in the universe. Ironically, the only thing I hated more than how they did that is how they un-did it. Yellow alien in his brain made him do it, basically. Lame.

Wow! Now there’s a blast from the past. I think I actually might have a few Spidey 2099 comics still hanging around in a box somewhere from when I was 14-15 or so… I seem to remember that Spider-man was half-Irish, half-Mexican…Miguel O’Hara?

Yeah, permanent. Because all things are permanent in comics, especially killing off the trademark character right after making a movie about him.

This will be about as permanent as when Marvel permanently killed all vampires in their universe and permanently undid the spell that allowed vampires to even exist in the Marvel universe.

And Doc Ock won’t be half the Spider-Man that Kraven the Hunter was.

Don’t get the idea that it’s Doc Ock putting on a Spider-Man costume. Their minds have switched, he’s in Peter’s body and Peter is in Doc Ocks which just died.

Yawn. Yeah, this is totally permanent… until next year when the whole thing is retconned or rebooted or some other weird plot device to turn the whole thing into something more recognizable and grab more nerd money…

And I’ve actually been quite a nerd, too. Just never got into comics past Archie.
